Hello, hello from Seattle!
Busy Monday— I’m here for work but if you guys have any fun, non-work recommendations, definitely let me know below.
Earlier last week my trainer ( he’s helping me get back into the gym slowly ), Mike & I were shooting the shit. I was telling him about a particular annoyance & asking him if I was handling the situation right.
He said: “There is no such thing as right. My way might be right for me, your way might be right for you.”
{ packing makeup favorites }
For some reason that’s been repeating through my mind for the last week.
There is no such thing as ‘right’, right?
This further resonated while reading through so many of your comments from this post on creativity ( YOU GUYS ARE SO TALENTED, MY GOSH ). And from the looks of it, it seems most of you are doing what’s right for you.
I remember when I was launching a blog in 2010-ish & so many people said “HUH? WHAT DO YOU MEAN A BLOG? HOW ARE YOU GOING TO MAKE ANY MONEY? IS THAT EVEN A JOB?”
AWKWARD.

Obviously I followed my instincts & did what was RIGHT for ME. If I had listened to all the Negative Nancy’s, I’d still be bartending until midnight five nights a week.
It’s invigorating to pick & choose what’s right for you. You have that power to dictate your life & no one really has any business telling you otherwise.
As I get older, I’m no longer interested in letting anyone tell me ‘what’s right’ or wrong because ultimately there is no ‘right.’
Am I making sense?
Just some thoughts.
Also, in a continued effort to share more content, I’m doing weekly newsletters. These are filled with TSC updates, personal letters, & much more so definitely subscribe by leaving your e-mail in the comment section or in the subscribe box to the right.
NOW I am off to watch Narcos ( BEST SHOW ) & prepare for a full day of activities in Seattle tomorrow. Will keep ya posted.
Sending the best Monday vibes, lauryn

Yay newsletter! madvsworld@gmail.com xx
I totally agree that right is different for each person. I have always done things different compared to everyone else. I didn’t purposely do so, it just continued to happen for some reason or another. Even when it came to college and career. I think it is neat how we all react differently to situations!
Hi Alexis, I completely agree. Everyone is different! Be yourself, everyone else is taken! xx <3
Love that ice cube tray!! Great post– You are my biggest inspiration! xo
Aw thanks Julie! You are so sweet. Thanks for reading. xx
How beautiful is you Nanz! Must be good to know you have those genes and will be a hot Nanz yourself one day 🙂 I agree on listening to your gut. I ignored it a few times and listened to people older than me this year, what a mistake! When you think you might need to bang the table, my advice is do it – as elegantly as possible. xx
Hi Jill! Totally agree about being yourself. It’s so important. Do you! Nanz is the best :)) Thanks for reading!
PS. Yay for the newletter! Signing up now 🙂
yay! xx
I’m excited to see what your emails are like, I’ve been wanting to start my own so a little inspiration always helps!
xx,
Susie

Go to Stateside and get some delicious Thai/French cuisine and cocktails in coconuts!
Thanks for the rec Emil :)) Thanks for reading! <3
And if your waiter’s name is Tripp tell him I miss him!
It’s kinda of funny, I read that whole post, but I only remember one bit. “If I had listened to the negative Nancy’s, I’d still be bartending until midnight five nights a week” and I just wanted to say thank you. That’s exactly what I needed to hear.
Hi Shell! So glad you found something that resonates with you :)) Don’t let anyone influence you, do what is right for you. xx <3
Hi Lauryn, love your blog and love the message in your post today! I really love the Seattle Art Museum. it is right downtown and I could wander it for hours. Also Kirkland is just a short bus ride away and it has such a cute little down town area right on the waterfront of Lake Washington. Enjoy your trip!
Thanks for the recommendations Britt, I appreciate it. Thanks for reading :)) xx

Hi Lauryn! Welcome to Seattle… I actually live in Tacoma (south Puget Sound). Come on down if you have time! You have to see the glass museum. Also there are some amazing restaurants in the “6th Avenue District” – Masa, Asado, Red Hot, Primo.
We are loving Narcos too! We just started watching it and we’re hooked!
Looking forward to the newsletter. Have a great visit here in the Evergreen state!
So excited for a newsletter! Lexcherney@yahoo.com
Seattle is the. best. ever. Honestly, in every neighborhood, pretty much anywhere you go is fantastic. And almost every restaurant is locally sourced/farm to table. Just walk around, every neighborhood has something gorgeous to see or a park with awesome views. I’m partial to Belltown and Pike Place Market area, but you can’t really go wrong.
Top Recommendations:
Pike Place Market: Seatown Seabar (breakfast), Steelhead Diner (lunch or dinner)
Belltown: Pintxo for the best tapas and drinks, Local 360 (amazing farm to table, especially for breakfast), Branzino (dinner)
If you can go to Bainbridge Island (closest island via ferry) – take advantage, it’s beautiful (even in the evening/night) and check out The Pegasus Coffee House (their menu changes daily but it’s always really good!)
Coffee:
Uptown Espresso (Velvet foam lattes)
Zeitgeist
Victrola Coffee Roasters
Caffe Ladro
Welcome to seattle!! Bars: Canon Whiskey and Bitters (go for happy hour and get the pork belly buns! capital hill), Quinn’s (capital hill). Brunch: Lolita (downtown), boat street cafe (downtown), Le pichet (downtown). Wander: the sculpture garden and chihuly’s exhibit

Glad you’re feeling better love! Enjoy Seattle!
I live across the lake in Bellevue-of course we have had an amazing summer and when you come up its raining! Hopefully you’ll get a little break and be able to see all the mountains. Poppy on Capital Hill is an amazing restaurant, I tell everyone who will listen to check it out. If you like Sushi, O Hana in Belltown is a fun little place. I grew up in Kirkland and agree with the other commenter above-its a cute little town with lots of good restaurants and shops! Enjoy your trip!
I totally agree! So genius!
Loving the personal notes in your newsletter! Glad to see you feeling a little bit better 🙂 xo!
This is such a badass post – I love it! You do you and no one else can tell you different. It is hard to block out negative bullshit, but it is necessary to keep progressing while not losing sight of yourself. Very wise words from your trainer 🙂
Thank you for this post!! I love that, do what’s right for you! I feel like a lot of people don’t understand why I blog and it’s frustrating sometimes but this post definitely keeps me motivated 🙂 thnx girl!
Your Nanz is gorgeous, especially in the color blue!

You gotta be YOU that is the best thing to do 🙂 You have come so far and its because you work hard + do what you know is right! Love it xo C
Thank you for this post. I am going to use the quote that someone else pointed out, about you bartending until mid night. I have people say things like that and it is nice you said what you did. Recently someone suggested a few ideas that they know don’t work for me. It might be right for them, not me.

Hi Lauryn! I completely agree, if we listened to people’s thoughts and opinions on how we should be dictating our lives we’d be miserable! Also this post reminds me of a similar lesson I came to terms with a few days ago. Basically, I realised the fact that you don’t have to be likeable to everyone, there are just some people whom won’t enjoy your company and vice versa, and that’s completely okay :).
i am so obsessed with you! I actually finished your 3 day juice detox last night, feelin great for the weekend. Down here in Mexico not a lot of ppl detox so everyones been asking me about it 🙂 definitely wanna receive your newsletter: andie_dltm@hotmail.com
