STORY TELLING TIME:
I had a REAL problem when I was a bartender. I would wake up in the morning around 7am to teach Pure Barre & Pilates, then go to school full-time. I’d come home around 2pm, shoot pictures until 2:30, upload them all until 2:45, & write a post until 3:30. Then I would go bartend, but I’d post all the blog social media in the bathroom from 3:30 to 3:45 & work from 4-midnight.
At 12:30 I’d get home & return emails, edit the blog & just go over everything until 2am. This went on for 4 years. Rinse & repeat, rinse & repeat.
When I was able to quit bartending because I monetized The Skinny Confidential after 4 years, I had a really big problem sleeping. After keeping odd hours for so long, it was so natural & normal to work on TSC from 11pm-2am. It was my creative time so I’d get a ton of work done for the blog. Fast forward 6 years down the road & I realized this was a problem because I wasn’t getting quality sleep.
This is when CBD was all the rage & everyone was talking about how amazing it was. I decided to give it a try. It’s honestly CHANGED MY LIFE. When I’m home in LA, I get into bed at 9:30, have my CBD straight up, or in some tea, & sometimes in Four Sigmatic Hot Cacao ( if we’re being specific because we always are ). It helps me wind down without anxiety or stress. So now I read instead of watch TV before bed, turn on my salt rock lamp ( more here ), & I’m asleep by 10:30- which is crazy.
I thank the majority of that to CBD. Now, as you can imagine, I have been sent a lot of different CBDs & I’ve tried a lot of different kinds. Recommending the best to you guys is really important & I’m still on a journey with CBD. I’m learning as I go- it’s a new thing for me & something I’m not willing to give up because it’s been so life-changing for my sleep.
Now, I hop out of bed at 7am because I get 8-9 hours of sleep & I’m ready to conquer the day ( only when I’m home in LA – let’s be real, I cannot wake the fuck up when I’m in NYC or London because of the weather ). It just works. Michael is hooked, all my friends are hooked, my family is hooked, even my makeup artist is hooked. When I say hooked, I don’t actually mean ‘hooked’ because it’s not a drug. It’s all natural.
As you know, I’m absolutely in love with cinnamon. There’s something about it that I can’t quit. I put it in my coffee, in my smoothies & it’s just non-negotiable because it balances your blood sugar ( which is why it’s great with coffee because it causes spikes in your blood sugar ).
So when I was introduced to Curaleaf Hemp Tincture Drops & saw there was a ginger, clove, cinnamon flavor, I almost died. That flavor is like a dream to me, especially in a hot ginger tea while you wind down at night- there’s nothing better.
You can also have it plain because it tastes so good. That’s what I like about this one. You get a bit of bitterness with some sweetness too.
Ginger is great for indigestion & really helps with nausea, which I’m sure a lot of you know already. If you’re ever feeling nauseous, ginger is the way to go.
Curaleaf Hemp Tincture drops have no THC, is non-GMO ( of course ), & is freaking delicious. The ingredients are pure too- I made sure of that. It only has CBD oil, pure MCT oil, hemp seed oil, & essential oil. I like to do 1-2 drops at night to help me wind down.
If you’re not a cinnamon or ginger fan, they have different tincture flavors too. There’s lemon bergamot, jasmine wintergreen, lavender sweet orange, & vanilla ylang ylang. Or you can choose based on your mood. Do you want to be uplifted, relieved, revived or relaxed? – you can choose.
I just like the cinnamon ginger one. It helps with digestion & I think digestion & the gut is so underrated. To have that in my bedtime routine just makes me feel good.
Let’s get into the benefits of CBD…
♡ can reduce inflammation – YES YES YES !!! All about this since jaw surgery.
♡ can help reduce pain – This really helped when I got the screws taken out of my mouth.
♡ can help reduce anxiety & depression – CBD has made SUCH big difference in my anxiety.
♡ can help with acne – This is due to the anti-inflammatory properties.
♡ can help lower blood pressure – Some research suggests that CBD’s ability to help with anxiety lowers blood pressure as well.
I like to put a drop in my tea or straight in my mouth. Some other ways you can use it:
INHALATION: Inhalation–through vaporization–is the fastest-acting method of administration. Pharmacological effects occur within 5-20 minutes of inhalation.
Peak effect: 15-30 minutes. Duration: 2-3 hours
ORAL: Oral administration is one of the strongest delivery methods out there because CBD is metabolized by the liver, making it more bioaccessible.
Peak effect: 2-6 hours. Duration: 4-12 hours
TOPICAL: Topical forms are typically used as creams or lotions to treat localized pain and discomfort, delivering active ingredients to the bloodstream through the skin.
Peak effect: 1 hour. Duration: 3-4 hours
SUBLINGUAL: Sublingual forms are administered under the tongue and may be faster acting as the CBD is absorbed into the blood through the mucosal membrane in the mouth.
Peak effect: 15 minutes. Duration: 6-8 hours
While we’re at it, there are 2 other ways that I like to wind down so be sure to watch the video to find out what they are.
