Tell us about yourself

Amanda Griffith: I’m an Australian model currently living in…well as I am writing this I am actually sitting on the plane moving to New York! I’ve been living in LA for the past three months & now I’m off on my next adventure. I grew up in a small town on the east coast of Australia, very close by to where I would say is one of the most beautiful towns in the world, Byron Bay. I’m definitely an ocean/nature girl at heart & become very unsettled when I haven’t spent some time in either for a while! I’m half way through studying interior & spatial design at University back in Sydney however have put that on hold whilst I make the most of traveling the world for work.

Any fitness tricks/tips?

AG: I feel there are too many fad-diets on how to lose weight that we are becoming overly obsessive with food and weight loss and are looking at the foods around us in a completely different and un-natural way. There is no quick fix to being skinny, the key is to maintain a balanced, healthy lifestyle. Some of my tips:

♡ Don’t place un-realistic restrictions on foods

♡ Eat organic, whole foods that are closest to their natural-raw state

♡ make sure you have healthy options available so you don’t make wrong choices

♡ Drink plenty of water

♡ Exercise regularly

♡ Eat at least 2-3 hours before bed

♡ Allow yourself to have treats

♡ And lastly, spend good quality time with family, friends and nature

I would love to go back to the days when an apple was seen as a simple treat from nature not overlooked as too high in fructose or marked with a label stating how many calories it contains. If you just listen to your body & what it’s asking for or rejecting, you’ll be in the best shape for your body (( <<< love this girl! )).

Weekly workout schedule?

AG: I usually to do some form of cardio four-five times a week such as running, spin class, or hiking and then alternate with yoga, hot yoga, or pilates every other day. I like to have at least one or two days off from exercise per week to allow my body to rest & relax. When I’m by the beach I love going for long swims & I also like to surf when I get the chance!

Favorite go-to healthy food?

AG: Every morning I make a green smoothie. I love it because it is so satisfying & filling and allows me to add in a good dose of veges, fiber, protein, and nutrients first thing in the morning. My go-to ingredients are: frozen banana, kale, spinach, cucumber, chia seeds, cacao, goji berries, maca powder, raw, vita-green protein powder, & either coconut water, hemp or almond milk.

As my quick go-to healthy snacks I always have a mixture of raw, sprouted nuts & seeds on me. I also love to chop up fresh veges like carrots, celery, cucumber, & have them with hummus. Nori sheets topped with avocado or any healthy toppings also make a great, healthy snack!

Cocktail of choice?

AG: I’m not a big drinker, but when I do splurge on a drink it will usually be something fresh with cucumber & lemon or a glass of red wine. When I go out I’m usually really drinking soda water and lime with no alcohol, and most of the time no one can even tell the difference ( …great there goes my secret!! ).

Number one beauty product?

AG: YSL’s ‘Touche Eclat Highlighter’ goes with me everywhere it’s great to use as a concealer or to highlight areas of the face. I like to use it to touch up during the day too. I don’t like to wear foundation everyday so usually this will do the trick. Less is definitely more when it comes to beauty products!

Secret model tip?

AG: Never compare yourself to anybody else. Love yourself & make sure you immerse yourself in other interests, hobbies, & goals to ensure your whole world isn’t solely focused on the industry. It’s also important to remember that a lot of beauty shines out through your personality, so don’t take it all too seriously & be yourself, because no matter how much competition there is, there is only one you.

Natural beauty remedy?

AG: I always tone and refresh my skin with rosewater spray, my favorite is by Jurlique. It really hydrates & makes your skin glow instantly. I also use coconut oil all over as a moisturizer & leave-in hair conditioner.

When I wake up I…

AG: I’ve recently started to set aside at least half an hour each morning to sit & meditate to start my day, I’ve found my mind has been running three steps in front of me lately & this is a great way to remain present and slow things down at the beginning of your day. It can totally change your day from being one of frantic stress to a clear, focused, & joyful day.

And then I usually have a nice big mug of fresh lemon, ginger, and hot water to set your digestion on the right track for the day, followed by breakfast. And I always like to get my work out done first thing in the morning as it always puts me in a better mood for the day.

WTF’s in your purse?

AG: I’m that girl that has everything you might possibly need in compact amounts for those ‘just in case moments’ which come up everyday despite my friends laughing at me every time I say ‘yes’ to having something they wouldn’t expect. But someone has to save the day!

I’m always running around & never know where I will be one hour to the next so I don’t like to be stuck. I will always have a big bottle of water, healthy snacks, diary, hand sanitizer, charger, make-up wipes, pawpaw cream, concealer, book, & then we get into the my life saving purse…Bandaids, eye drops, tissues, vitamins, q-tips, floss, & the list goes on…haha, I’m the mum of the group!

What are you dying over, fashion-wise?

I’m absolutely in love with wearing my Stone Cold Fox Majismo pants. I always feel so good wearing these pants and they’re light and breezy and they go well with any of the SCF crops too. Also, I may or may not be the one modeling the clothes on the website but I am not being biased I swear!!!

For summer, I’m loving the perfect fedora hat by Rag & Bone!

And lastly, I always find the perfect bikini from Tigerlily, Australian based label. They always have the best prints & they also fit perfectly. At the moment their season is heading into winter but they’re always worth remembering for a good bikini!

Healthy recipe you’re loving?

AG: A friend & I whipped up this quick, fresh, healthy recipe for dinner recently and I’ve been loving it ever since. It is so satisfying and perfect for lunch or dinner. Plus who doesn’t love to think they’re eating pasta when it’s really a bowl of vegetables?!

Raw Zucchini and Salmon ‘Pasta’:

1 zucchini, sliced/peeled into strips

1/2 bunch fresh coriander

Pinch of salt

Pinch of black pepper

1/2 a lemon, juiced

1 1/2 tablespoon coconut oil

1/2 long red chilli

1 teaspoon ginger

1 garlic glove

100g smoked salmon

1 full lemon

* Note: you can add as many vegetables as you like, carrots, tomatoes, avocado, sprouts and capsicum go well too)

Directions: in a bowl combine the zucchini, coriander, salt, pepper, & lemon juice. In a separate bowl mix the oil, chili, ginger, & garlic and then mix it in with the zucchini. Tear apart the salmon and toss it through. Serve & drizzle with lemon. Delicious!

 1. What a gorgeous recipe. It’s a perfect match for your body! … PS I can’t believe you don’t have a more fabulous favourite drink. I think you should invest in dirty martinis. They are so proper and 1940s, and your pictures remind me of that. Love the interview. Congratulations on the spotlight at this delightful blog!
