Heidi used to be the Louise Hay Teacher and Coach Trainer in Canada who specialized in inner child healing, mirror work, body/mind connection, anger release, forgiveness and more. She is also a yoga teacher, a reiki teacher & does all sorts of energy work. Now is an empowerment coach & we’re ready to hear all about it.
She reached out to Lauryn via DM after seeing her post about the book You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay. If you have yet to hear about Louise Hay, her incredible book and method, then you’re in for a treat. Heidi is here to break it all down for us.

Heidi Martin: Hi I am Heidi Martin from Ancaster, Ontario, Canada. I have had my own business in the wellness and coaching industry for over 20 years now.
I am an Empowerment and Manifestation Coach & I help you to heal your inner child, awaken your intuition, manifest your desires, up level your life and get your power back. I’m a former Heal Your Life Teacher and Trainer, in the philosophy of Louise Hay for Canada. I also am a Yoga, Energy Medicine, Reiki, Meditation Teacher, Trauma-Sensitive Health Math Certified Practitioner/Heart Math Facilitator
I also love to teach the Chakras, I hold a beautiful 3 day healing retreat in Niagara-on-the-lake, Canada with my soul sister Bally, called The Complete Chakra Experience.
Before that I was a former flight attendant of 11 years and decided to take a package once I had my 3rd child. So I could be a stay at home mom and at the same time create a wellness company offering coaching, energy work, yoga and many different healing modalities.
I am first generation Canadian as my parents immigrated to Canada from Croatia in the 60’s & I grew up on Louise Hay’s work as a young girl, thanks to my mom who was always gifting copies of the book, You Can Heal Your Life to friends and family.
I started and was certified with Louise Hay’s Method back in 2011 and from then on I went on to be the Teacher and Coach Trainer for Canada.
Because of Covid and the numerous lock downs that happened in Ontario, I decided to take my business in a new direction. I truly believe that when one doors closes, a new door opens. One thing Louise has taught me is to shine your own unique light.
I am also very passionate about the Tarot and coaching through the cards. And I also love reading Turkish Coffee Cups/Croatian Coffee Cups which I learnt growing up from my mom who learnt it from her mom and so on in Croatia. Strong intuition runs on both sides of my family line.
♡ What is the Louise Hay Method & how has it changed your life?
HM: The Louise Hay Method is basically, STOP criticizing yourself, release the hurt, be kind to your mind, deep self love, affirmations, forgiveness, that your body and mind are connected, mirror work, be gentle kind and loving and take care of your body, and remember to have fun.
This method changed my life by allowing me to really face my hurts and forgive by not taking things so personally. Everyone is doing their best with the tools and awareness that they have been given. I can look at certain things now and say wow, this taught me so much and I can see why certain things had to happen. Louise also taught me the power of manifestation and really believing that the universe does have my back.
I was also born with a kidney disease that I didn’t even know I had until I was in my 40’s. This work has helped me to keep my kidneys healthy and strong.
♡ What does it look like to get certified with the Louise Hay Method?
HM: We put our students/participants/clients through a two day intensive. workshop. The two day workshop intensive is what made Louise Hay famous. It is beautifully crafted so that major transformation and release take place. This can be offered in a group setting or even 1 on 1 through private sessions.
The main thing about this work is learning to know your worth by spending the time on your healing. Going back through all the stages of your life and healing the hurt. So bringing it up and seeing how and when the patterns were created. We do this in a gentle way, each exercise leading to the next. We have an anger release segment which really is incredible. It involves going into the body and seeing where all these emotions and feeling are stored & helps create a new life story through visualization, affirmations and meditation.
♡ Tell us about how you got involved with this method.
HM: I went to a Louise Hay, I Can Do It conference in Toronto to hear many of my favourite authors speak and when I was in line to meet the author and healer Debra King and get my book signed, I saw this woman, about 11 people in front of me. I immediately felt a beautiful connection of energy to her and I felt I was suppose to meet her.
She ended up finishing with the author and leaving. I chose to wait in line, after I met and spoke with Debra King and had an awesome experience with her. I then went to the restroom which was completely empty except for of course this woman that I had seen in the line. Her name was Dimple and I introduced myself to her. We hit it off and we ended up meeting for lunch and she asked me if I would like to take the Louise Hay certification with her as she would be flying into California for it. I didn’t even know that there was a Louise Hay certification.
After I met Dimple I had a dream that Dimple and I were on a flight and so I immediately said yes as it was a complete knowing that I was supposed to go with her and take the training. Since that day we are still great friends.
♡ What are all the benefits? How does it work?
HM: The benefits are that you feel lighter, more aware and awake. You’ll have light bulb moments and experiences.
At first it can be extremely emotional and tiring because you are shedding the old. The inner child and anger release can bring up a lot of tears.
You become more gentle with yourself and you stop criticizing yourself. And when you do criticize yourself you catch it and create a different habit.
We assist you in opening the door to forgiveness. We help you forgive which does not mean condoning what happened but helping to release all the resentment that sits inside your body.
Forgiveness doesn’t always mean having the person come back in to your life but if they do, it helps you create strong boundaries.
Working with the shadow. We bring all the negative to the surface so that it is no longer stored in your body.
Tools to heal the relationship you have with yourself and others.
Learning how to release all different types of emotions that are stored in your body.
Letting go of guilt and shame.
Money consciousness. Knowing your worth and deserve-ability!
Mind and body connection. We teach you how to scan your body, acknowledge what emotion you are holding onto and then listening to what healing messages it has for you.
Inner child healing, this is huge and profound.
Mirror work and so much more.
♡ What difference have you noticed in people who do this?
HM: What I have noticed is that people really start to face what they have been repressing and get to the root of the problem. People finally realize that they are worth loving and stop putting up with so much people pleasing, being a martyr and develop stronger boundaries. They really learn to go back to that inner child to heal what needs to be healed and to move forward and give that inner child what she really craves and what is authentic to her to live a happier and more fulfilled life. We learn these patterns and so we have to create new blueprints.
The thing I noticed the most with people who do this work is they fully start believing in themselves and that good can happen to them. There is enough for everyone.
One of the main things is forgiveness, of other people and in forgiving themselves.
They also stop blaming everyone else and focus more on themselves and the part they had in it. Of course many times traumatic things happen that they have absolutely not created and so we are able to help them focus on having faith that better days are ahead.
The art of allowing – letting goodness and sweetness come back to them. Knowing that they are deserving just because they breathe. They learn SO many beautiful tools which helps them heal deep hurt, betrayal and heal their patterns of co-dependency.
They are able to say no easier without all the guilt and they say yes to what inspires them all while protecting their inner child. Once you fully embrace your inner child, when things happen in life you acknowledge the red flags easier and you say to yourself, do I want to go through this again. This is a pattern and I’m stopping it now.
For instance people get strong enough to leave toxic relationships and they also are able to come back to each other because they have created change within themselves.
♡ How can we implement it into our mornings & evenings?
HM: What I love to do to implement this work is as soon as I wake up, as I am lying in bed, I state what I am grateful for and then I say to myself different affirmations. Example of an affirmation is, today something very surprising and awesome is going to happen.
I then journal what I am feeling and what messages I received in dream time. Usually I know what still needs work by what and who I am dreaming about…we are all growing and evolving. I also get huge messages on what to do moving forward. Since I was little my dreams have always guided me.
I then choose to make time in the morning to do a little mirror work… so looking deep into your eyes and noticing what is coming up. First you might see that you look tired and you start criticizing your physical appearance BUT I catch myself and then go further into my eyes, the seat of the soul.
When you look past the physical you can then move past that into a deeper awareness of whether you’re sad or you’re angry and start releasing and acknowledging what comes up.
Awareness is key for healing.
I also like to sit in meditation and do a body-mind connection exercise which is scanning your body to see where your body is most uncomfortable and then talking to that part of your body and seeing what emotion you are holding there and what your higher self is telling you can do to help that part of your body. Then sending a beautiful healing energy into that part of your body and letting go of what is no longer serving you.
Sometimes it is in silence or with healing frequency music in the background.
I then choose to work out whether it’s weights, yoga, running or walking outside, I am also doing my mantras and affirmations. For example I will say as I am running, I am strong, healthy and fit.
In the evening, I go to kickboxing 4 times a week.
I like to have a bath many nights filled with sea salts or epsom salts and baking soda. This takes away all the energetic stuff that we have taken on throughout the day and that we are also carrying that we have taken on from other people. It’s especially important when working with clients because you hear so many different things and hold space for so many of them that you need to let it all come off of you. This is also a great time to call all of your power back to you.
I then drink a cup of hot natural calm magnesium while I journal and read a book. I find at this time that a lot of new downloads come in regarding creating workshops or social media posts. So I will write it all out. I also like to write down affirmations and key points on coloured cue/index cards I get from the dollar store.
As I drift off to sleep I am also setting the intention for some great dream messages and astral travel. I also make sure the vibe is right with my salt lamp, TSC x Canopy humidifier, candle, soft comfortable pajamas etc…
Of course some evenings I will watch something good on TV with my husband and or kids. It’s all about balance. My phone is automatically set to silent as of 7 PM but of course if my kids are trying to reach me it can bypass and can come right through.
♡ What’s an affirmation you really like & why?
HM: The affirmation I really like to say in yin yoga, is my heart is open and I am safe. I like to do this in the reclined butterfly pose.
I use blocks, bolsters and blankets and I hold this reclined butterfly pose for six minutes so that I’m truly surrendering and allowing everything to release out of my body and to allow beautiful manifestation to come in.
My palms and hands are open and I can feel this enormous energy of surrender coming from my heart chakra. It is very beautiful. This pose really opens up the chakras and allows all the anxiety and stress to leave my body. I love to add in my own personal singing bowls or have it play in the background.
When working on finances I say, I am a money magnet. I am attracting clients that I have a soul connection with that are kind and full of integrity. I feel the energy and visualize them walking through a door.
