The other day I walked into my husband’s bathroom & I just wasn’t loving the smell. Not that there was anything bad or gross in there, but it just needed to be smelling more like a spa. Am I right?
So in this post I want to share with you how I whipped that whole situation into shape & how easy it was. Now, it’s smelling like the Mandarin Oriental smell & is totally dialed in, no matter what goes on in there.
The Skinny Confidential’s Tips For Making Your Bathroom Smell Good:
♡ Make your whole house a vibe.
Let’s set up the foundation of the whole house first, & then let it carry over to the bathroom. You do this by making the best homemade potpourri. My stepmom taught me this & all you do is take a small pot, fill it with water, orange slices & cinnamon sticks & let it simmer.
It’s so easy, non-toxic & sets the best winter vibe throughout your whole house.
An addition to this is using fabric softener. It adds to the comfort and with the bad smells all gone, its a plus to make you feel good all the time!
If you have snacks or that certain food that has a strong smell that you don’t want to spread all over the house, use a mason jar! Using this helps conceal the smell into the container.
♡ Diffuser, diffuser, diffuser.
Can you ever have enough diffusers? Here, I’m talking about 2 different kinds.
The first is a ceramic one that you’ve heard me talk about before. It’s chic, matte, comes in different colors, & the mist comes out in the sexiest way and it makes the bathroom smell fresh. Michael’s bathroom has a black one & my bathroom has a white one ( yes, we have separate bathrooms & it’s the key to a happy marriage, I swear ).
Fill these diffusers with water, essential oils & voila. This’ll make your bathroom smelling great for ages, not to mention give you a whole spa like experience. My favorite oils are tangerine, grapefruit, lavendar, & eucalyptus.
The other diffuser that is ideal for a bathroom is a Nest diffuser (this is a reed diffuser). The grapefruit scent is great to set the mood while you’re pretending your bathroom is a spa while you dry brush, do facial massage, or have a eucalyptus shower.
Diffusers with baking soda are really effective in absorbing odors. Simply add a few drops of essential oil to give it a scent, and your bathroom will smell nice.
♡Poo~pouRri.
We can’t forget about the actual toilet. Poo~Pourri should be in every single bathroom in the world.
You basically just spritz it into the toilet bowl before-you-go. The spray is a pure blend of NATURAL ESSENTIAL OILS that creates a film on the surface of the water. An alternative is to use your favorite air fresheners!
The protective barrier traps the bad odors under the surface, before it ever begins! I MEAN!!! All you’ll smell is a refreshing bouquet of NATURAL ESSENTIAL OILS. YOU KNOW I LOVE PREVENTATIVE MEASURES! I MEAN IF THIS ISN’T ON BRAND I DON’T WHAT IT IS.
Another good way to really make sure the smell doesn’t get out is to weekly clean your toilet bowl with a toilet brush and check the toilet tanks. A substitute cleaner is cotton balls. Sometimes, a simple toilet paper roll isn’t enough to reach and clean certain parts of the bathroom.
♡BRanch Essentials cleaning products.
This is my favorite brand of cleaning products right now because they’re all natural & you need to make sure your bathroom is clean to make it smell good. Duh.
The brand is family-owned & all their products are non-toxic. The family’s entire health journey really interesting actually. They are living proof that switching to a clean, chemical-free lifestyle can do wonders for your health. Be sure to check out their products.
♡Candles.
Because always candles. HOWEVER !! Recently I found out that a lot of wicks from candles are full of nasty stuff, even if they say non-toxic. Here are some brands that I love & are non-toxic:
+ Taja
There’s no reason a bathroom should smell like shit. LOL.
Keep it smelling like fresh air and pink & glittery with some cotton-candy vibes, EVEN if you’re a guy.
