If there’s one thing I invest in, it’s my time. You know this- time is money.
There’s this app that I’ve been using lately that I need to tell you guys about. But we’ll get to that.
I feel like the days of GLAM being such a big deal are over. Now, with social media, there are efficient ways to get your makeup or hair done without it being overwhelming. It’s way more mainstream now.
I think people are afraid of it because it sounds intimidating, but it’s totally in reach for everyone now- especially if you find an amazing service. It’s totally doable, guys.
If I have to prep for a meeting or have a conference call or need to get ready for a meet-up, I like to have my hair & makeup done.
I call GLAM SQUAD. It’s an on-demand, in-home beauty service. They do:
♡ hair
♡ makeup
♡ nails
♡ weddings
When it comes to my time, I’m constantly looking for ways to find more of it. I use Postmates, Uber & now Glam Squad because in the long run, it gives me more time to work & be creative. If I had to spend time doing all these different things, I wouldn’t have the space to do that. Outsourcing these things really frees up my time & makes me more efficient.
I batch a lot of my work so to be able to sit down, uninterrupted and get my glam done, it’s really a no brainer.
Be totally specific with them, in a NICE way. Tell them what you want. They want you to be happy and satisfied with their services.
I like to tell my makeup artist:
NO eyeshadow please. I can’t even go there with eyeshadow…. just some primer on the eyelid and no eyeliner. Then, they curl & mascara my lashes ( adding a 113 Ardell lash never hurt a flea ). I also like an extra contour & highlight if it’s nighttime too. A tiny bit of white sparkle in the corner of my eyes to brighten them, and my teeth, is always a good idea.
For lips, I’ll do a gloss with a lip cheat overline.
It’s important to over-communicate so you don’t have to worry about how it’ll turn out.
Using a damp BeautyBlender instead of a makeup brush makes the makeup lay better too, in my opinion.
For hair, I’ll do braids or stick straight hair. Sometimes I’ll ask for a slight, vertical bend….never a curl. I’m not so into the Shirley Temple look. But hey, you do you.
I use the hour to work and all the Beauty Pros are always so understanding and just let me do that. When they’re done, all I have to do is throw clothes on and I’m ready to go out the door.
I’m not saying this is something you should do every day. I’m just saying that if you need to get ready for something and also work, then this is a great way to save time. It’s efficient. I say that word all the time, but really, what other word is there?
For me, I’d rather spend money on my time than a Gucci belt…it’s a no brainer in my opinion. It’s just my thing. I’d rather shop on Fashion Nova where everything is cheap, and spend my money on time & skin ( you already know ).
So if you’re big on time and like to to invest in your time, then Glam Squad is for you.
For makeup in LA I like Kerin & Jeanine. For hair, I like the way Katie does it.
When I’m in NYC, I request Nick Scalzo to do my makeup and Shana or Isaac for my hair.
When you find someone you like, you can keep requesting them because it takes any weirdness out of it. You’ll get used to one another which also saves time. They’re very much in your space so you want to vibe with their good energy.
Plus, you can even buy packages to save a bit of money if you plan to hire them more than once.
Have you guys used Glam Squad or something similar before? How does it help you use your time more efficiently?
With that, I’m off to celebrate my and Michael’s 2 year wedding anniversary. We’ll be sharing some fun sneak peeks through Instagram Stories.
We’re back at our favorite spot in Cabo. Can’t wait to see what Michael has planned ( hint, hint ).
