DIY Holiday Hair and Makeup:
♡ HALF UP HAIR by Shawn
Hi! I’m Shawn and I style Lauryn’s hair when she’s in San Diego. We’ve know each other for….8 or 9 years now? She’s always down for fun styles and one of my favorites obviously!
Tools used:
+ Bioionic long barrel styler 1 inch curling iron
+ Wet Brush 4 in 1 edge styler
Products used:
To achieve this sleek hair up style I started out by straightening Lauryn’s roots. Since we are pulling half of her hair up and want it sleek, we wanna get them as smooth as possible.
Next step is to section off the section of hair that you are going to wear up. I typically like to follow where the end of yoru eyebrows are. Starting at the ear pulling up and following this helps lift the face.
The ponytail should be right at the crown of the head. Slightly back is ok too. Before I secured it with a clear elastic, I used the best thing ever. You’ve probably seen it go viral on TikTok. The BedHead hair stick by Tigi. It is a pomade type consistency that comes in a stick & helps you get those stubborn little hairs to lay flat. I also use a boar bristle teasing comb to brush and help lay the hair flat. I also found the WetBrush 4 in 1 edge styler that is used for detailed styling, to tame flyaways, and smooth edges on natural, relaxed and braided styles. It’s so great!
I also used hairspray to help with any flyaways. Once secured, I used my favorite curling iron I’ve ever used. The 1 inch long barrel styler by Bioionic. I also love that it doesn’t go above 400 degrees because there is no need for high heat like that.
We put a wave in the mid to ends of Lauryn’s hair, too. Then with a wide tooth comb, I lightly combed them out to break them up a little. Finished with a little texture spray and hairspray. So it’s sleek with a little body with the waves! Sexy yet fun.

♡ WEDDING GUEST GLAM by Ryan:
First I started with facial massage which Lauryn is obsessed with. I used the Vitamin C Rose oil from Biossance. Once the oil was absorbed, I applied Veil Hourglass Primer towards the center of the face outward, then I moved onto Brows.
Lauryn already has some pretty epic brows as it is; I used soft brown and taupe Anastasia Beverly Hills brow powder & only filled in the front and a bit towards the end to elongate/straighten and give her brows a bit more strength.
I then used Elf’s Camo concealer in fair warm with a flat brush to clean up under the brow to give a lifting effect.
Fun fact:
The Elf concealer I used is an almost exact dupe for Tarte shape tape, which is another product Lauryn has been digging as of late.
To be honest we kept her eyes pretty minimal. I used the smallest amount of a Charlotte Tilbury bronzer in 1 – a cooler toned bronzer to sculpt her eye, and popped a shimmer shade (Makeup by Mario Master Crystal Reflector in Quartz) in her inner corner to open up her eyes and add that little glow.

For lashes I used the lash I’ve been absolutely in love with lately, which are from the Ardell naked range in 421. They are full enough but still wispy and look like they could be her own. They’re extremely comfortable to wear because of their clear band. To finish the eyes and give them that lived in edge I used a bit of a balm on her lids to give a wet shine effect.
One of my favorite parts of glam is COMPLEXION… since we allowed the oil and primer to absorb into her skin, I then went in with Hollywood Flawless Filter in shade 3 by Charlotte Tilbury on the high points of her face. This product has some skincare benefits but also gives that ‘lit from within glow’ to the skin.
Then I went in with a much deeper shade of the Camo Concealer around the edges of her face (forehead, cheekbones, jawline, and down the neck) to sculpt and bronze the face. I then went in with two lighter concealer (creme brûlée and honey by Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer) and grabbed a pearl size amount of the Hourglass primer again to mix with concealer ~~ sounds strange but believe me this was our saving grace the day of the wedding. It completely made her face water resistant! More on that later…
I set her face with Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder again by Charlotte Tilbury in shades 1 & 2. Then I went in with powder bronzers also by Charlotte Tilbury (2) to bronze her face. I love how buttery and smooth her powders work.
To add a little more chisel to her already great cheek bones, I used a little bit of KKW contour powder in shade 3. KIM PLEASE COME BACK OUT WITH MAKEUP! Other options for that shade would be Hoola Light by Benefit, Kevin Aucoin sculpting powder in meduim which I also love.
When it came to Lauryn’s lip I used KKW in nude 1 liner again. It’s discontinued. Similar shades would be Stripdown by Mac or Iconic Nude by Charlotte Tilbury. I buffed the liner in with a brush and then used some Laneige sleep mask all over for hydration and shine.
For final touches we did Voluminous mascara, got2b brow gel, and setting spray.
We hope you guys loved this step by step on holiday hair and makeup. Any occasion really. Be sure to follow Shawn and Ryan on IG @styled.byshawn & @ryancrociante.
