[ The stunning Hotel Danieli ]
Ahhhhh, Venice! Although you’re an entire bitch to travel to [ two planes + a boat ], but oh, soooo worth it!!
The boat we took from the airport dock took us directly in front of our hotel, the gorgeous Hotel Danieli. After dropping our bags off, we immediately beelined to their rooftop restaurant, Terrazza Danieli, famished & in serious need of a glass of vino. We ordered salads as apps & pasta as entrees [ hey! It’s Italy! ] + a bottle of a big red wine; it was extremely romantic to overlook the city & unwind. I like pasta, but let’s be clear, I don’t die over it. However {!!!}, the pasta I ate at this restaurant surpassed my expectations in every way. It was literally perfect spaghetti. Honestly, I never want to eat pasta again because nothing will compare Italy’s version. Oh, and I convinced Michael to take me back to the same restaurant. The next night. To eat that pasta. Again. Needless to say, breakfast’s in Italy were sparse. Think egg whites & veggies. [ <<< An example of balancing your diet like a checkbook ].
Recommendations from my Venice experience: obviously run as fast as you can to the Terrazza Danieli & eat pasta. During the day we did a ton of walking, which was welcomed because of my carb coma. Definitely enjoy the wine in Venice- Italian wine is my absolute favorite. Take advantage of the fruit stands; instead of stuffing my face at breakfast & lunch too, I snacked while shopping roaming the streets. Some examples: eggs in the AM, cherries, lots of Insalata Caprese, nuts [ brought from home ], tons of water, kiwi slices, a scoop of gelato, an arugula salad at a small cafe, & yes, of course, hello {??}, some Pinot Grigio. In Europe, walking is your best friend!
