If you live there, I’m jealous.

You can eat delicious spicy pasta because you’re moving your bod every second. There’s no idle time. In San Diego I’m sitting a lot & in NYC you walk, walk, walk. We’ve walked to coffee, the gym, restaurants, bars, work, etc. My legs hurt we’ve walk so much.

So good, right?

It’s pretty cool moving your body so much. I could get used to it…

Anyway we’re staying at The Andaz on 5th ( << they have the raddest underground craft bar!!! ) for a couple of days & then we’re moving to midtown for a couple of days. Will keep you all updated!

Any recs on where to go in NYC?

Happy Monday! x. L

  1. That’s so awesome! I’ve moved here from Spain and it’s true the energy is super contagious! I’d really recommend you to go to Locanda Verde in TriBeCa if you don’t know it yet (Sheep’s Ricotta and the Grandmother’s ravioli!) and The Beatrice Inn, Rosemary and Aria Wine bar in the West Village. PLEASE go to Big Gay Ice cream in the East Village and have a drink or two in Employees Only in the meatpacking! ENJOY! 🙂

    @meryllaneza

    1. Thanks for the rec! We are going to Big Gay Ice Cream ASAP!!! & we just had a basil cocktail at Employees Only! xx.

  2. Go to Uplift studio on 23rd between 5th and 6th. It’s an all women’s fitness studio with amazing classes!! So close to Union Sq too!

  3. So many places! You’re right, we eat a little bit heavier here in NY than the west coast but we (well most of us) walk walk walk!

    Some restaurant ideas:
    -Gatto
    -Babbo
    -MOMOFUKU SSÄM BAR
    -Gramercy Tavern
    -Beauty & Essex
    -Sushi Nakazawa or Sushi Yasuda

    Don’t forget to take a walk on the high line (its an elevated 1 mile linear park)…so nice! Enjoy NY!

  4. Penelope on Lexington & 30th is a must for a breakfast/brunch splurge! Becco for dinner and great drinks… 46th between 8th and 9th Avenues.

  5. Welcome to NYC! If you are in the mood for brunch, I highly recommend Buttermilk Channel in Brooklyn or a small place called Kitchenette on the Upper West Side… for dinner I am in love with Eatery (locations all over midtown), Negril Village (West Village), S’Mac (Midtown… and amazing mac n cheese), Riposo 72 or Riposo 46 (midtown and upper west side… the flatbreads and wine selection is amazing!)…. gosh, the list could go on and on. I am living in NYC and loving it.

  6. welcome! glad you love our city! molyvos is great for greek food (7th avenue in the 50s…55th i think) babbo is amazing for italian (downtown…can’t remember the address. it’s in the village) balthazar for french bistro. spring street cafe in SoHo. shopping in meat market district (scoop! 7. Lauryn! Obsessed with your blog and love to hear that you are crushing on NYC (who could blame you). I live right by the Smile (NoHo is the world’s best hood) and work right by the Andaz. I have tons of recommendations for places to eat/drink/shop/peoplewatch if you need any!! xx ENJOY

  8. I was actually just in NYC last week & wrote a post on some fun things to do while you’re there. I used to live there for 2 years prior to moving to San Diego… I miss it so much!

    Here ya go: {http://www.mylifemappedblog.com/new-york-city-stroll/}

  9. – Pure Food and Wine – THE BEST raw food and an amazing outdoor seating area
    – Juice Press – delicious juices and smoothies
    – David’s Tea – just get a bag of their tea and you will be in heaven.

  10. Sat/Sun Brunch at Harefield Road in Brooklyn is so delicious! And inexpensive $12 for food and mimosa/bloody mary! Have fun in NY 🙂

  11. Lauryn, I love your blog and I also LOVE NYC!!
    My husband and I are flying out Sat AM and staying for the Canada Day long weekend until Tuesday (we’re from Ottawa, Ontario and celebrating Canada Day in the Big Apple)!
    Include more restos and bars as I’ll check out your blog before we go to add to our list of places to see / eat at.
    We were in NYC for NYE in 2012 and it was phenomenal, we can’t get enough of it!
    Enjoy your stay! xo

  12. So jealous you are in NYC! I’ve had such a craving for he Big Apple. You HAVE to check out Campbell Apartment in Grand Central station. You will feel like you just teleported to some fancy prohibition undercover bar. Another place (last time I was there was years ago but it was amaze, so hopefully still just as great) is Aspen Social Club. Their antler chandelier is spectacular and I remember all the food being so so so good. Blind Tiger (I think on or around Christopher) is great too for some beers and then you can always go to the classic Gastropub, the Spotted Pig! Also, cannot forget the fancy pants champagne cocktails from the Plaza. Have so, so, sooooo much fun!

  13. Yay NYC!! I moved from Texas to Brooklyn 3 months ago. The city is incredible! I think you would love the bar that is on top of the Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg (brooklyn). It has an incredible view of manhattan. You would also love my favorite coffee shop– Grounded– which is in west village.

  14. That pasta looks amaze. It’s nice to see that you take advantage of vacays and eat delicious food. I can’t stand when I see people taking trips and going to super nice restaurants where they order “such and such pasta with no cheese, add this, subtract that, go light on this.” AKA people who can’t lighten the F up and have a little fun. NYC pizza sounds so delish right now. Enjoy your time there! xx

  15. Ahhhh I’m so jealous!! You need to go to the high line while you’re there- so so pretty! Hope you’re having a blast girl! Xo, D

  16. Hope you had a great trip! I lived in NYC for 3.5 years and moved to Northern California last September…and immediately gained 5 lbs even though I am an active person. That walking really adds up and it is so easy to stay in decent shape! Miss it so much.
