How To Style a Summer Patio

My summer patio has been my project lately.

I wanted it to evoke a super calming atmosphere where I could work in the shade ( UMBRELLA!!! ) with Pixy near my side…but also transition into an nighttime area where I could throw together some spaghetti squash for friends.

Side: basically Pixy has turned the patio into Pixy’s Princess Palace because she’s a sun worshiper love child that loves laying outside. I may or may not have just purchased her a dog sun protective shirt ( a la recommendation of a lovely reader ). So throughout the day I have to move her white/teal fluffy bed according to where the sun’s positioned. She’s obviously high maintenance. But that’s ok because she is the most gorgeous girl in the world.

Anyway. Back to the patio.

On the main patio, I have a white & gold table set that my stepmom, Julie AKA Burlap & Crystal hand painted. She found the set for $300 at a consignment store & made it look absolutely perfect. We added a hanging umbrella so it evolved that charming kind of vibe.

BTW, my grandma AKA ‘The Nanz’ & I are known for Rosé Wednesdays…& this table is perfect for our lil ritual.

Some other fun finds: a teal sun lounger, a tiny white garden table ( perfect for adding candles/fake flowers/etc. ), a gold bamboo vanity table ( which subs great for an outside side table ), these tiny jars for candles, this cocktail dispenser, & a couple of sexy succulents.

When I started Project Patio I wanted to make sure that my house transitioned into the patio. Does that make sense?

Meaning I wanted to have a little patio table in the house that represented the patio’s entrance. I ordered this really pretty white marble garden table with gold bamboo legs ( that’s so sexy I could cry ) & added tall white flowers, a Mermaid candle, and my highest white stiletto. I’m a huge fan of different heights & dimensions on a flat surface. See here:

My place AKA The Kitty Den has two patios. One that’s a big, sun lit patio ( with an umbrella, naturally ) & another one that’s Pixy’s patio with her bed, Mexican print blanket, zen fountain, & a little table ( which she firmly believes is her’s ). This little table was painted by my friend’s mom ( if you’re interested e-mail me at Lauryn@TheSkinnyConfidential.com ). She hand painted the table to fit with my decor & I couldn’t be more obsessed….check it:

The Skinny Confidential talks patio.Lastly, I knew I had to have a rug. This rug by Lulu And Georgia is literally the perfect patio rug. It’s sturdy without being too overwhelming. Pixy is loving her rug on ‘her patio’ because she doesn’t like to get her paws dirty; #patioprincess. Pixy’s patio is blocked from the rain so a rug was the natural choice to bring the whole place together. I also added this rad rug to the front of my doorstep outside.

More little touches: my sister bought me this gold wind chime for Christmas that sounds so calming & therapeutic! Also, when I have friend’s over it’s always fun to put Marvin Gaye tunes on outside on a JamBox. & lastly, you can never go wrong with fake flowers!

Stay tuned because I just ordered a hand painted garden margarita cart to match the small patio table & I can’t wait to showcase it on the blog!

What’s your summer patio essential?

  1. Hi Lauryn! I wanted to let you know, Suja Juice is doing a free shipping promo on their 3 day fresh start cleanse with promo code: summerfresh It’s going on now through Friday. I ordered mine since you’ve said so many good things about it before, it gets here tomorrow and I can’t wait to start!!! Thanks for letting me know about it 🙂

  2. Um, I can’t believe that you didn’t include any pictures of spicy in this post!!! I love that she has her own patio, too cute

  3. Yes, you got Pixy the UV shirt! I’ll be going to the beach with my sunworshipping little guy in a few weeks and can’t wait to see him running all over the sand in his UV shirt. Love your patio decor, I’m obsessed with teal, white and gold (favorite colors, along with some classic black). Also, dying over those flowers!

    Xo,

    Tris

  4. I love love love the 20’s feel of the gold and white bamboo furniture – what a pretty idea for a patio. Also, the hand painted table and chairs are amazing. I have serious furniture envy!

  5. Your furniture are looking nice and beautiful . Its white color makes it more attractive and gives simple looks. You used pallet design of furniture that is very affordable and great idea . If we have old pallet, then we can use them for garden furniture and by painting, using carpet and many things we can make it attractive and good look.

  6. Thanks for sharing your patio renovations! I agree that the rug is a very nice addition to your patio collection. In fact, I think that I need to start looking around for a patio rug as well. If I am going to get new furniture, I want to make sure that I’m not scraping it against the concrete ground!

  7. Very creative use of a shoe! But I think the most important thing is just making sure that the chairs are comfy. That makes hanging out the best. 🙂

  8. Wow!! Those pictures look amazing. I have a small backyard garden and am going to try Shop4 Patio Outdoor Furniture because they gave a compelling and elegant service.

    Good work, keep posting!!
