We discussed the importance of anti-aging, so now let’s discuss maintenance.
I’m a huge fan of keeping it simple.
I love coconut oil for my hands, SPF during the day, grape seed oil to remove makeup, & before I go to bed instead of using 320283 products, I like to use one, two at most.
I’ve been using Elizabeth Arden skin products for about a year & a half & I have really nothing but good things to say about it. My journey using their skincare started here. As you guys know, I only blog about things I love so after using SUPERSTART, I KNEW I HAD TO SHARE.
I prefer to use it at night because when I wake up it makes my skin feel rejuvenated & renewed but it can be used morning and night. Think of this as maintenance for your skin. Like I said, I’m not a fan of a million creams at night, so to have one that gets the job done & keeps my skin dewy works well with my lifestyle.
Here’s my step-by-step skin care routine:
1.) Remove makeup with organic grape seed oil on a cotton ball.
2.) Use a bar of all natural, organic soap to wash my face. Use a clean towel ( I always wipe my face with a brand new clean towel to prevent bacteria from spreading ). I pat the towel on my face, as opposed to whipping it ( say no to wrinkles! ).
3.) Afterwards I use about 2 pumps of SUPERSTART which works holistically to restore the healthy look of skin’s surface layer, fortifying its natural ability to repair and renew and ultimately boosting the effectiveness of your other skincare products. There’s a probiotic complex in it that optimizes skin’s micro flora to strengthen the skin’s natural defenses and it also has ingredients that enhance hydration & moisturization. You guys know how I loveeee probiotics. After using this my skin looks smoother, more radiant and resilient. Also, I ALWAYS make sure to add some to my neck!
4.) After I’m moisturized I add some raw coconut oil under my eyes & on my lips.
5.) If I want to take it one step further I’ll do a mask before bed. The more ABSURD the mask, the better. LOL.
Overall skin maintenance is ESSENTIAL at my age. I’m at that age that I’m setting up my skin’s future so anything to help maintain a healthy look is A MUST. Ultimately my simple routine helps me keep that youthful, bright, & fresh glow.
I mean, I feel like you maintain your car, teeth, brows, roots…so skin maintenance should be a given…right.
Ok, I’d love to hear about your skin routine. Is it crazy complex or simple? Also, would you guys like to see a skin care video tutorial? Let me know below!
Ok I’m off to drink some peppermint tea ( which is great for your skin too! ), watch The Heartbreak Kid, & throw some SUPERSTART on my skin. Crazy, RAGING night.

I would love to see a tutorial! I have been using Elizabeth Arden products since high school since that is what my mom used. My favorite is the exfoliating face wash! I also use grape seed oil to remove my make up, I have it in a little pump bottle by the sink. Works perfect! I recently started using Cleansing Micellar Water by Simple and it works really good to clean your face!
LOVE grape seed oil. It’s my absolute favorite for makeup remover. Thanks for reading Alexis! xx
I love keeping it simple too. Elizabeth Arden is the bomb!

Superstart sounds like a lovely product. I am all for minimising my skincare routine these days and really trying to pare it down to good quality products without any extras. Coconut oil is fab isn’t it?
Coconut oil is AMAZING. I love how it has so many different uses. Skin, hair, cooking, eating, it’s literally the most versatile product. Thanks for reading Melissa! xx
My routine is SO close to this, but I’m in love with Neals Yard products! Tough to find them here in Aus, though.
Nicola, xo
p.s. looking so beautiful 🙂
Thanks Nicola <3
YES! Do a video on this!!
Eeeek! Okay I think I might have to. Thanks for reading!
My routine is fairly simple, but maybe a little more complicated than yours. I find nighttime care routines to be really soothing, so I like to take my time.
Step 1: Remove all makeup with jojoba oil
Step 2: Wash face with either dermae hydrating cleanser (it has hyularonic acid) or lavender rice powder (mix with a little water or rice water). If doing this step, I leave it on for about 10 minutes.
Step 3: Tone with rice water or rosewater
Step 4: Rub in oil blend of argan, rosehip, red raspberry seed, meadowfoam and chardonnay grape seed oil
Step 5: Let oil sink in while flossing and brushing my teeth
Step 6: If skin feels like it needs extra moisture, follow up with weleda skin food
A couple nights a week I also use either a Vitamin C serum or AHA serum from Ole Henrickson. If I do this step, I do it before my oil and give time to sink in.
Hi Whitney! GREAT routine. LOVE everything in this list. Thanks for reading and sharing! xx
Elizabeth Arden has a fantastic blemish concealer (I’ve been using it for years, ever since I got a test tube of it as a holiday gift), if anyone needs to add that to their skin routine too. I guess it’s more for morning than night, but it’s worth sharing.
xoxo

Love it. Thanks for sharing Dana. xx
Super simple, I use moisturizer everyday.
Hi Maria, love it! Moisturizer is the most important thing. xx
The Superstart sounds like great product! I try to keep my nighttime skin care routine to a minimum. Swipe make up off with almond oil, wash face with Lancome foaming cleanser and Kiehl´s moisturizer.

Hi Stephanie, I like your routine! Have you ever used grape seed oil for makeup remover? It’s my favorite! Thanks for reading. xx
Thanks Lauryn, I (and many others) would love a post on skin care. I have discovered Paula’s Choice AHA serum (there is a BHA for blackheads too), which you use daily as a non-scratchy exfoliant. Its brilliant. I also use a capsule (health store supplement ) of Vit E once in a while, and IT MAKES MY SKIN LOOK THE BEST, its the single most effecfive/visible thing I have ever done. Also what is that candle in the pic (the amber glass one). Again you are the bomb!! Greetings from downunder xox
Hi Lynnie, I’m so intrigued by Paula’s Choice AHA serum. Might have to try it! Also, vitamin E is the BEST. I think it’s great you’re using it every once and a while keep it up. xx
Love your comment that the more absurd the mask the better. Made me LOL!
My absolute favorite is Amore Pacific’s Moisture Bound Sleep Mask. Not absurd looking unfortunately (it’s actually clear) but it is a game changer! It’s actually the mask that I always remember to do when I get home from a long night out…can’t remember to take contacts out, but the mask I get every time. Can’t win them all I suppose. It’s also great when flying so you look fresh when you get off the plane.

Hi Carly. Love it! Maybe ill try this mask around Michael since it’s clear! LOL! Thanks for reading babe. xx

Hi Connie :)) Yes I can’t wait! Thanks for reading. xx
Love this! I use coconut oil for everything! Can you do a morning skin routine post? Please?
Hi Mandy! Thanks for the suggestion :)) xx
You’re so right. I should take more care of my skin too. Will order a serum asap. I use coconut oil everynight but in my age I think it’s not enough anymore.

Hi Stefanie, how old are you if you don’t mind me asking? Try using Vitamin E :)) Thanks for reading! xx
I’ve been working on my skincare for a long time and have yet to find a system that works for me. I use oils to remove my makeup and end with oils but think I need to take things up a step since I did so much damage growing up! I can’t wait to try this product!
Hi Courtney, your skin will repair itself just keep using the oils and stay out of the sun!! Sunscreen is key! It will take time but just keep it up. Thanks for reading! xx
Mixing a few drops of oil into my moisturizer has literally changed my skin’s texture to constant baby butt smooth. And as a person with naturally oily skin, I find it helps prevent slickness later. Cleaning my face with olive oil after a steam is also like salon level blackhead remover. Seriously, I love oils I don’t understand why it took so long to discover them and incorporate them into my skin care routine!
I know right?? They are the best!! I’m obsessed. Thanks for reading :))
I cleanse my skin at night and use a moisturizer. During the day I use a sunscreen.
Love the sunscreen. I think that’s great! Try mixing some oils into your moisturizer, i swear it’s a game changer! xx
I would love to see your tutorial!
I currently use coconut oil what is the difference you notice between coconut and grape seed oils?
Hi Lisa, in my opinion grape seed oil is a little bit smoother because it come as liquid rather than melts. Both are great though! Thanks for reading. xx
Have you ever heard of live crude?! It’s a handmade organic skin care line. I started using it when I was pregnant with my second child…best oil cleansing products. Swear. Check them out here http://www.livecrude.com
Hi Heather! Thanks for sharing I’ll definitely check it out. Thanks!! xx
Ugh I used to be SO BAD about taking care of my skin. I used to think that a quick swipe with a makeup remover wipe was a “routine”. About a year ago my mom told me, “you wear your face everyday, it should be the thing you invest the most in and spend the most time on!” and it’s sooo true. So now I use Mario mario badescu products and try to do an exfoliating mask a few night a week so my skin stays soft. I love all of your natural remedies too! They’ve helped me to feel more confident about trying new things!
xo, Giana
I just recently stumbled upon your blog, but I just binge read some articles on your site. That’s so cute. Thanks for sharing
Does grape seed oil work for waterproof mascara?
Yes! I use it everyday to remove waterproof mascara.
My skin care routine is pretty simply wash with cleanser, use toner, and moisturizer. I would love to see the skin care video that sounds helpful.
I love using coconut oil. great moisturizer

Hi Lauryn!
I was wondering if you would mind sharing your views on Botox. At 26, I’ve got some serious lines beginning on my forehead (from making lots of facial expressions- I’m a sunscreen/hat psycho too) and I’m considering starting with a little Botox to prevent deeper creases. I’m all about keeping skincare as natural as possible but sometimes the natural route isn’t quite effective enough. Would love to hear your thoughts!! xx
My theory on skin care is simple is best. I love coconut oil and other essential oils for my face. Shea butter for my lips and the rest of my skin. Sometimes I use raw honey as a cleanser. Easy peasy. Sunscreen is a must too!
Question about the raw coconut oil. It’s been a million degrees in SoCal, and my coconut oil liquifies. Does it matter whether the oil is in solid or liquid form before applying? Please forgive me if this is an obvious answer; I have new mommy brain and am trying to get my beauty routine back in check. Thank you!
My routine is very simple. A gentle facial cleanser, toner, moisturizer and eye serum.
I have to keep a simple routine – i won’t keep it up otherwise

I really have a very simple routine- just gently washing my face in the morning & night.. I don’t usually wear a ton of makeup. Thanks for the tip about the grape seed oil though!

Hi Lauryn!
As do you, I use only natural products on my skin. I use coconut oil to remove my eye makeup then wash with African Black Soap and tone with Apple Cider Vinegar! Recently, I came across a product called Gavee Gold and it is amazing! A lot of info but I provided the website. Basically all organic and amazing anti-aging, skin radiating ingredients! Love your blog!
I use coconut oil to keep my skin moisturized
That’s a brilliant answer to an intenestirg question
Lauryn , what about rosehip oil? I thought you always loved using that on your face?
