Here at The Skinny Confidential, we want all our readers to always feel their very best. So, that’s why we’re going to tell you how to get the smoothest legs, not just for summer…ALL. YEAR. ROUND.
Having buttery smooth legs can totally boost your confidence. When your legs are in tip top shape, you won’t even think twice about wearing your favorite shorts, skirts, and dresses and showing off those hot stems.
Sometimes it can be hard to get smooth, silky legs after each shave. Well, it’s because the leg areas don’t have as many oil glands as the rest of the body. This leaves the legs with basically zero natural moisture.
With minimal moisture, dead skin cells can easily build up on the legs, making it hard to get glowy & soft legs. In fact, that dead skin can sometimes leave you with razor bumps, razor burn, and ultimately, uneven skin tone. Thanks, but NO thanks. NOT good for the skin on your legs.
So, let’s get down to it. Here’s how to get the silkiest, smoothest legs ever.
How To Get Smooth & Sexy Legs
♡ Exfoliate your legs.
Exfoliation is the key to having smooth skin anywhere on the body, but especially the legs. Annoying red bumps on the back of thigh, cellulite, and ingrown hairs are all at least partially caused by dead skin build up on the legs and/or lack of good circulation. Hey, it happens!
So, if you’re not in a regular routine of exfoliating, we recommend starting TODAY. Try our DIY baking soda body scrub, or you can literally use your leftover coffee grounds. (FYI: caffeic acid has some seriously good anti-aging properties, so don’t knock the coffee grounds method.) Another favorite is the Gangster Chic Body Love scrub.
♡ Dry brush regularly.
If you guys know Lauryn, then you know she is addicted, like really addicted, to dry brushing. Dry brushing has so many benefits for your skin. It can remove dead skin, eliminate clogged pores, reduce cellulite, and promote better absorption of your body lotions/moisturizers. Plus, it just feels so fucking good & satisfying.
If there’s anyone who knows how to dry brush like a pro, it’s Lauryn. So, check out her post on dry brushing for her complete list of instructions and tips for getting the most out of your dry brushing experience.
♡ Shower in lukewarm/cold water.
We all know there’s nothing like a nice, warm, relaxing shower. BUT, warm water is super damaging to the skin. Think dry skin patches, red & blotchy skin, uneven skin tone, and so on. So, try to shower in lukewarm or cold water when you can. Showering with cold water is also really good for your hair, too.
♡ Use a hydrating body wash.
We’re here to tell you right now: your body wash could be preventing your legs from being the glowy eye-catchers we know they can be. A poor quality body wash can do more harm than good.
Not only can it disrupt your skin’s natural pH, but it can cause some serious skin issues and leave your skin feeling dull & dehydrated. Just no. No. No. And more no.
Instead, use a hydrating body wash that gives back to the skin. Lauryn loves Necessaire body wash, & so do tons of other beauty bloggers. If you have very sensitive skin or have eczema, Aderma is a good one (but always check with your own healthcare provider).
♡ Use a quality shaving cream.
For silky smooth legs, you need a GOOD shaving cream. Otherwise, when you shave your legs, you might be doing more harm than good.
We, of course, recommend TSC HOT SHAVE CREAM. It’s made especially for women’s skin & does more than just provide a good glide. It also preps the skin for shaving and helps reduce razor burn & bumps. Not to mention, it’s literally buttery and will leave your legs feeling softer than ever. As soon as you put it on your skin will feel protected & nourished.
And as for your face & your bikini line, you already know we recommend the TSC HOT SHAVE RAZOR. It makes hair removal an absolute breeze. If you’re into the razor & shave cream, be sure to purchase both in the SHAVETTE KIT.
♡ Apply lotion/moisturizer after you shower.
Because the legs don’t really produce that many natural oils, you need to rehydrate and moisturize the skin after every single shower. Every. Single. Shower.
♡ Apply body oil to your legs.
Just like you’d apply a facial oil (ICE QUEEN – duh), you absolutely need to apply body oil to your legs. Body oil will give your legs a boost of hydration to keep them looking all tan, dewy, and sexy all year long.
If you’re looking for an ultra hydrating body oil, choose one with hyaluronic acid.
♡ Stay hydrated.
Dehydration can draw in the skin and leave it looking dull and uneven. This principle applies to the whole body. And yes, even the legs.
Drinking plenty of water can help fight acne and improve skin’s overall tone, texture, and elasticity. And, of course, make your legs look and feel so much smoother.
If you and water aren’t absolute besties, check out this post on how to effortlessly drink more water.
♡ Wear SPF on your legs.
And last, but certainly not least, WEAR YOUR SUNSCREEN. Tons of people forget to put SPF on their legs, or they intentionally go sunscreen free to get a better tan. You should always be slathering SPF on your legs. Saggy knee skin at 50? No thank you.
Wearing SPF on your legs protects the skin from sun damage, reduces sunburn and peeling, and actually helps your legs maintain a more natural, tan color. All of which promotes soft and silky legs.
Smooth, sexy legs, here we come.
Ready for legs that look AND feel smooth? If you utilize these tips, you’ll have ultra soft and sexy legs in no time. No matter your skin type, how fast or slow your hair grows, or what skin care routine you already have, these tips are applicable for anyone in search of smooth, swoonworthy legs.
