If you’ve never worn a ViX bikini, WHO ARE YOU?!

But really, do you live in Alaska?

I kid, I kid, but ViX bikinis are DEFINITELY one of the best fitting bikinis in the game.

I’ve been rocking ViX since high school. I even wore ViX Swim throughout my whole book, The Skinny Confidential Lifestyle Guide.

ViX styles are always on point: they hold the twins up, flatter the body, & are just damn sexy! They have the best details too. My absolute favorite thing about the swimsuit line, is they’re simple. There aren’t like six million pieces hanging off, you don’t feel like a Vegas stripper, AND they’re effortless in every way.

Side note: You can find my favorite white bikini here & I after doing some research for this post…I kind of HAD to buy this backless beauty— it was just too good ( see above ).

SO>> let’s talk about the creator of ViX Swim!! Her name is Paula Hermanny & she just kills it in every way. Basically the girl boss runs a company with 300 employees AND finds time to meditate, surf, take care of kids, eat healthy, & practice yoga.

HOW DOES SHE DO IT?

Well, let’s ask her:

Hi Paula! So excited to have you on The Skinny Confidential! Tell us about how ViX and Sophia by ViX began and the process involved?

When I was 21, I moved from Brazil to San Diego to study English and fell in love with the city, its beaches, and the laid back attitude of the people – very reminiscent of Brazil. My one dilemma was that I simply could not find a swim suit that I liked. Every time I went back to Brazil, I would stock up on bikinis and make little tweaks and changes. Soon, all my friends were asking for bikinis just like mine – and that is how ViX Paula Hermanny was born.

I created SOFIA by ViX in 2002 which I design for the more edgy, free spirited and ‘street style’ girl. I call it ‘Brazilian Beach and Street Style.’ With ViX I have a very tried and true customer— she’s elegant, sophisticated, & always looking for luxury.

With SOFIA I feel very empowered, creative & free to design anything I want.

Favorite ViX bikini & why?

I love our Buzios Bottom which is almost seamless and has a low-rise with a ‘cheeky’ backside. It’s so flattering and such a great representation of a Brazilian bikini done right!

Our Spring /Summer 15 season introduced a new T-Shirt Top that is so versatile and fun. I love seeing how our customers wear it on Instagram, paired with long skirts, with denim cut-offs or simply worn as a swim top.

How do you stay healthy? Favorite workout/healthy snack?

I do yoga and meditation daily. When I meditate, I try clear my mind of all my work and stress, but miraculously answers and solutions come to me while mediating. It is so important to take care of your mind and soul.

Once a week my yoga instructor comes to the office and we all do yoga together, I feel it helps us all to step away from our desk and focus on ourselves.

I like to eat well. I juice at home and prepare a lunch with fresh ingredients that I bring with me to the office. My only snacks are seasonal fruit, smoothies I make myself, & nuts— I don’t eat any processed food.

I’m always home to make dinner and eat together as a family. To me, this is a priority in my life. On the weekends I spend most of my time at the beach, my entire family surfs.

Best beauty tip? Especially for summer?

I use Skinceuticals products in my daily routine. The most important thing I do everyday is wear sunscreen.

In Brazil we do not get made up to go to the beach, it’s all about natural beauty!

What’s the design process around the bikinis? It seems so cool!

Everything around me inspires an idea that ends up being part of my collection— nature, jewelry, books and colors I see when traveling.

I go to Brazil at least 5 times a year to work on my collection at the design studio, and visit our factory. Our prints are designed exclusively for us and I spend a lot of time mood boarding, studying colors and perfecting prints.

I love jewelry and fashion overall, and always try incorporate the latest trends in jewelry and accessories into my bikinis.

What’s a day in the life? You’re such a GIRL BOSS!

It always starts with yoga, meditation and a healthy breakfast. I have two kids so there are always things to take care of for school, projects, dance classes, etc. At the office my days are mostly filled with meetings with my U.S. sales and marketing teams and Skype meetings with my Brazil design development team.

The truth is, it’s a lot of hard work & I take very seriously the fact that I have over 300 employees globally. It’s a big responsibility. If I didn’t have this passion for design & bringing my customers beautiful resort wear, I don’t know that I could keep going like this.

In the afternoons and on weekends, I like to disconnect and spend time with my children and husband. We live a few blocks from the beach and everyone surfs— you can always find us at Wind N’ Sea beach in La Jolla, California.

Future plans for ViX and/or Sofia by ViX?

In the past few years I have opened 4 retail stores in Brazil; it’s amazing how many more people we are reaching by having stores that women can come in and “touch & feel” our products.

It’s my biggest dream and goal to open a store in the USA.

SPILL>> what’s in your beach bag?

+ Sunscreen
+ Persol sunglasses
+ Coconut water
+ Fruit or nuts— I’m always hungry!
+ My cell phone to capture beach pics of my children

Green Papaya Salad

( Recipe is from Chef James Kelly )

Ingredients:
5 tablespoons fresh lime juice
2-3 tablespoons palm sugar
2 tablespoons fish sauce
4 garlic cloves, finely grated
1 piece of ginger, peeled, finely grated
15 green beans
1  green papaya, peeled, halved, seeded
2 heirloom carrots, peeled
10 grape tomatoes, halved
½ cup cilantro, chopped
½ cup basil, chopped
2 green onions, sliced
1 fresh red Thai chili, sliced
2 tablespoons cashews, chopped
Micro herbs for garnish

Directions: whisk first 5 ingredients in medium bowl. Set aside. Cook beans in medium saucepan of boiling salted water until crisp-tender, about 5 minutes. Rinse under cold water. Cut into 2-inch pieces. Using a mandolin with the julienne attachment, julienne enough papaya to measure about 6 cups, then julienne your carrots leaving the center bits. Be very careful with the mandolin and use a kitchen towel to protect your fingers. Place papaya and carrots in a large bowl. Add tomatoes, cilantro, green onions, chili, and green beans. Pour dressing over; toss. Sprinkle cashews and micro herbs & serve.
