SO UM I’m super excited because today’s post is alllll about my two favorite past times: giving back AND collaborating with some incredibly inspiring women.
SOUNDS GOOD, RIGHT?!
TSC community is one of the most supportive groups of women, so I really think you guys are going to like this fun concept.
Ok, let’s get right to it, shall we??
Allow me to introduce you to something called Dress For Success.
Dress for Success is “an international not-for-profit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.”
Basically Dress For Success is helping women feel empowered, supported, & INDEPENDENT in work and life. Here’s a little example of dressing for success:
Black Blazer | Pencil skirt | Tie-Front Blouse | Mira Heel Pumps | Leggings with Textured Panels | Crewneck Sweater | Vila Scalloped Collar Shirt | Camel Double-Breasted Blazer | Tuxedo Shirt
Anyway, this organization screams #GIRLBOSS in all the right ways.
Since 1997, Dress for Success has expanded to almost 150 cities in 20 countries & has helped more than 850,000 women work towards self-sufficiency.
SO MUCH YES!
Obviously we all know that dressing the part is half the battle. For me, a high pony tail, fresh manicure, & an organic spray tan does wonders for my confidence.
When I first started blogging I would work from home & not ‘get ready.’ This is a complete example of how I just really wasn’t dressing for success. I mean sure, my 3,000 year old Juicy Couture white velour pants were comfortable but let’s get real: they were sort of lazy.
About three years ago I made the conscious decision to dress in a power outfit. It’s nothing crazy. Usually some black tight skinny jeans with a long sleeve collared shirt & my favorite white Oxford shoes. Dressing like this regularly allows me to feel confident in my workspace.
Today I work from home & from an office but it doesn’t matter, I always put some effort into it.
This tip was recommended to me by a lot of MEGA girlbosses.
Show up, be ready, look the part, you know?
Anyway, I’m collaborating with ShopStyle x Dress For Success & here’s how: I’ll be contributing 10% of sales from The Skinny Confidential on Dec 8-9 to Dress for Success, anddddd GET THIS: ShopStyle will match 100% of the contribution!
So for example: today if you guys purchase a $30 shirt through TSC, I’ll donate $3 to DFS and ShopStyle will match that & also donate $3 to DFS. Win/win/win.
If you guys have more holiday shopping ( if you’re like me you like to leave things to the absolute last minute, LOL ), today is an amazing day to shop till you drop for a good cause.

Hi Brittany, I completely agree. The holidays are about giving back as much as they’re about giving to your family and friends. Let’s all do what we can to help women DRESS for SUCCESS!! xx

I keep getting that these websites are unavailable?
Hi! Which links aren’t working for you? They’re working for us on our end! x
What a great concept! Thanks for sharing xo C
That is so great to see your involvement with Dress for Success! I have volunteered with them before. A couple things I learned
– Some people think you can only donate stuff in pristine condition, worn once or twice. Even if you have had a couple years, as long as it’s in “good shape”, it is good to donate, does not need to be in mint condition.
– Many of the women are sizes 12 and up, so any clothing that is larger, or even something One-Size-Fits-Most like a roomy cardigan or wrap, is a great thing to donate.
– A couple times of year, some DFS sites are open to the public for sales of their inventory. This can be a great way if you are on a budget to pick out some work clothing! (especially if you are a small size, see above) and the sales proceeds go to a good cause
– In addition to clothes they accept accessories, shoes, and jewelry. Same as above, these do not have to be exquisite on-trend investment pieces … just clean and in decent shape. You would probably not wear brand-new shoes to an interview so slight visible wear-and-tear is fine.
– In addition to interview outfits they provide a “work week” of clothes to women once they are hired – so donations can include things like medical scrubs, or business casual.
Hi Jennifer, thank you SO much for sharing all of this information! SO good to know! You’re so sweet! When did you work with Dress For Success? Where are you from? Thank you <3
Love this post. I couldn`t agree more.
My roommates keep asking me: Are you about to go out? Or why else would you be wearing a dress?
But I just need to feel good about myself n order to work hard =)

Hi Adriana, I feel you! Dressing the part changes my whole mood. I can’t believe the difference I’ve noticed from getting up and dressing up. The purse was a gift from Michael, thank you!!
