I feel like every single protein post on IG or blogs these days are sponsored so I decided to throw a little curveball here & talk about a protein powder that I just REALLY love.
Protein powders ARE NOT ALL EQUAL. There are so many different brands on the market with so many hidden bullshit ingredients. I was actually using a protein for a long time that had awesome ingredients but it contained Stevia. Stevia sometimes is hard on my stomach so I was actively searching for another brand…nix the Stevia. AND FINALLY, FINALLLLY, I found one. I feel that if there were a Tinder for protein powders, I successfully swiped right on my soulmate. This protein powder’s bio would say something along the lines of: NO NASTY BS INGREDIENTS, I’M JUST RIGHT. Or something like that, you know.
Anyway, like I said there’s a lot of scummy protein powders- I have actually heard of scams where the powders are filled with sick filler ingredients that make no sense. You always want to look for those filler ingredients…stay away from whey, soy, GMO’s, etc. I’m not a soy fan at all- this is another post but I actually avoid it whenever I can. Another huge reason I love looking at ingredients.
This is my opinion, of course. As always, do your own research. If anything, this post is to make you more aware.
Moving right along, this protein powder was recommended to me by Be Well By Kelly. As you know she was on The Skinny Confidential HIM & HER Show & she was a real hit ( YES! She will be back! ). Not only has Kelly recommended this, Kim ( my trainer, whose workouts are coming to TSC Bombshell Body Guide– we’ve been working on some badass content for you guys ), said the brand, Primal Kitchen is by far her favorite. Primal Kitchen is committed to high-quality amazing ingredients. I LOVE their avocado mayo ( it’s made with AVO! But tastes like mayo! How cool right! ), always have their collagen bars on hand ( get the chocolate! ), & live for their ranch dressing ( make the switch to this brand- you won’t be sorry- it’s made with avocado oil ). I am not affiliated with Primal Kitchen- I just believe that this a brand TSC community should be aware of- I’m telling you it’s very much legit.
The reasons why I like this protein? Well, let’s get specific here:
It’s all about the gut: the gut is where the healthiness begins- probiotics! They promote healthy bacteria. The protein is pro-gut.
Contains fat from coconut milk: healthy fats- we’ve discussed the importance of healthy fats. They’re fabulous mixed with protein, greens, & fiber. Remember the episode with Be Well By Kelly? She explains the reasons of why this medley works.
No fillers, preservatives, or ANYTHING artificial: this is IMPORTANT !! I FEEL LIKE EVERY PROTEIN POWDER IS TRYING TO SNEAK SHIT IN IT. Anyone else? This one is pretty straight forward ( if you know other brands that are kickass like this, please share below ).
20 g of protein & 18,500 mg of collagen with NO sugar.
Dairy, whey, soy, & gluten, sugar-free.
Let’s also discuss the flavor which is CHOCOLATE COCONUT.
It does NOT taste like chalky disgusting-ness, guys. It tastes…well, actually delicious. And it’s SO good in banana, no-flour protein pancakes with TSC 4 second syrup– I make them on SNAPCHAT a lot if you’re interested ( @laurynevarts ).
Ingredients in the powder? Simple: grass-fed hydrolyzed collagen, coconut milk powder, organic fair-trade cocoa powder, inulin, konjac, monk fruit extract ( used as a sweetener ), sea salt, & organic coca extract ). Also, you should know there’s 4 grams of fiber which is ideal. Add 2 scoops of organic chia seeds & you’ve got fiber galore. I LOVE THE RIGHT KINDS OF FIBER ( for a fiber breakdown, scope this post ). Potassium is 40 mg.
So I’m loving it all.
Description is simple & to the point: “Primal Kitchen Collagen Fuel protein shakes are the perfect drinks to enhance the body’s natural ability to repair joints, tendons and muscles, and to support healthy skin, hair and nails. Collagen is the most abundant source of protein in the human body and one of the top choices for gut health. Our Collagen Fuels contain coconut milk as the primary source of beneficial healthy fat, helping to take the edge off hunger for hours. We source only the purest ingredients, and you won’t find fillers, preservatives or artificial anything in our Collagen Fuel. So get ready to stir, blend, & shake!”
Hello! I’m in.
Collagen is something I add to my smoothie regularly so it’s super efficient that it’s already added with this particular protein. Sometimes I’ll add an extra scoop just for fun time’s sake- the collagen is VERY helpful in making my hair & nails grow. I notice a huge difference.
If you’re wanting to see how I use protein in a smoothie, be sure to watch to this video.
I am writing to you from Greece, actually drinking a protein/water ( when I’m in a pinch, I’ll do protein, water, & chia seeds with ice in my favorite frosted white BlenderBottle ). Bringing a bag of protein when you travel is key. It’s super helpful when you don’t have access to your normal routine.
( If you’re wondering, I love water & ice in my smoothie ).
Greece happened very last minute- Michael’s business partner invited us to sail around Greece & visit the tiny islands. We’re staying on the boat with a bunch of our friends for the week & exploring Greece. I’ll be bringing you guys along on IG Stories & Snapchat, as always.
Since I won’t be able to do a Snapchat giveaway this week, I’m going to do a few fun ones on the blog. We have some INSANE beauty products at the office & I’m going to give away prizes once a day while we’re in Greece. First up, 10 MAC lipsticks in 10 different shades- so fun! To win, simply tell me your favorite lipstick color on my latest Instagram.
Hope you’re all having a productive start to the week!

Of course, thank you for reading. xx
What is the source of protein? I’m confused
The protein comes collagen which is produced from grass-fed cows.x
Looking into this protein powder now! Curious, what is the reasoning behind staying away from whey?
What are the downsides of that protein? I use whey protein all the time because I haven’t heard of that protein and I wish that it’s available here in my country. Anyways, thanks for sharing this with us!
Vega Protein and Greens Smoothie protein power is great! All great ingredients and no chalky taste. No sugar either!

Hi Lauryn. Curious…do you use this as a meal replacement? Do you drink it every day?
I tried to find this protein, but they only have the Hair, Skin, Nail, and Joint support Collagen Fuel or Whey Protein now. Do you have another recommendation for good protein to try?
Taking supplements can provide additional nutrients when your diet is lacking or when certain health conditions cause you to develop an insufficiency or deficiency.
