Last Sunday we headed to Burlap in Del Mar to test out their raved about brunch. To start off? First things first: their ultimate bloody Mary menu. My picks: horseradish-infused vodka, salt & pepper, lime, lemon, ginger, cucumber, carrots, super hot sauce, & delicious Chinese celery. It was like a party in my mouth. For breakfast, I chose the fruit plate, arugula salad, & scrambled eggs. Weird thing I have been doing: adding baby arugula to everything. So naturally I tossed handfuls of the leafy greens into my eggs. Delish!

And of course…in true spirit of Sunday brunch, we ended the meal with some mimosas. With Father’s Day around the corner, there will be a lot of brunching/day drinking [ BTW: for the cutest Father’s Day ideas check out here & here ], so here’s some tips on getting tipsy on Sunday:

+ Don’t Stuff Your Face Because It’s Sunday Brunch:

1.} But it’s Sunday!: ya, ya. Don’t justify eating like shit because it’s a certain day of the week. Practice smart judgment as much as possible. This includes Sunday.

2.} OJ on the side: mimosa anyone? I always ask for my OJ on the side, because I prefer a splash, not a gallon. Plus I get way more champs.

3.} If you’re drinking, eat smart: choose protein, greens, fruits, oatmeal, & water. Syrupy French toast, cinnamon rolls, & eggs benedict doused in Hollandaise sauce…not so much.

4.} Be a one bloody babe: since bloody Marys are filled with sodium, is it absolutely necessary to have three? No. Try one & switch to something lighter.

5.} SOS: ask for sauce on the side. No one wants a dressing, with a side of salad. Get a big salad & dress it super light + add some lemon juice.
