So. I’m reading the book Wheat Belly.
Heard of it?
If you haven’t, check it out. It’s pretttty interesting.
The theory ( << & I haven’t formed an opinion yet ) is that eating any type of wheat adds chunk-a-de-chunk ( well, these are my words; the book states that it adds belly fat…).
Essentially the author says that wheat is the reason American’s are fat. Well, I’m going to do a little testy, westy- AKA go wheat-free for a few days & see what happens.
I’ll keep you all updated on my conclusion. Supposedly I’m set to experience higher energy levels, weight loss, & glowing, sparkling skin.
Can’t wait.
Some of the other perks: eliminating wheat can cure diseases & rashes…hmmm. I’m more about moderation, moderation, moderation, but it’s worth a try?
Happy Monday,

I can’t wait to hear how going wheat free goes for you! I love all the pics btw 🙂
Hmmm. I keep wondering if going gluten or wheat free (for those who don’t have to for medical reasons) is this seasons’ Atkins, Dukan, etc. diets. Please keep us updated on how it goes for you, I always appreciate your honest opinions when it comes to things like this!
I have heard of this book! I am so excited that you will be the guinea pig! Let me know what you think. You already look fab! I look forward to what you have to say about it all.
Omg! I can not wait to hear what you think of this!!! If you get results… I’m totally doing it! I can trying to think of all the things I eat with wheat in them!?! What does it suggest eating in place of??
I’m excited to see what you think! I found out I have Celiac’s about 4 months ago so I haven’t had wheat since then and I ‘ve seen all of the benefits that it says you’ll have. It was hard at first to find things to eat but now I love it! Good luck girl! 🙂
Can´t wait to hear about the results. If it works ´ll probably stop eating wheat too. Well at least a few days 🙂
xx
My friend did Whole30 and lost close to 15 lbs! I agree with you, though- moderation is key.
Been wheat free since I discovered the Paleo lifestyle and I do not miss it at all! I use coconut flour for baking treats and am just as pleased with that! 😉 Good luck on your wheat free adventure, I’m sure you’ll do great.
OMG ! My dad read this book and has currently been wheat free for about a year. However we are from Canada and yet to have gluten free beer, so he still drinks the occasional beer. But, he loves it! He claims its one of the greatest decisions he’s ever made, and is constantly preaching and teaching people about it! It is quite the adjustment, and defiantly takes hard work and dedication but because of this book our whole family has gone wheat free. Of course the odd slip up happens around Christmas time with all the pies. But I was completely cold turkey from August- November and have never felt better. I didn’t experience withdrawal symptoms like he talks about in this book, but after being 3 months clean of wheat and eating it again in December and January my energy levels dropped, and daily headaches came back. I really think you will feel great and see the results….defiantly in energy levels, and I was never bloated !! I’m back on being wheat free and hopefully I can stick with it longer than 3 months, GOOD LUCK! let us know how it goes 🙂
Factinated to know how it goes for you, as I’ve been researching and considering that myself! Just haven’t gotten organized yet 🙂 Btw you and your bf are so cute together and such a goodlooking couple!!! It makes me smile whenever you put up pics of you two because you look so in love with each other <3
I have been wheat -free for two months, because my acupuncturist recommended it to boost my energy levels and said that wheat isn’t good for women in general. I have never felt better or more energized in my life. I have been living in Europe for the last 3 months and have found it easy to get spelt bread and baked goods. Spelt seems to be lower in calories as well. I am concerned about finding spelt when I move back in two weeks, because there is a difference between being wheat free and gluten free, although gluten free alternatives tend to be ok. Any bloating in my face and stomach immediately disappeared within the first week. I am so glad you are looking into this because a lot of your fun recipes contain wheat or dairy. The only bad thing is that since I have been free of both wheat and dairy, if I have even the slightest bit of either I get a massive migraine because my body isn’t used to digesting it. I hope you learn a lot and see that it is better to avoid it.
I went gluten free last year, for about 6 months. My digestion improved a lot, I felt lighter, more energetic and even lost a couple LBs! but eventually decided it wasn’t for me. Now whenever I eat foods heavy in gluten, which is rare, I feel bloated and uncomfortable.
I agree, “moderation, moderation, moderation”.
Also, It takes a while for your body to react to being gluten-free (longer than a few days). My doctor told me I should expect changes after about a month, but I swear I was feeling super energetic after about two weeks.
Good luck!
I’ve been eyeballing this book for a while, I’ll be interested to see what you think.
(FYI, the “Wheatbelly” link took me to an Anthropologie sale)
Hey! I read this book and tried the wheat-free diet. It definitely made me feel more energized, skin cleared up and no bloat. However, I thought it was incredibly hard because wheat is in everything! So I can’t wait to hear your opinion and any suggestions you have for going wheat-free!
I read Wheat Belly and had been on the fence about going gluten free because of digestion issues. I think I am slightly allergic (my aunt has Celiac’s) and if I eat gluten now after being off of it, I get migraines instantly!
Definitely worth it to skip headaches and acid reflux (which was a daily occurrence for me) to not eat wheat.
