Above & below are some pictures from her inspirational site. Read on to find out what a Skinny Bitch cocktail is…TGIF!
+ Tell us about yourself and your blog.
Fit For Livin: My name is Danica & I have a Danish workout and motivation blog, Fit For Livin, together with my boyfriend, who is a workout/healthy food addict just like me. We have been together for five years and he was actually the one who introduced me to the wonderful world of lifting weights & eating healthy on a budget. Since then my view on life & myself has changed drastically. Today I’m feeling much more confident about my body in general. Life really changed for us back in March when I found out we were expecting our first child [ a little boy ] in November. I still eat healthy though and work out three to four times a week, & by doing that I can control my weight so I am in shape throughout the pregnancy.
+ Quick skinny tips or tricks?
FFL: I actually don’t believe in losing weight quickly, however, the few times I have done it is when I have eaten a diet high in protein. I only eat things like eggs, meat, fish, vegetables, & protein shakes for a week and I can lose around three to four pounds. They stay off when I do this compared to other diets where you eat soup for a week & then afterwards gain it all again. Of course I work out too- mostly cardio when the pounds have to go.
+ What is your weekly workout schedule?
FFL: I do all kinds of workouts such as weight lifting, running, step fit, cross fit, thai bo boxing classes, spinning, yoga, etc. The more exercises I incorporate, the more fit and strong I become. My suggestion is that you vary your workout routine & keep pushing yourself in new disciplines. Since I’m pregnant I workout three to four times a week depending on how I feel. I do not push myself in the same way anymore & don’t do any ab exercises. But I can still run, step, spin, & lift weights and will keep exercises as long as I can.
+ Favorite go-to healthy food?
FFL: We primarily cook our own food since food to go is very expensive in Denmark compared to the States. However, when we do so, we always go for healthy sandwiches or sushi. It is actually very easy to get healthy fast food in Denmark, & Europe, in general. Sometimes we make our own healthy protein snacks and bring them to go.
+ Cocktail of choice?
FFL: No doubt about it: a Skinny Bitch. It’s very simple & made of good quality vodka, sparkling water, & lime. It is so fresh and you can keep on drinking them the whole night. More importantly it only contains a few calories, so you will not get a headache the following day since it contains no sugar. I can highly recommend it; in Denmark it’s so popular among people who wants to live healthy but drink want to occasionally drink alcohol.
+ Motivation to stay in shape?
FFL: In the past my motivation was to obtain a beautiful body that I could be proud of. It still is, however, I also do it for my health. By working out & eating healthy, it ends up really benefiting you when you’re older. You will feel happier in general & have more energy. I don’t see any reasons why not to stay in shape.
+ Any European tricks we don’t know in the States?
FFL: In the States you are always ahead of the rest of the world, or it seems that way, so we definitely learn a lot from you guys. Nevertheless, it’s my understanding that you don’t bicycle as much as we do. In Europe, and in particular in Scandinavia, almost every citizen owns a bike & uses it for work, school, workouts, etc. By doing so we get a lot of exercise without thinking about it as we use it as a means of transportation and at the same time we save money on public transportation. It’s a win-win situation. Moreover we eat a whole lot of rye bread. It has tons of fibers and keeps you full for a very long time.
+ Best beauty product?
FFL: Birch Cellulite Oil from Weleda. It actually helps and makes a big difference when you use it every single day. Even better it is made of natural ingredients!
+ Natural beauty remedy that you do?
FFL: I actually have several natural beauty remedies I do every day. I start my mornings by drinking a big cup of green tea. This is very great for your inner organs and your metabolism. Then I stretch out from head to toe so I’m ready for a new day. Later on before I head to bed, I rub my body [ especially the belly ] in different oils to avoid stretch marks & cellulite. I love these small rituals!
