+ Ew! HFCS?!:
HFCS stands for high-frucotse corn syrup. You might as well guzzle gasoline. This baby is stored in the fat cells & forces the liver to work overtime. Always go with organic. If you’re a spicy fanatic like me, look for quality hot sauces like All Spice Cafe & mix your own homemade salad dressings.
+ Calorie, Schmalorie:
Low-cal doesn’t equal healthy. Do not justify your meal just because of the calorie count. At first glance, I check the label for sugar & carb content. When foods are high in protein & calories, they provide you will more energy & a fullness feeling.
+ Peace-out, Soda:
Soda is a giant, epic FAIL. There’s absolutely no reason to consume soda. There are too many other delicious options. It’s bloating & disgusting. Slug a Kombucha, Ayala’s Herbal Water, or an organic energy shot [ ex. Celestial Seasonings K Shots ]. Oh, & before you grab that cup of coffee that you’ll diiiiiiieeee without on an empty stomach, eat a banana.
+ A Super Sized No-No:
The only thing that you should be drinking that is larger than your handbag, is a water bottle. A smoothie, even if it’s filled with fruit, should not be weighing down your arm with its heavy load. Portion control applies to bubbly, skinny lattes, and/or juices. Solution: order smalls/talls or buy portion-sized glasswear to keep yourself accountable!
[ Smart snaking: frozen grapes ]
[ Drink of choice: Trilogy Kombucha tea ]
Great Awesome ideas. Arugula for life!
Thanks! I agree!
could you give us rough guidelines as to what you look for in regards to the sugar and carb content on labels? 🙂 thanks!
I would recommend nothing over 6 grams per sugar per serving and no more than 14 carbs per serving! : )
I just discovered your blog thanks to your guest post on healthy bitch the other day. You’ve inspired me to add wheatgrass to my smoothies and juices. I didn’t realize there were so many awesome health benefits, thanks! 🙂
Yay! Cheers to wheatgrass! Thanks Beth.
That’s how I found your blog too! I love skinny bitch and save all their articles in my email. I use greens powder and spirulina for my morning smoothies, but would love to start growing my own wheatgrass and have shots of it throughout the day.
Hope you had wonderful weekend! X
Yum! I’ll have to try that- it sounds amazing! You too : )
