Hellllooooo from Miami!

I flew here Friday for a little work…& a little play.

Definitely been to Florida before but never been to Miami so it’s been interesting to say the least.

I’m loving the banana tree print for one. For two, the weather is gorgeous (!!!) although I’m told that during the summertime it’s humid as F. Anyone? & of course, the energy is amazing. I love it.

Yes, & also in South Beach the theme seems to be guys with their shirt off with a lot ( like, a lot, alot ) of gel in their hair ( not trying to sterotype here, I’m just pointing out what I’ve seen. Side: how is it possible to host that much gel in one’s hair? ). So far I’m loving the pool at The Standard, Zuma, Prime 112, The Broken Shaker, & The Bazaar. We’re moving around, hotel-wise. First we were at the SLS & now we’re in Bal Harbor at The St. Regis…& then we’re off to Clearwater near Tampa.

I asked some of you guys on Facebook where to go & you all shared the best recommendations…but if you have ANY other recommendations, please share below. I’m pretty much clueless when it comes to Florida & don’t want to miss out on a must-see.

And honestly, if an alligator magically made its way to our hotel, I’d be very happy. I’m fully obsessed with creatures like lizards, platypus, anteaters, etc. And I feel like Florida is known for it’s alligator population ( sterotype? ).

Ok, share any recommendations below— thanks guys! x

  1. So jealous! I was just there two weeks ago. Miami in the fall is perfect. I stayed at the James Royal Palm on Collins… Contemporary Luxury, cool art throughout, and a kick ass restaurant called the Florida Cookery Patio. If you’re searching for a great sushi place, try Doraku off Lincoln. Afterwards, if you want to try a nice (and newish) bar with over 150 (I think… It is A LOT) beers on tap, go to The Yard House. Try the Woodchuck Pumpkin Ale or their dirty martini with olive juice on the side. Have fun!! Miami is lovely?

  3. Rok:Brgr is one of my faves. Also, my uncle is a “alligator hunter” jk he doesn’t hunt the alligators but he relocates them when people see them near their houses and whatnot. They probably won’t harm you but people are afraid they’ll eat their small dogs or attack children or something. The relocation process is really interesting.

  4. Go to South Pointe park which is south of 5th st around when the sun is going down and have a drink at the outside bar at Smith and Wellensky and enjoy the gorgeous views. The crowd is mixed and so so but it’s too pretty to skip.

If you are around brickell (downtown Miami) you should email me and you should come to the pool that I love it. It’s an infinity pool overlooking the water. Just so serene and relaxing.

  5. I love Miami, the hubs and I were going to move there but ended up in Cabo San Lucas! Have fun out there I forget all of the restaurants we went to but we did go to LIV and Mansion as well as the W! Hope you have a great time xo C

  6. have fun in miami! we are having perfect weather in florida right now so enjoy it 🙂 and the alligator thing is not a cliche – it’s almost normal to see one walk across the street on any given day.

  7. About 10 minutes north of you in Sunny Isles Beach is the cutest little healthy spot – totally up you’re alley. All organic, gourmet yumminess with craft beers & organic wine. It’s called Basil Park. My hubby & I eat here at least once a week 🙂

  8. I think you will have better luck spotting a manatee in Florida, especially if you’re close to a manatee zone!

And yes …. humid as F.

    Have a blast!

  9. I was born in/lived in the Destin area for a long time! Seaside is the absolute best. If you’ve already been, then you know how cuuuute the little town is. Its like something from a freaking movie. It is a MUST if you haven’t been. Plus, the tourists are gone around this time, so the beach is so quiet and relaxing. Its actually perfect!

  10. OMG I’m currently living in Miami! I LOVEEE Zuma, good choice girl. I also recommend you check out the nightlife like STORY, Wall, LIV, E11EVEN, Mansion, etc. I’d also check out Wynwood Art District for great places to enjoy art, food, and drinks (I recommend Sugar Cane Raw Bar Grill). Also Collins Avenue is a great place to go shopping down by south beach! Have fun, and enjoy the lovely weather 🙂 x

  11. I seriously was tempted to drive to Miami to meet you face to face (i live like 20 min away!). You def came at the right weekend, the weather was beyond gorge! And yes, summer is hot as balls – def avoid coming here anytime between june-august!

Clearwater beaches are to die for, like literally clear.water. If you’re in the mood to ‘cheat’ there is an amazing place called Berns. Go to the dessert room, its a must do.

    Enjoy!!!

  12. Go to the Birchwood Rooftop for some lounge/firepit fun in St. Petersburg, and go to Castille, it’s at the bottom of Hotel Zamora for amazing food!

  13. I live in St Pete- I second Courtney’s rec on Birchwood’s rooftop bar! (it’s definitely a drive from Clearwater, but so worth it!) If you’re venturing out in Tampa, try Oxford Echange which has an amazing restaurant, juice bar, coffee shop, and storefront with unique finds. Enjoy!!

  14. I live in St. pete as well. I agree with Courtney & Caroline’s recommendations. I prefer the beaches and vibe of St. Pete over Clearwater so if you can you should try to check out St. Pete!

  15. I, too, live in St. Pete and agree. The humidity is a b and it’s impossible for perfect makeup/hair from May-about a week ago, but that’s about to change! If you’re driving up, you should stop in Sarasota in Siesta Key for an incredible sunset and should check out Dunedin Brewery in the Clearwater area. Also, downtown St. Pete has some pretty incredible places to check out. Enjoy!

  16. So jealous that you still get to sit by the pool and wear your summer clothes! I love autumn but it’s getting freezing cold here in England and I’m craving summer fruits.
