I’m typically a wine/light beer/champy-kinda girl. Cocktails like Jack & Coke or pre-bottled mixes turn me off.
If I’m drinking a cocktail it has to be pretty FN-ing amazing…San Fran is known for its craft cocktail bars, so I def took advantage of that this past weekend ( whoops! ).
So. Let’s be clear: craft cocktails are completely different than bottle service at a club. In my opinion, it’s slim pickings in regular bars/clubs/restaurants. So when I come across an insane speakeasy-type bar, I’m pretttty excited.
Reasons I’m a craft cocktail brat:
+ The freshest ingreds, ever. Usually from the local farmer’s market.
+ Made with in-house bitters & syrups ( << so there’s no added chemical crap ).
+ Delicious, unique flavor pairings.
+ Seasonal fruits are celebrated. Examps: fresh berries in the summer or grapefruit in the winter.
+ Herbs galore…basil, mint, thyme, cilantro, etc.
+ All of the bartenders are typically mixologists & know their shit.
On Friday night we went to a lil gem called Big Speakeasy. I died & went to heaven when the hottie bartender made me a kumquat, rye bourbon, Meyer lemon, & cayenne cocktail with the freshest ingredients ever. Some other craft bars we tested out in SF: The Alembic Bar, Local Edition, Absinthe, & Tradition Mixology Bar. All these have amaze cocktails & ambience ( << think Roaring 20’s/Prohibition era/secret entrances ).
You can find some of my homemade favies here & the best San Diego craft bar here.
Trust me, taste a fresh craft cocktail & you’ll never go back to drinking a sickie, overly concentrated cranberry, vodka soda.

I am the same way! I have been on a major champs kick lately!
Yeppp… love craft cocktails! At the typical bar, I usually only use water as a mixer with lemon or lime squeezed in… everything else is too sweet for me!
A little pieces of summer…but here is winter yet!
amazing post! Kisses from Rome Federica

Agreed…I rarely drink liquor, but if I do, it has to be amazing. Margaritas have a special place in my heart, but they have to be done right…NO premade mixers full of preservatives and sugar thankyouverymuch.
Yes and yes!! The fresher, the better.
Fresh is the best… I am the same way. Wine or craft cocktails all the way. So jelly you were in San Francisco. Been meaning to make a trip out there lately as I’ve been craving blue bottle coffee:)
