DIGESTIVE Enzymes, PROBIOTICS, & VITAMIN ROUTINE W/ CELEBRITY YOGA SPECIALIST CLAIRE GRIEVE

supplements and vitamins for health and beauty daily regime | by the skinny confidential

I met Claire in Gstaad, Switzerland.

We were introduced by our mutual girlfriend, Neda, of Healthy With Nedi at a fun, crazy restaurant.

I liked her immediately- she is warm, strong, likable, smart, & knows her shit when it comes to fitness.

So when did I decide to invite her on The Skinny Confidential for a 3 part series on health & wellness? EASY. When she pulled out a tiny vitamin case with vegetarian digestive enzymes & offered me one after a meal of salad, pasta, steak, & cucumber/mint Nedi martinis ( as Neda always says: “the trick is to keep cocktails as simple as possible & avoid sugary mixers. I drink almost EVERY DAY unless I am sick. Alcohol does not cause weight gain, sugary mixers do. So, I keep it simple with a vodka on the rocks, 3 lime wedges, & a splash of water. My boyfriend calls this ‘The Nedi Drink’- LOL. If I am feeling like a cocktail then my go-to is a vodka martini with muddled cucumber, mint, & a tiny splash of fresh lime juice.” YUM ). Anyway, back to the digestive enzymes Claire gave me. Immediately I needed to know: 1.) tell me everything about how these enzymes work, 2.) what brand? ( this brand if you’re wondering ), & 3.) ok now can I pick your brain about supplements on the blog? ( she agreed ! ). We definitely had some funnnnnn that night! Digestive enzymes x cucumber/mint vodka martinis mix very well. And of course, I bought them immediately.

( Obviously check with your doctor before starting any new supplement program, especially if you are on medication as there may be contraindications. With any supplement, be mindful that everything affects each individual body differently. It is a good idea to add each supplement in one at a time to identify if you have any sensitivities ).

CLAIRE’S FAVORITE SUPPLEMENTS:

Digestive Enzymes– I suffer from small intestine bacteria overgrowth ( SIBO ), so digestive enzymes are an absolute must for me. These pills help break down proteins, fats and carbs so that your body can better absorb the nutrients from your food.

Vitamin B12– this vitamin is one of the most important in my supplement regimen because I eat mostly plant-based and B12 cannot be found in plants. Vitamin B12 helps to boost mood & prevent depression.

Probiotics– I live by probiotics. Gut health is paramount. The microbiome in your gut is directly correlated to the neurotransmitters in your brain. Happy belly= happy life. Yes please.

L-theanine– I call this supplement my little meditation in a pill. Despite its complicated-sounding name, L-theanine is naturally occurring in black and green tea. It can help reduce anxiety and stress and increase focus & relaxation.

Ashwagandha- I take ashwagandha at the end of a long day. This adaptogen is an incredible tool for relieving stress and anxiety. Ashwagandha lowers cortisol levels and mimics the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA, which can help you relax.

Glutathione– this is my go-to detox supplement. A super powerful antioxidant, Glutathione can help prevent aging and eliminate toxins from the liver.

Omega 3- I eat a flax-based Omega 3 capsule every day and it truly has helped my skin, hair and nails to look healthier.

TurmericTurmeric is nature’s Advil. It is a wonderful anti-inflammatory. I take Turmeric capsules daily to ease the inflammation caused by from daily life.

CoQ10– I take CoQ10 to keep fatigue at bay. CoQ10 helps with production of ATP, the major energy source needed for cell growth. It is also an antioxidant, helping to prevent the signs of aging.

Vitamin D– more and more research has been coming out pointing to the importance of Vitamin D. Though you can get your daily dose from the sun, most people aren’t getting enough so I take mine in supplement form.

Magnesium– Magnesium is a wonder supplement in my book. Vitamin D cannot be properly metabolized without sufficient levels of magnesium. Magnesium is also helpful for better sleep, & smoother bowel movements. Magnesium can also help to reduce cortisol levels, which relieves stress.
