OMG, ok so do you guys remember Teen Mom? I watched it as if I was like birthing the baby ( lamaze pregnancy breaths & all ) with Amber & rolled my eyes at Farrah practically every second (<< brat! ).
BUT.
Do you remember Dalis?
I sure do.
One rowdy Friday night I was watching the show & saw that Ryan ( Maci’s ex, duh ) had a new girlfriend. Immediately I was curious. She was fit, bubbly, & super pretty. Naturally I went straight to Twitter to find her & we became Twitter friends & the rest is history, so new age right.
Anyway, after watching Dalis’ Instagram I was so impressed with her fitness life that I couldn’t NOT interview. So here you go, meet Dalis ( p.s. die for her tea tree oil tip below, so doing that ):
| Tell us about yourself |:
Dalis Connell: I’m originally from Ventura, California but moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee my junior year of high school. I graduated from Tennessee Tech University this past December ( 2014 ) with my Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science, where I also had a track & field scholarship all four years.
I signed with a modeling agency this past November so I am currently doing a mixture of print modeling, film, & promotional modeling. I’m also a personal trainer at a local gym!
As far as modeling, I can’t talk about things that haven’t come out yet but a few things that recently have come out are my feature in The Lacs Music Video “God Bless a Country Girl”, modeling in the look book for Ahimsa Clothing & a feature on Arsenic Mag.
| Quick skinny tips or tricks? |
DC: Drinking a lot of water is SO important for reducing belly bloating ( although many people think otherwise ). Try not to eat carbs/sugar after 3 or 4 PM. Workout at least five times a week for 30 minutes. Do not be afraid of carbs! Try to limit and/or eliminate fast food, it really is horrible for you.
| Weekly workout schedule? |
DC: It varies. As of right now I am trying to put on lean muscle mass so I do not do much cardio, except for walking. Normally, I work out two body parts a day early in the morning.
| Favorite go-to healthy food? |
DC: My favorite actual meal would be salads. They are so easy and fast to prepare. You can always make different kinds of salads with different veggies and fruit each time to mix it up. My favorite go-to healthy snack would by far be pineapple! After pineapple I would have to go with almonds or walnuts.
| Cocktail of choice? |
I don’t drink often but when I do my drink of choice is wine. A glass of wine a couple times a week actually has many health benefits, unless someone already has an existing condition where alcohol makes it worse. So do not feel guilty drinking ONE glass of wine. After one glass, it can become unhealthy.
| Can’t-live-without beauty product? |
DC: My leave-in conditioner & mascara!
| Secret model tip? |
DC: Your eyes say a lot about the picture, so bring the intensity or softness with your eyes!
| Natural beauty remedy? |
DC: All natural aloe vera on my face. Whenever I have a breakout, that is my go-to remedy.
| When I wake up I… |
DC: Hit snooze at least 4 times. Then I drink a full Dasani water bottle. You wake up so dehydrated and do not even know it! Drinking water right when you wake up is so important and can also make you have more energy.
| WTF’s in your purse? |
DC: My wallet of course, my daily medications, MAC lip gloss, EOS lip balm, lotion, tweezers, nail clippers, mini spray bottle of tea tree oil and water mixture, & my pink mace keychain!
I’m really weird about bed bugs, head lice, etc so I carry the tea tree oil and water mixture so if I am staying in a hotel or getting on a flight, I spray the bed or seat down, along with a few spurts in my hair. Apparently some bugs hate the smell of tea tree oil and won’t get near anything that has that smell. Call me weird but so far it has worked! I won’t take any chances, haha!
| Five pieces of clothing you’re loving |
DC: Definitely jogger pants, diamond crop tops, Vans slip-ons , kimonos, & of course high-waisted shorts!
| Quick, easy recipe? |
DC: Favorite salad: grilled chicken seasoned with Mr. Dash, avocado slices, pecans, spinach, goat cheese, & balsamic vinaigrette. Yum!

What a beauty! I love these type of posts where you question people on their health/ fitness tips. I always pick up a bit of inspiration from them! Really liked her take on alcohol … So many people see it as a no-go when trying to live a healthy lifestyle, and have an all-or-nothing-approach. I def see it as something to be enjoyed (in moderation) as part of a healthy lifestyle 🙂

I have been trying to drink more water lately, and do pretty good during the week at work, but need to seriously do a better job on the weekend! This was a good reminder of how important it is to my body and fitness. Thank you!

Thanks for the tea tree oil tip! Ill be road tripping across the country in two weeks and I’m already being psychotic about the hotel beds! I use Bumble and Bumbles Tonic spray almost daily, smells amazing and feels refreshing on your scalp (its the tea tree oil!). Im gonna shower myself in this before we hit those beds at night!!! Thanks 🙂
