I literally barely unpacked my suitcase in Miami.
You just really don’t need much, you know?
A couple of bathing suits, a chic hat, some lotions, coconut oil, flip flops, & a book…and you’re golden.
Here’s a quick breakdown of some of my must-haves:
1.) Bathing suits:
Definitely a one piece ( or two ) & tons of bikinis. Lately I’ve been very much in to a one piece. It has to fit right for me to love it. The lower the back, the more flattering. Also, it can’t poof outward— does this happen to anyone else? LOL. It has to hug you in all the right places.
2.) Hats:
I’ve been LOVING Janessa Leone’s hats lately. They’re sort of an investment but buy two & you’re good for a while. Her hats are made with the utmost quality & I know this sounds weird but I feel like she designs the hats with women in mind.
My favorite, go-to hat is my straw-ish one that’s white with a thin black strap. It goes with everything but most importantly it keeps my face out of the sun…I HATE THE SUN as you know, the more protection the better.
3.) Raw oil mixture x lotion:
Ok so I’m really in love with this little oil mixture that a reader named Amanda recommended to me ( she’s said it’s made by a master herbalist ). It’s called Herbal Beauty Cream & it contains things like organic apricot oil, aloe vera gel, organic jojoba, cocoa butter, and calendula flower. It moisturizes my skin & face like nothing I’ve ever tried. I’ve been using it for the past month & my skin eats it up.
Since I want to use it on my whole body, I mix it with Vaseline Intensive Care Deep Moisture Jelly Cream. I like this cream because it’s super thick going on but when it’s on my body it doesn’t feel thick. So when I’m traveling to somewhere like Miami ( HELLO HUMIDITY! ) this is perfect. I hate feeling like a wax figure.
My trick with the two of these is I mixed them together. Here’s the thing: the herbal beauty cream is like a coconut oil & it’s a small tin. To be able to mix it with Vaseline Jelly Cream allows me to put the concoction all over my body. I mix a little of the oil cream with the jelly cream & it’s the BEST body lotion ever.
4.) Flip-flops:
Or in my case sliders. I love sliding shoes on & off my feet and I feel like the whole flip-flop movement is going out and sliders are IN. These snake skin ones are super cute. They were perfect for Miami too because they’re sort of flamboyant.
Sliders are IT!
5.) Books:
Not a iPad. In Miami you’re in the sun sometimes so a book is better because there’s no glare. Plus I just like the smell and feel of books.
I am finishing up Kym Gold’s book ( the co-founder of True Religion ) and I LOVE it. Michael told me something about reading three books at a time. He reads three genres: non fiction, fiction, & an autobiography. Kym’s book is an autobiography so I also brought two other books to try his intersecting thoughts theory. For the non-fiction book I’m reading The French Beauty Solution. And the fiction I’m reading A Time To Kill.
Books & the beach ( under an umbrella, of course ) are kind of my favorite combo ever. Add some chips & guacamole and I’m really just in heaven.
Anyway, those are my Miami must-haves. Of course, I also have a huge bottle of SPF. HUGE. It goes perfect under my cream & jelly mix too. Stay tuned for a Miami vlog.
Happy Friday,

Love the hat you have in the picture above. I need one just like that!
These views are to die for! ❤️
Hey babe! Hope that you had a blast!! Where is your skirt from in these pics?? So cute!! Thanks girl! Xxoo Andrea
Love Michael’s approach to books!
Questions – do you worry about parabens in your personal care items? I just noticed that the Vaseline you recommend has methylparaben, which is something I ALWAYS try to avoid – esp since your skin absorbs so much of what we put on it. Would love to hear your opinion!
I love the skirt you are wearing in the photos! So adorable! 🙂
Can you please post your skirt/t-shirt details?
Skirt is borrowed from a friend & is from a thrift store. The top is Forever21. It’s just a white tee : ). Hope that helps! x
So glad you’re having fun babe! SPF all day. My sun worshiping high school days still haunt me, ha.

Wondering if you read The Power of the Dog (prequel to The Cartel) …. I loved the cartel ( saw that you were reading it and said what the hell I need a new book) and decided to read the prequel SO GOOD! If you liked the Cartel you will LOVE it.
