HAVE YOU HEARD THE LATEST?
Well, maca powder is all the rage.
For multiple reasons which we will get REAL into but the main theme of this post is SEX DRIVE. Becauseeeee my friends, maca is known to improve men’s sex drive. Meow.
I’ve heard this tip from many holistic doctors so instead of telling Michael to add it to his AM smoothie, I took it upon myself to just add it myself ( come on, you know me by now- this is no surprise ). So ya, this is probably the first time he is going to find out he drinks maca! Everyday! At-home! Without knowing!
What a wife.

Maca powder is this magical powder that should be in your cabinet. I’m coming from a space where I’m not trying to be Goop-y, I’m just letting you know that maca is something everyone should have.
That’s right, all you need is a few sprinkles & you ( and your boyfriend ) are good to go. Women can of course drink it too.
I prefer it in a smoothie but it’s also super good in an unsweetened almond milk latte with turmeric & cinnamon. Try it.
First things first, let’s talk taste. Taste seems to be a concern for me. Me personally? I would drink cow poo if the beauty benefits were worth it. I can’t lie. But for anyone who’s out there questioning the taste of maca, I can assure you- it’s good. The taste is kind of caramel-ish & nutty. Such a coincidence that it’s nutty…I mean, it’s very efficient for the sex drive. LIKE SPRINKLE SPRINKLE whenever your boyfriend isn’t looking, ya know?
Anyway, it’s bold in a good way & doesn’t taste super witch doctor-y. Overall, I think you’ll like it.
As always, let’s go over the benefits- shall we?
♡ It’s filled with adaptogenic qualities, known to support hormone balance ( this is important! ), help the body deal with stress and boost energy, endurance, and libido. BOING!
♡ Maca is a root vegetable grown in the Peruvian Andes. It was sacred to the Incas and has been used as a food and medicine in South America for centuries. It is well-known for its ability to help enhance strength & endurance.
♡ The one I like is grown at high elevations in areas untouched by pollution where it is sun-dried & low-temperature processed into a fine powder. Inferior maca products are grown at lower elevations and processed at higher temperatures, so make sure you choose wisely!
♡ Maca is considered an “adaptogen”, a name given to certain herbs, plants, and natural substances that help the body naturally adapt to stressors like a busy schedule, demanding job, or illness, for example.
♡ For men, maca has also been shown to improve sperm production, mobility, and volume, all important factors of increasing fertility.
♡ Another unique fact about maca root is that historically it has been considered a very potent aphrodisiac and a traditional fertility secret of populations living in the Andes.
♡ Consuming maca often makes people feel more “alive”, energetic, and leaves them with a sense of well-being, all of which are thought to be due to its ability to restore proper hormone balance and elevate “feel good” endorphins. Another benefit of maca is its relatively high amount of absorbable plant-based nutrients, including protein, fiber, calcium and magnesium, among others.
OOOHH! You should also know it contains some BADASS nutrition facts too:
Over 20 amino acids, including 8 essential amino acids
20 free-form fatty acids (such as lauric, linolenic, palmitic acid, oleic , and steric acid)
Vitamins B-1, B-2, C and E
Calcium
Magnesium
Potassium
Copper
Zinc
Manganese
Phosphorus
Selenium
Sulphur
Sodium
Iron
( Maca is also a rich source of phytonutrients! ).

Oh & we need to discuss specific brands. Not all maca powders are created equal. Make sure you reach for brands that are organic, raw, vegan, etc. This is the one I’ve been using– I actually brought some with me to France. That’s how committed I am. To be real I haven’t made a smoothie here- you know I’m too busy eating pasta & bread. BUT I have sprinkled some raw maca in my espresso. It’s DELISH.
You could mix it in nut milks ( shake it in a BlenderBottle- I LOVE my white one ), protein smoothies, shakes, coffee drinks, on oatmeal, whatever! Have fun with it.
Tomorrow I’ve decided it’s time to break-up with pasta. I’ve had WAY too much. Fish, veggies, fruit, back to healthy stuff. Maybe I’ll even sprinkle some maca on my morning oatmeal? UM yum. To Michael: you won’t ever know when you’re eating or drinking maca, I’ll leave that as a mystery for ya. Evil? Kind of.
With that, make sure you’re following along on Snap & IG Stories– we love bringing you guys along.
Talk soon, lauryn x

Ohhoo putting it in coffee is such a good idea. xx
Maca can actually have a negative affect on some types of medications, those with certain medical conditions, etc…. A lot of people don’t know this unless they ask their doctor directly or do research on their own.
Just so everyone is aware — as usual — this is something to always, always, always consult a professional on if you’re questioning it.
That is great to know Ellie. xx
Interesting blog post! Had no idea that Maca had so many befits. Almonds also boost sex drive!

Yasss! Maca is amazing! I used to take it in my early twenties to balance out hormones, and you know what? Those years were the easiest, most painless, lightest years of menstrual cycle I have ever had. I can’t remember what my libido was like at the time, though!
Thanks for the support Bry. xx
Never heard of this! Good to know it tastes good though. That’s always my concern when trying random things, haha <3
