Top Influencer Lindsi Lane Discusses Blogging, Mommyhood and Entrepreneurship

When I came across Lindsi Lane on Instagram, I immediately found her energy attractive. Not only is she beautiful, but she has the kind of energy you want to follow.

She’s just one of those people who really is influential without even trying. She’s funny, relatable, beautiful, has amazing style & is a total hustler. I knew I wanted to collaborate with her immediately.

THEN I stalked her collaboration with Hanky Panky. That’s right. Only the cutest underwear brand ever. You !! Guys !! Lindsi’s collection is full of the CUTEST stuff. You can get black sexy pieces, white beachy cover-ups & fun, pink, girly sets. This woman really does it all.

In this blog post I was able to pick her brain about how she stands out in the influencer space, how she handles being an entrepreneur & mom, & her skin care routine – she gets into it, let me tell ya. Like, the BEST skincare recs. I also had the opportunity to be on her blog so be sure to check it out here.

Without further adieu, let’s let Lindsi take it away from here. You guys are gonna love this post.

♡♡♡

♡ Introduce yourself to The Skinny Confidential community.

Lindsi Lane: Hi TSC community! I am Lindsi Lane of @lindsilanestyle. I am an NYC based fashion, beauty, & lifestyle influencer & I’m also a new mommy to baby boy Tallin.

My brand is all about being a “girl’s girl” who celebrates fashion, humor, female empowerment, & self love. I am trying to make a positive difference in my industry in the way that women view themselves & love themselves. I’m so excited to join you all here!

♡ You’re a mom, a blogger & a business owner. How do you balance it all?

LL: Oh, you mean with my iPhone in one hand & my baby in the other? Lol. I am not one to sugarcoat & I always keep it real so here it is-it is a really big freaking challenge…but the greatest challenge of your life!

It is all about how you choose to spend your time & creating a new schedule for yourself. I used to try to fit 10 things into my day; outfit changes, running to meetings like a mad woman, shooting in numerous parts of the city, business calls, etc. I look back like, “how in the hell did you do this Lindsi?” Even typing that gives me anxiety.

Now that I am a mom, it is all about Tallin. Every move I make revolves around him & being able to spend as much time with him as I can. I have made the choice not to spread myself too thin anymore & I am a much better person for it, both personally & professionally. I only schedule two meetings per day now ( the rest of the time is administrative work in office ) & I am super picky about the jobs I take on & who I devote my time to. I have two babies now that I care for! Tallin & my brand! So is it a balancing act? YES! But I only need a great pair of heels for that.

♡ What do you think your audience comes to you for? Give us specifics.

LL: I think they come to me for fashion, beauty, & motherhood, but stay for my personality 100%. I was a personal shopper & fashion stylist for 9 years before doing this, so it’s a given that I am a fashionista, but what really makes me different is my vibrant, sassy, positive, raw, real, genuine, sassy, fun sense of humor. They come to me for friendship, mentorship, & I’ve become a role model for a lot of these people, all different ages. To say I am humbled is an understatement & I truly feel I am making a difference in this space.

About the “real” part- maintaining the integrity of my brand & business is of the utmost importance to me. When I work with brands or post anything I love, it is 100% “So Lindsi” approved, which means it is fully tried, tested, used, loved, or worn by ME & I need to share it with YOU. My community knows they can trust me & trust is hard to gain through an iPhone, but I have done just that & I LOVE MY IG FAMILY!

In a nutshell, if you follow me, I become the best friend you’ve ever had. You don’t need to text me. You don’t need to call me. But I will tell you everything I own, where to buy it, & why you need it, & I am always here for you, just one tap away.

♡ What’s your morning routine?

LL: Oh, I love me a good routine! Recently, I am super into this new clean toothpaste called Twice. This company also gives back to charity, which is incredible.

Next, I do my full AM Skincare routine. I don’t wash my face in the morning with any soaps. I know, right? But hear me out. The first step in my skincare routine is to spray rosewater over my face & clean out my eyes. At the moment, I am using & loving Alteya Organics rose water. I spritz that onto my face & while doing this I say out-loud, “Today I am going to have a good day.” This really sets my intentions for the day & gives myself a second of clarity before my craziness starts! DEF TRY IT! I then use Juice Beauty’s firming serum ( it’s unreal ), their eye cream, & SPF. I love Paula’s Choice for SPF, Replenix ( like Lauryn! ) or EltaMD. You can find my entire AM skincare routine here.

I then eat a delicious Sakara Life breakfast. I have been doing Sakara for about 3 months now & I am obsessed. It really helped me drop the extra baby weight & I just feel “better”. You can use my code: XOLINDSI for 20% off if anyone is interested in trying it!

Once or twice a week, I will workout at AKT Fitness. It is a mix of dance cardio with intense strength training.

♡ What’s your night time routine?

LL: I either use Chanel or Biologique Recherche multi-phase remover to wash away my eye-makeup. Then I use One Love Organics Cleansing Enzyme oil ( sometimes I double cleanse with Alpyn Beauty Creamy Bubbling cleanser ). I use prescription Retinol cream ( a clean option for this is the Marie Veronique Lightening Serum. I used this pregnant & it REALLY works ). After that, I love my Juice Beauty face oil & a balm. I get so dry in the winter months & balms add that extra hydration my skin craves. Very into Leah Lani balm, Sonya Dakar Butterfly Balm, & Juice Beauty just made a new balm that is divine. I literally go to bed like a oily hot mess ( I feel so bad for my husband-lol ), but I wake up looking so revived & hydrated. #sorrybabe

You can find my entire P.M. skincare routine here.

 What’s your favorite healthy snack?

LL: I LOVE “Enjoy Life” lentil chips. I literally crave them in the night & they are addicting when you need a salt fix. NOSH AT YOUR OWN RISK-lol. My favorite flavors are sea salt, margarita pizza, & dill & sour cream. Mmmm!

♡ What’s your best kept beauty secret?

LL: My biggest secret EVER is that I love putting baby pink eyeliner in my water line. NOT WHITE, BABY PINK! I find that white can be too harsh against my dark brown eyes, but the light pink really makes them twinkle & gives just the right amount of “Hi, I’m awake & I look like a Queen” vibe that we all want. My go-to is the Marc Jacobs matte eyeliner in “Pink of Me”. You can also use lilac, mint green, or baby blues too, depending on your mood & eye color. I have used & love all.

♡ Tell us all the details about being a new mom. What am I in for?!

LL: Being a new mom, & probably just a mom in general, is the most beautiful chaos you will ever experience! A little backstory guys-I had a very rough & scary pregnancy journey with Tallin. I had placenta previa & severely bled twice, was on bedrest twice, & had an emergency c-section. Tallin was then in the NICU for 11 days after that with complications & I was NOT OKAY…it was really horrible & the scariest time of my life. My Tallin birth story is here if you are interested in reading it.

Because of my journey with him, I am just extra grateful to have him here & every second is a blessing. It is so true what they say though: when you have a child your maternal instincts just kick in & you just KNOW THINGS, LEARN THINGS & DO THINGS. There is no handbook to motherhood & no instruction manual, but there is also no love greater in the world than the love you have for your child. Everything in your world just shifts for this tiny little human that you are now responsible for forever, & although a scary job, the best job in the world. YOU GOT THIS!

♡ You recently did a collaboration with Hanky Panky. I’m obsessed & I can finally fit into the underwear. Tell us all the details.

Ohh, Hanky Panky! ( blush, blush, blush ) I am SO happy you’re obsessed! My love for the entire Hanky Panky team runs so deep & I am forever grateful to them for choosing & trusting me to launch their first-ever influencer collection. Lindsi Lane x Hanky Panky is a 43 piece collection inspired by who the “So Lindsi” girl is & we are now in 300+ US & global retailers.

In the 3 months since our launch date, this is the most successful collaboration Hanky Panky has ever done in over 40 years of being in business. I am just blown away by the support of my community. I am not a digital influencer with 1M followers or even 500K followers, but I am proof that it doesn’t matter what your following is. If you have a real, loyal & devoted community who trusts you & wants to support you, people will buy your products & you can convert it to some major sales. Working with a brand at this level has been such a dream come true & I hope there will be more collections soon. The sky is the limit…

♡ What’s your best piece of advice for millennials?

Try to be present & put down your phone. There is more to life than Instagram & you are NOT defined by a like or comment.

Network. Success doesn’t just happen. It takes a lot of hard work. Get out there, meet people, & start building your rolodex. You never know who will be able to help you down the line.

Open your ears. The information you can learn from those around you is invaluable & can take you far. Being a good listener & absorbing like a sponge has been a huge factor in my success.

Be a leader, not a follower. Pave your own way. Do not conform to what anyone else is doing & stay true to yourself. Be unique & stay in your own “lane”. I know I have.
