If you follow along on Snapchat ( un: laurynevarts ) you know we traveled to NYC & London in December. It was a lot fun but we also worked A LOT. There’s really nothing like the East Coast hustle to keep you inspired. Inspired…but freezing!
Which brings us to cold weather clothes. Living in San Diego with sunny weather 24/7 is amazing but sometimes you want to whip out the turtlenecks, ya know. So when it gets cold everyone bundles up like we’re dying of hypothermia. I’m talking scarves, beanies, fluffy coats even though it’s only 65 degrees.
That being said I really don’t have many clothes for cold weather. Traveling to NYC & London, I needed cold weather WORK clothes. Something warm I could rock in a meeting but also chic enough to hit up the NYC & London nightlife. Nothing boring of course.
These are the pieces that kept me toasty, comfy & ready for anything during my trip:
{ FIND THE BLACK BODYSUIT HERE }
A simple, clean long sleeve black bodysuit is a staple. It’s a great basic piece that you can easily layer with sweaters for the cold. Complete this look with a skirt, tights & a heavy coat for a modern school girl vibe. Very NYC.
{ FIND THE military coat HERE }
I don’t like to freeze my ass off unless it involves cryotherapy. A heavy & warm coat is a MUST for the cold. Once I saw the detailing on this military coat I was sold. It just screams London; I can’t get enough.
{ FIND THE SHIMMER BODYSUIT HERE }
This shimmer bodysuit is perfect for meeting over drinks. The lapels give it a professional feel like a blazer but the plunging V keeps it fresh & young. Plus the shimmer reflects the light in the most flattering way !
{ FIND THE high rise jeans HERE }
If you don’t own high waisted black skinny jeans then YOU NEED. They are one of the most versatile pieces of clothing you can own. They work for pretty much any occasion since you can easily dress them up or down.
{ FIND midi dress HERE }
I’m a BIG fan of midi dresses. There’s something about them that’s timeless & put together. This one has an edgy slit on the side to keep it a little spicy.
{ FIND ROSE MIST HERE }
Traveling is extremely dehydrating. I carry this rose mist in my bag everywhere I go. Spray it on after a long plane ride and your skin will thank you.
{ FIND THE Colourpop lip kit HERE }
You need a strong lip if you’re going to kill it in meetings. None of that wimpy non-pigmented color that wipes off after 5 seconds. That’s why I’m loving the moody tones in this Colourpop Lip Kit for winter. The colors are super pigmented & long lasting.
{ 8 FIND the TEXTURIZING SPRAY HERE }
I’ve talked about this texturizing spray before & it’s because I can’t get enough. It’s seriously a game-changer for your hair. It’s gives your hair that perfectly un-done look.
{ FIND THE nude skirt HERE }
A pencil skirt is another wardrobe staple. This one is made out of a knit fabric so it’s SUPER comfortable & flattering. This skirt looks great multiple ways. You can pair it with an oversized sweater, a bodysuit or a blouse. So many options!
{ FIND THE Sweater HERE }
I love a good off-the-shoulder night. It really doesn’t get much better than this sweater. Add some contrast by wearing this with leather leggings.
{ 11 FIND the flare pants HERE }
UM just look at these flares! Flares are great because they’re so easy & you have a lot more shoe options. So many shoe styles simply just WORK with flares.
{ FIND the satin duster HERE }
Feel like a Kardashian with this dark green duster. You can literally pair this with anything and you’ll look HOT. Think black midi dress & this duster OR black jeans, body suit & this duster. You really can’t go wrong.
{ FIND THE floral blouse HERE }
Living for this silk floral blouse. The print is amazing & it feels like a dream on. Rock this with a high-waisted nude skirt or black jeans & you’ll be set.
{ FIND THE wrap dress HERE }
How fun is this wrap dress?! Wrap dresses work for EVERY occasion. They’re flattering, comfortable and chic. I paired this dress with some over-the-knee boots to complete the look.
{ FIND the heeled booties HERE }
The right pair of shoes can make all of the difference. I rocked these heeled booties constantly while running around NYC & London. They’re super comfortable PLUS they’re lined with fur so feet stay warm while out in the cold.
Alright on that note subscribe to the newsletter BECAUSE we’ve got some exclusive content from Michael coming on Tuesday ; ). Love to change it up. Happy weekend.

I’m also a California girl and completely clueless on what to wear when traveling to cold places. Have nothing to wear for that. These are great ideas!

Oh I may have to recreate a few of these for when I go to NYC next month!!
They’re perfect pieces to dress up or down for your trip! xx
What great outfits! I thought I could just layer & get away with it when we were in London. I immediately regretted that! I wish I’d just invested in a great, heavy coat!

Thanks Kari! I know it was freezing there LOL. xx
I might have missed it but did you do a post on London recommendations from your recent trip? My husband and I are thinking of spending next Christmas there and I already am starting to do research. I love how you don’t do the typical touristy stuff, especially when it comes to restaurants (we are big foodies) and chic places for cocktails. Obviously, I know the big historical spots to hit but what are some of your MUSTS for food, tea, drinks, views… anything that just can’t be missed! Thanks in advance. LOVE your travel guides! Xoxo.
Not yet! But that is a great idea! I will make sure to do a post on that 🙂 xx
Love love love these looks! Especially the first one, I was so inspired by it on IG I wore it to my chanukah dinner a bit different but super close 🙂 Love these looks!
