Happy Monday! It’s OCTOBER 12TH. How are we already in October?! I mean geez, it’s nearly Thanksgiving. Time flies, ehh?

This weekend started off swimmingly at Neiman Marcus. It was The Nanz’ birthday so we did the appropriate thing & went sunglass shopping ( she went with aviators ) with a side of Neiman’s popovers, strawberry butter, & sparkling rosé. I had a burger, medium rare, with disgusting amounts of avocado & jalapeños WITHOUT A BUN. No bun, because when you eat your body weight in pasta, you lay off the buns for a while, you know?

Balance! I THRIVE off it.

SO! Saturday was spent at my friend’s son’s birthday party & I ended it in bed watching Damages. Sunday was mellow, which was nice since life has been go, go, go lately. Today I woke up ready to bust my ass with TSC Bombshell Body Guide in the gym…& I ended up staying in the gym for two hours because again, that’s what you do when you stuffed your face with carbs in Paris.

{ mornings w/ my three favorites: my dogs & TSC detox drink }

Anyway, this whole balancing act has also involved a lot of raw almond butter, lemon water, lentils, kale, more water, sweat, walking, veggies, & hanging out with the dogs. & to be honest, I actually love detoxing, there’s something therapeutic about it. Weird, right.

And as much as I love to detox, I still love to retox a little too. BUT, there’s definitely something special about spending time in bed, watching 13 year old Gia on New Jersey Housewives use bigger words than me while Boone loudly sharpens his toenails on my pillow ( but really- he does this. He sharpens them until they’re literally razor blades ).

And wow, not going to lie…I already miss New York City & Paris. I texted Michael six million times the other day asking when we could go back to Paris for warm croissants & apricot jam ( clearly I need tea time too ) & he was like, “uhmmm didn’t we just get back?”

So I bombarded him with sixty two million more texts of why we needed to go back this month.

Will let you know how where that conversation goes. So far I’ve just received a shot gun Emoji back.

Ultimately the older I get the more I realize my balance scale is EXTREME. I’m either having a ball OR putting my head down, working, sweating, & getting shit done. And I guess I’m ok with that— it’s who I am. There’s never really been an in between for me? Total gemini, right?

I just can’t really do, well, anything in the middle. HOT OR COLD, WHITE OR BLACK, BURNING MY FACE OFF SPICY OR SERIOUSLY SO ACIDIC.

THE STRUGGLE.

How do you stay balanced after having FUN? Please keep the fabulous tips coming, I need all the help I can get at this point.

  1. Lots of water, sleep, avocado, coconut oil, yoga/gym, & reliving the fun by going through pics over and over again! Always having something fun planned in the future to look forward to, even if it’s a few weeks away, is what always keeps me going! Could be another trip, or even just getting lattes with friends! Work hard, play hard! Xx

  2. Wow !!! In your bed pic was very cute. You have such innocent eyes. You look the most beautiful without make-up. And about the weighty issues after a relaxing holiday is only exercising and exercising for me!!!

    1. You are seriously so sweet! Than you! I know, I am in definite need of some exercise after all that traveling. Thanks for your comment and thanks for reading <3

  3. Bare basics! That’s how I like to detox. Lots of walking & water & eating whole foods. I mentioned on Insta that I was free of caffeine – thanks for the green tea latte / turmeric tip! Totally saved my ass this morning ? Xx

    1. Hi Nicola, of course! So glad you like the tip. Have you tried it yet? Thoughts? How do you feel? Also, I love the walking, water, and eating whole foods for detox tip. It’s less drastic. Thanks for sharing! xx

  4. Love your all of your Mini DeLites posts, especially this one! I can totally relate to being at one extreme or the other. I find that it works for me – I love being super healthy all week, but I look forward to going a little crazy on the weekend as a reward. It’s all about balancing the two!

  5. Loved this post lady! I can totally identify re: balance scale. At least detoxing makes one say NO to gourmet dinners bf’s will eat even after they’ve stuffed themselves with pasta for two weeks.

What book are you reading? My friend recommended Primates of Park Avenue…I’m visiting NY on Thurs for the first time since we moved away, so gotta get in the mood with this book! 😛 xx

  6. Sounds like you are doing a good job with the balance. I do the same thing….eat like crazy and have tons of fun on vacation. Then come back home and eat salads and veggies and sleep, sleep, sleep. It makes for a fun life

  7. I hear you on the NYC obsession. My husband and I live in Miami during the winter and Connecticut during the April-November and we cannot stay out of New York. The city just has a magnetic pull. We go there at least two times a month and eat, drink, shop the entire time. Then we come home and we’re like okay lets eat healthy, make money and just chill out. This spring we came home from Miami and immediately sublet an apartment for the months of April and May in the Gramercy neighborhood. We wanted to get the real feel of living in the City, it was exhausting but amazing at the same time.

I loved your boss tips on mydomaine!!

    1. Hi Chelsa, I definitely agree. That’s so rad you rented a place for a couple months in NYC. You have to spend a lot of time in NYC to get the real deal feel. Just a few days is not enough time. Thanks for reading! xx

  8. I love all of your posts! You are my spirit animal for sure (two chihuahuas, obsessed with anything organic, but balanced). You topics are always on point. Ok, so I LOVE your blue chair. I have been on the hunt for an office chair and that is what I have been looking for. Could you tell me where you got it? Thanks!!

  9. Canadian thanksgiving this past weekend = 3 days of zero balance. Best thing for me is to just get to the gym – even slow and sluggish, it just gets you back into the mindset. And definitely sleep!

    1. Hi Emily! I totally agree! A slow and sluggish workout is better than no workout at all. Thanks for reading! <3

  10. I feel you on the balance thing. Now that I’m back in school it’s so hard for me to remind myself to have balance…I’m either on a rager at Yacht Week with my class, or locked in my apartment doing homework for hours straight.

  11. I just randomly found your site and I gotta say…you seem pretty cool (and I like your blogs that I’ve seen in the past 30 minutes).
    🙂
Can’t wait to read/learn more! Thanks!

  12. Ok which Neiman’s were you at?! Are there popovers at the SD location or was this SF.

    Sincerely,
    Trying to detox, but can’t.

  13. Hey Lauryn – loving the navy chair you’re sitting in. Can you let me know where to order? Must have! Thx!!

  14. As always, you’ve succeeded in motivating me. It’s a great reminder that when we fall off, that we just have to get back on and keep working through. Balance, balance, balance. Right? Thanks for another wonderful post! Glad to see you back! <3
