KEEP THE SUMMER GOING WITH THESE SPICY OUTFITS

summer transition pieces to fall | by the skinny confidential

Hi! We have been in Greece for the past week with Michael’s business partner & some friends embracing the last couple weeks of summer. I sure like to drag summer out as long as possible by wearing lots of light pieces & pastels. And with fall quickly approaching it’s time to transition my favorite items into fall appropriate looks by adding in some darker colors & warm accessories, you know?

Tie Front Tops

Tie front tops are ESSENTIAL pieces in my closet. You can make them tight in the beginning of the night to lift up the girls to show more skin. Then later, after some wine or bread, you can loosen them up for a more causal look. Let your meal set the tone! Try these tops with a high-waist skirt or pants- trust me.

Dresses

Living in Southern California, it’s easy to forget about wearing seasonally appropriate clothes. Obviously it’s pretty warm throughout the year. Instead of only wearing mini dresses, I like to add some variety into my closet by wearing different lengths & fabrics too. Love to play with textures.

MINI

BUT a mini dress is my go-to when I am going out to a brunch or a daytime event. This blue striped dress is one of my favorites. It sucks you in like Spanx which is incredibly flattering. You can pair it with a leather jacket as the weather drops. For something a little more laid back try this blue flowy dress. Wear it over your bikini when heading to the beach & wear it with over-the-knee boots and a scarf for heading to the coffee shop. Fun!

Ok – now let’s talk about this fringe dress. It’s SO different from everything else I own so it was really fun to wear. I love clothes that have movement!

MAXI

Maxi dresses are an essential for any trip. You will always find at least one in my bag no matter where we’re going. They can be worn for multiple occasions. This dress is perfect for walking around town & staying comfortable from day to night. You can also easily wear this for any fall weddings you may have coming up.

Sweater

Color-blocking is an ideal way to contour your body with no effort. With the correct placement of the colors, it really slims the bod. The colors in this sweater scream fall. Wear this to work with some trousers & change into a skirt for drinks.

Pants

Let’s talk pants!! I’m a HUGE fan of properly fitted pants to complete your look. These faux leather leggings are sexy, flattering and comfortable. Keep your look sleek and pair them with a black bra top & black pumps. Add in a blazer when it’s cold and you’ll be on fire. Now to go in the other direction – a pair of loose white pants is also essential. I literally wore these trousers non-stop while in St. Tropez. They are perfect for traveling & making any look a little bit more chic.

JumpsuitS

Jumpsuits are easy to throw on and & very much versatile. This white jumpsuit is ideal for dinner or drinks. I gravitate towards off-the-shoulder outfits- I just feel like the neck line is sexy AF.

Jackets

Jackets allow you to wear your favorite summer pieces just a little bit longer. They finish your look while bringing everything together. This year I’ve been loving a kimono. This lace kimono is THE perfect piece for wearing over your bathing suit. If you’re ready to transition into night, wear it over a black playsuit. My other favorite fall clothing? A leather jacket. Because DUH. I could go on and on about leather jackets. They are an investment piece that will literally always be a good idea.

There you have it! Think outside of the box this fall by keeping it classic with a twist to transition your favorite pieces into your next fall look.

What piece of clothing are you going to keep wearing well into fall? SHAREEEE!
