So this is a spinoff dressing of one that I whipped up in 2012, remember?

But 2012 is out & it’s time to evolve. So I figured I had to update you guys on my to-go office dressings.

That’s right guys. Not only do I bring Kardashian salad bowls to our office, I also bring mini to-go dressing containers too. Because there’s really nothing worse than a wilted, wet rat looking broccoli salad, you know. Hence the importance of little dressing containers.

Here’s the deal: I make some dressing on Sunday night ( takes 5 seconds ), & then add it to the fridge in 4 to 6 small dressing holders. You can add this dressing to normal salads, taco salads, ground turkey, noodles, zoodles, OR use it as a veggie dip. To be honest, it’s really good with grapes & watermelon too. Sometimes for a snack I’ll throw together chia seeds, fruit, mint, & some of this dressing. You know me, I love contrast. Contrasting tastes good too.

These to-go dressing containers are ideal for this recipe & they’re $4.99. Also these ones I just found & I’m dying for them because they seem very efficient.

Alight, let’s hop right into the recipe. This is a mixture that comes from Michael’s grandma’s homemade dressing & my stepmom, Julie’s dressing recipe. I sort of mixed them together for a fun twist. All of these ingredients are ones you should already have — I mean they’re basic bitches. But when they come together it’s a real mouth party.

The Skinny Confidential’s BEST Damn Dressing

2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
6 dashes of Italian red wine vinegar ( I add ten shakes sometimes – I LOVE it! )
1/2 Meyer lemon, juiced
1 tablespoon of spicy brown mustard
2-3 dashes of Italian OR French seasoning ( I AM OBSESSED with this medley )
2-3 dashes of garlic salt ( or REAL garlic — my favorite! )
Pinch of sea salt, to taste

+ Directions: As you know, I use a martini shaker to mix my dressing. But really a literal martini shaker. Mix EVOO, red wine vinegar, half a lemon ( just the juice ), seasoning & garlic salt ( or fresh garlic ) together; shake well. Add mustard after. Shake, shake, shake again. You can use a whisk if you don’t have a martini shaker. Add dressing to to-go dressing holders. If you want it spicer, add chile flakes!

Note: this dressing is particularly insane with arugula, broccoli, orange bell pepper, avocado, Italian parmesan cheese, cucumber, & homemade sourdough croutons ).

TA-DA the perfect mustard vinaigrette! Really so tasty though.

We always have extra leftovers of the spicy brown mustard so we make lemon-y, spicy brown mustard chicken A LOT. It’s delicious, let me know if you want me to share the recipe! Really this dressing is a HUGE favorite. It’s the only dressing I ever eat at home.

In fact, sometimes at restaurants when I’m feeling extra psycho… like every time… I micro-manage the waiter & ask for olive oil, red wine vinegar, & mustard. DIY at restaurants! At least you know what you’re getting, right?

Ok so, I’m not going to lie: I’ve been having some anxiety about writing this post.

You guys have asked me on Instagram when I’m going to recap my herb doctor appointment, that I oh-so-boldly talked about a week ago…

And well, honestly, the experience ended up being A LOT more intense than I initially anticipated. LIKE IT WAS NOT EVEN CLOSE to what I anticipated.

Really though, it’s taken me a few days to muster the courage to write this post…

Ok, soooo.

I went to the Tibetan healing doctor expecting…I don’t know? Herbs for stronger nails? Something to make my hair shinier? Maybe even a little something, something to fight fatigue ( lately I’ve been working a lotttt, so anything to give me a little energy kick, right? Besides crack, of course LOL )?

Anyway, I entered the facility & it was quaint, sweet, & simple. Lately, I’ve been really in to energy & the space had GREAT energy. ( I can’t explain why. It just did ).

I looked around, curious why the other people were there. One man was on a medical ventilator for breathing, another woman was very overweight, & another girl was with a friend and her young child. So, all different kinds of people, basically.

Immediately I checked in, filled out some quick Q & A’s, & got on my phone to text/Instagram/e-mail/etc. in the waiting room. ( And really, who doesn’t do this while waiting for the doctor? )

My name was called & ta-da, I met Mr. Healer ( << his name wasn’t really Mr. Healer, but you get my drift ). I immediately liked him.


Not to brag, but I guess I will? He told me I had a ‘good spirit.’ This made my week year coming from him.

Ok so, after his spirit remark I started blabbing about hair, nails, skin, beauty benefits of herbs, blah, blah, blah…I’m sure you can imagine.

He stopped me.

He said “give me your arms” & proceeded to take my pulse on both arms. For about 20 minutes straight.

Now to sit for 20 minutes without my cell phone/computer/etc. is RARE ( I’m trying to get better, guys. Really, I am ).

So, I took the time to try to sit still & actually practice sitting still ( HARD ).

Ok…Here’s the difficult part to share on TSC. I’ve thought long and hard on whether or not to share this, & I’ve decided I’m going to GO FOR IT because there’s a POINT. If there wasn’t a point, I wouldn’t normally share something so personal…

When he was done, he looked at me and said “you have very, very bad anxiety. It’s affecting you emotionally, very deep inside.”


…OUT OF NOWHERE: I burst out crying.

It was like a projectile cry out of my mouth. The craziest cry I’ve ever cried. The weirdest cry I’ve ever cried. And it came from DEEP within me.

Here’s the thing guys: I couldn’t believe that I cried like this ( totally, totally unexpected…I’m not a crier unless something is VERY wrong ) AND I didn’t write anything about my anxiety on the Q & A form.

Point: the experience was emotional because, here I was, going to an herb doctor for superficial, vain-ish reasons: hair, nails, skin, etc.

I mean it never occurred to me to talk about anxiety…ever.

Also, I should note: I don’t really talk about anxiety. It can be crippling at times— like I’m anxious but you wouldn’t know it by speaking to me in person. I’m anxious inwardly, I guess.

It’s internal. I’m in my head. A LOT.

And to have someone acknowledge my inward-type of anxiety? LIFE CHANGING. A lot of people would tell me to take a hike, go to church, get outside. I’m so used to suppressing the anxiousness in me that it was pure relief to have someone tell me it’s ok & it’s real.

You know how you feel when you’re on a plane & your ears need to pop? And you try to un-pop them & you just can’t? You know how you do that? And then they un-pop & it’s pure relief?

That’s how I felt. Like my ears had un-popped.

So the unexpected, deep cry was relief that someone acknowledged my anxiousness just by feeling my pulse.

The healer was not shocked at all.

He asked me why I was anxious & we talked about things that contribute to my anxiety— past, present, & future. But that’s between me, Mr. Healer, & his goldfish…BUT YA it was an unbelievable experience.

He told me all about how the Tibetan culture works ( << they’re very zen & not as stressed as Americans apparently ). And then we talked about what I should do to heal the anxiousness deep inside me.

Mr. Healer said that in my case ( remember: this is MY case, everyone is different ):

I need more unsalted real butter in my diet…I’m not mad about this. Today I woke up & ate a huge chunk of butter on my oatmeal. YUM. The butter will help balance out my hormones & nerves, he said.

I need more red meat in my diet…interesting because I’m not a red meat fan. This past week, I’ve eaten grass-fed red meat & my energy levels have DRASTICALLY improved. The meat will help my fatigue & hormones, he said.

He gave me herbs to take in the morning 1/2 hour before breakfast with a glass of water. You chew them ( they’re not available online ) & they taste very herb-ish. Also, they’re specific to each person. He told me these herbs would help my nerves & hormones. They’re also full of amino acids. Also, these were $30 for two months, so it’s not like he was trying to rip me off. Reasonable right? Supposedly, they’ll take effect in about a week.

Lastly, he told me to buy this powder & put one scoop in my daily oatmeal or smoothie. I didn’t buy this through him, I bought it on Amazon. So again, no cons. This product is full of rice/pea protein, amino acids, nutrients, & contains highly bioavailable grape seed phytosome for added antioxidant/vascular support.

This was MY experience. Maybe yours would be different. Maybe you’ve gone to an herb doctor & you thought it was BS.

I don’t know.

BUT me? I loved it. I will go back 100%.

By the way, this post made me feel weirdly vulnerable…so I think it’s time for me to go to bed & watch DVR Celebrity Apprentice ( can he fire Brandi already? ) with mint tea & ice cream. Or maybe a cookie. A dark chocolate chip with almond cookie to be exact.

Tomorrow I’m going to a Tibetan herb doctor & you would think I’m a 5 year old going to Disney World for the first time ever.

I’m literally SO excited.

My girlfriend discovered the doctor after feeling lackluster & tired…and now she swears its changed her life.

Yes. Her life.

So yes, DING DING DING, this immediately intriged/s me. No surprise there though.

Basically he’s a holistic doctor who recommends healing teas, herbs, oils, & all-natural remedies specifically for YOU.

Let me be clear: I love all that witch doctor shit. I mean that in a funny, ha-ha, not super serious but I’m serious-kinda way. You guys know I’m fully all about the holistic route if it’s available. But right? LADIES? Anyone with me?

Ok, so I’ll definitely let you guys know how tomorrow’s activities pan out. I’m sure a full recap would be fun so I’ll try to take notes AKA record him secretly on Voice Notes.

Here’s a lil back story: I have this seriously bizarre obsession with spaghetti squash. I eat it allllll the time. My friends will call me on a Monday night & they’re all, “what up?” And per usual I’ll reply “just cooking spaghetti squash, e-mailing, & watching Real Housewives.”

Cooking spaghetti squash is my thing. I add a bunch of arugula underneath it ( fills ya up, big time! ), pile on the squash, & add a little Rao’s super spicy arrabbiata sauce with lemon, chili flake, a sprinkle of fresh parm, & some fresh basil..superrrrr satisfying.

Ok, wait, I’m off topic ( WTF’s new though? ).

So the problem?

Whelp, the herbs, der.

Think about it: if I’m cooking spaghetti squash three to four times a week like an OCD weirdo, I want fresh herbs.

Not some canned shit that’s labeled McCormick. I want balls-to-the-walls, real deal basil. In fact, sometimes I’ll even buy a little, cutie basil plant…because why the hell not?

Sadly fresh herbs go bad. & they go bad fast.

This is where the olive oil ice cubes come in.

When cooking my spaghetti squash, I like to heat the Rao’s sauce up with a little olive oil. So by freezing the herbs in the olive oil ice cubes, I preserve my herbs longer & don’t have to worry about them turning a nasty color.

See? They’re still pretty green.

And since I’m always one to add a little flare, I threw in some pomegranate seeds ( antioxidants!!! ). Pome seeds rock my world & I love them on EVERYTHING. Pasta, salad, oatmeal, sparkling water, etc.

Directions: grab some non-GMO, organic EVOO, a handful of fresh pomegranate seeds, & diced basil ( it’s up to you on how much; get crazy ) & throw it all in a silicon ice cube holder…wait a few hours…& you’re golden.

Sleep Better/Feel Better with My Favorite Thing Ever: Liquid Herbs

I made you guys a promise I’d share all the deets on liquid herbs.

Let me just preface this by saying I’m naturally an anxious person ( shocker, right? ). I can’t really relax because I’m always stressed about what I should be doing or what I could be doing. After meeting with an herb doctor, he said the best bedtime herbs were valerian root and ashwagandha root. He picked these specific herbs for anxiety because they’re known to promote relaxation ( hence why I take them before bed ). More benefits of these two herbs can be found here & here.
