Create & Cultivate Conference…COME!!! ♡

The Skinny Confidential talks Create & Cultivate.

The Skinny Confidential takes Chicago.

GUYSSSSSS.

I’m coming to Chicago!

Super excited/flattered that I was asked to speak at Create & Cultivate: Chicago, which is a conference for women entrepreneurs in the digital space, to connect.

I’ll let the Create & Cultivate team explain it further:

This is a 365 day conversation around entrepreneurship and being a woman in the modern digital world. We gather the next generation of curious creatives, entrepreneurs and girl bosses to spark conversation around the topics they are passionate about from influencer marketing and brand building to raising money.

At Create & Cultivate you are destined to meet other talented, like-minded creatives, all while learning tips and tricks from some of the best in the business. Attendees get access to a highly curated, impactful one-day program of workshops, mentor sessions, and panels, as well as delicious cocktails, food, pop-up shops, photo booths, gift bags, and more.

Our attendees come to feel inspired, enhance their business, drink killer cocktails and cultivate new friendships in an amazing and beautiful environment!  Create & Cultivate has taken place in Brooklyn, Montauk, Los Angeles, Palm Springs and Portland, and continues three times a year, nationwide.

Past speakers include:

Emily Weiss, Aimee Song, Chriselle Lim, Jen Gotch, Orlando Soria, Geri Hirsch, Peter Rojas, Amanda de Cadenet, Julianne Hough, Whitney Port, Soraya Darabi, Studio DIY and many more.”

SO. If you’re a brand new blogger or a brand, you have to check out Create & Cultivate. Especially if you’re in the Chicago area.

Dates: Friday, August 14th to Sunday, August 16th.

In all honestly ( & this is NO BULLSHIT ), when I was starting out 4 years ago, I would have figured out a way to go to this conference. It’s all blogging/branding questions answered in one space so it makes it so much easier for someone who’s new-ish to navigate the web space. This isn’t one of those conferences that you go to & realize three days later that you learned NOTHING. This is a conference with resources, amazing influencers, & answers to questions that are weird to ask ( AKA how do bloggers/vloggers make money ). Essentially with this conference, you’re investing in yourself. I’m very excited to be part of it.

If you’re interested, check out the schedule.

Some other influencers at the conference this year? Rachel Parcell ( Pink Peonies ), Amber Fillerup Clark ( Barefoot Blonde ), Gaby Dalkin ( What’s Gabi Cooking ), Whitney Port ( The Hills ), the founders of The Everyday Girl, Jenny Bernheim ( Margo & Me ), Erica Domesek ( P.S. I Made This… ), Emily Jackson ( The Ivory Lane ), Courtney Wartman ( Head of partnerships at ShopStyle ), Claire Thomas ( Kitchy Kitchen ), Joshua Zad ( owner of Alfred’s Coffee ), My Nguyen ( My Healthy Dish ), & MANY MORE!

FUN RIGHT!!!

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

We suggest comfortable shoes as you are going to be out for the day (or pack a pair of heels in your bag). Beyond that, dress as you would to attend a stylish conference! There will be plenty of photo ops!

WHERE DO I FLY INTO?

HOW MANY PEOPLE ATTEND?

We are making C+C even bigger and better. We are expecting around 350 attendees, but you will be a part of a “track” of smaller crews.

WHY ARE THEY DIFFERENT PRICES?

Each C+C price is dependent on the cost of the venue and location. We try to keep prices as low as possible wherever we can!

I’M INTERESTED IN SPONSORING!

If you’re in the Chicago area, I would love restaurant/sight/must-go recommendations. Leave them below!! Oh, & I’ll probably still be Nutty Professor-swollen, but what can I do, ya know? I’m icing my face religiously, pounding turmeric, & drinking green juice so let’s hope I look slightly more presentable in a month. Fingers crossed.

If you’re unable to come to the conference, definitely check out this book & this editorial planner. They’re awesome resources for bloggers.

Ok!! Hope to meet some of you there ; ). xx, lauryn

  5. Chicagoan advice: flying into Midway would be better because traffic from O’Hare is terrible most of the time unless its late evening or early morning.

    Fave Chicago restaurants:
    Au Cheval (burgers)
    Siena Tavern
    Bottlefork
    RPM
    Two

It’s summer and summer is beautiful so I’d find a rooftop bar and get a drink or two and take in the skyline. The architectural boat tour gives a pretty good tour of the city.

  6. DYING that you are coming to Chicago!!! Will have recommendations soon (: RPM is great, definitely make reservations A$AP Rocky, check out the Bean at Millenium Park, an architecture boat tour, Stan’s Donuts…I’ll have more

Sitting outback on the porch is awesome and has a cool Chicago sign for pictures. Great cocktails too! Have fun at the conference!

  13. Hi Lauryn, I have been following you for years and would love to come to Chicago for this event. I am a newbie to the blogging world; and would like to ask if it’s possible to have a mentor session with you while I am there? Or are you doing any meet and greets while in Chicago? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you so much !
    Jessica

  14. I would love to go to this! I have actually never been to Chicago and have always wanted to visit. I won’t be able to make it this year, but look forward to seeing updates!

  15. I absolutely flipped when I saw that you were coming here! And then I flipped even further when I read about Create & Cultivate. I’ve been looking for a good blogger conference to attend in Chicago. The date is also 3 weeks after my blog is launching! (It launches on Wednesday) I would love to meet you!

I second the recommendation for Lou Malnati’s. It’s a definite must. Also dining on the 95th Floor of the Hancock building is always incredible (that view though). Finally, there’s this tiny little cafe called Hendrickx on E Walton St. you must go to. Try their macaroons. Another reason to stop in, the owners son (who is only about 8 and the cutest) helps out in the bakery and has his own chef outfit. It’s ADORABLE.

  16. I am also a new blogger as in the last few weeks. I live in the suburbs but would recommend Untitled and Mercadito. Both are my favorite restaurants in the city.

The event sounds awesome but not sure I can make it. Since you mentioned pounding turmeric, thought I would share my post about the haldi shot!

  17. Lauryn,

Congrats on being a part of what sounds like an INCREDIBLE panel–so exciting! Bummed I won’t be able to attend {wedding in Boston–womp}. I have followed you for years, and am constantly inspired by your site{s}. Your original content and distinct voice is absolute perfection–thank you for all that you have brought to the blogging-world!

I too would love the opportunity to attend a little meet & greet if that’s something you decide to do.

Additionally, some recs for your trip:

+Pump Room at the Public Hotel {think old hollywood ratpack glam with a modern twist–it’s totally inconic} the salmon on crispy sushi rice is to.die.for. They also have an ah-MAZing GINGER margarita!

+NoMI Garden at the Park Hyatt is perfect for chill rooftop hangs.

+Taco Joint in Lincoln Park & Big Star in Wicker Park are the best for mexican {Wicker is a bit ‘out of the way’ but totally worth checking out–the neighborhood has a super relaxed vibe and great boutique-shopping.

Have a great trip & best wishes for a speedy recovery!

    -Dana, Xx.

  18. If you can get a reservation at Girl & the Goat you should go! It’s usually booked up for weeks, definitely the hot place right now.

    See you there!
