Sophie Elkus is such a cutie.
Sophie, Michael, & I had a ‘blogger blind date’ on Wednesday & she is absolutely adorbs. If you haven’t checked out her cute blog, add it to your to-do list ASAP- you’ll all love her! We got to know each other over veggie juice at a charming, little cafe & it was so fun to connect with someone that shares my passion for blogging.
Anyway, enjoy her fun interview & happy Friday lovas!
+ Tell us about yourself:
Sophie Elkus: I’m twenty-one years old, a Pisces, and was born & raised in Los Angeles. I’m a student at USC majoring in public relations and marketing, but my real passion is fashion, beauty, & fitness! I write a blog called Angel Food Style that reflects my colorful and feminine style aesthetic. My sense of dress is sophisticated and always put together, but it definitely has a west coast, California vibe to it. Aside from style, I’m totally into fitness, healthy food, & my two little dogs.
+ Quick skinny tips or tricks?
SE: I think fitness experts will agree with my opinion that there really is no ‘quick’ route to gettingskinny – I think it’s so silly when I see girls go on crash diets & juice cleanses and expect to see quick results. If you’re off to a tropical vacation, you’re better off with a spray tan & well-fitted swim suit! It’s so much more productive to make fitness & healthy eating a regular part of your lifestyle- not a quick-fix.
That being said, there are definitely quick tips to incorporate into your lifestyle to keep your energy level up while feeling great. I’m a big believer in breakfast. I can’t focus on anything without it. I love a breakfast smoothie with blueberries, banana, coconut water, chia seeds, omegas, acai, cinnamon, & vanilla protein powder. Another tip is replacing anything you drink with your meals, like sodas or juice, with water. It reduces your sugar intake while keeping you hydrated! I also try not to eat too late at night to keep my digestion & sleep separate.
+ Weekly workout schedule?
SE: I’m a little obsessed with SoulCycle spin classes at the fault of my friends who introduced me to it. I go twice a week, & on the other days I take a barre class that combines pilates, ballet, & weight training. I see the best results with this mix of cardio & strength training. I usually work out four to five times a week, but if I feel like taking a day off, I’m totally fine with it. Sometimes you need to rest!
+ Favorite go-to healthy food:
SE: If I’m out to a restaurant with friends, I don’t worry about ordering the healthiest thing on the menu. I want to enjoy myself, & LA restaurants make mean sweet potato fries! I’m also obsessed with weekend brunch.
However, at home, I’m careful to eat cleanly, which balances out the indulgences. If I’m making my own food, I eat a lot of green vegetables, tofu, chicken, salmon, brown rice, & eggs. I cook with canola oil instead of butter & use almond milk instead of dairy milk in my recipes.
+ Cocktail of choice:
SE: Not a cocktail girl, but prosecco is light & sweet!
+ Can’t live without beauty product:
SE: Lame as it is, I could never choose just one. It would be a tie between mascara & bronzer. Both make a huge difference in making me appear rested & ready for the day. Everyone looks better with wide awake eyes & a some color on their cheeks!
+ Natural beauty remedy?
SE: It’s cliche, but eight hours of sleep a night makes the hugest difference in the smoothness & brightness of my skin. I like to make a natural sugar scrub with brown sugar and olive or almond oil. You can also add Vitamin E to it.
Pure aloe vera is another calming natural remedy that works well on irritated skin. Lastly, bath salts are so great for achy muscles after a hard workout. I remember my mom putting me in the bathtub with Epsom salts after my long ballet rehearsals.
+ When I wake up I…
SE: Usually head straight to work out! If I haven’t done it by noon, it probably isn’t going to happen. I like to wake up early & get my day started! I listen to music while I get ready, it puts me in a good mood.
+ Tell, tell…what’s in your purse?
SE: My wallet, car keys, business cards, NARS lipgloss in ‘Sweet Revenge’, hair ties, & a gold bracelet in case I need to dress up an outfit. I used to carry a small notebook for ideas/memos, but nowadays I usually just write everything down in my iPhone.
+ Naughty indulgence?
SE: Dark chocolate with sea salt. Just writing this is making me want some! I probably eat it several times a week, but in small amounts. I tell myself it has antioxidants! I’m also a huge cupcake, brownie, & chocolate chip cookie girl. And pancakes… I should probably stop this list right here!
+ Quick, easy, healthy recipe?
SE: I love pasta, but it can be so heavy on your stomach to digest. I like to make a brown rice pasta but with half the portion as vegetables and the other half as pasta, which is just as filling and twice as healthy. I love a good marinara sauce.
For a quick snack, almond butter is nutritious & sweet. You can spread it on anything – toast, crackers, or just eat it out of the jar ( guilty!!! ).

She had me at sweet potato fries, bronzer, & mascara 🙂 Oh and USC.
So cute Lauryn! I love it! Can’t wait to see you soon! xoxoxo Soph
Loved this interview with Sophie – that smoothie she makes sounds amazing! And I love her style, too – if PR doesn’t work out for her, I think she could easily pursue a career as a model. Gorgeous girl! 🙂
She’s cute! One of my favorite interviews!
