Life can be difficult when it comes to balancing it all…so I’ve constructed my own ‘balance pyramid’:
1.} Family/friends/pets: because well, duh. My family & friends keep me inspired & sane. Without them the rest of the pyramid wouldn’t function properly. Pixy is the love of my life ( sorry, Michael ). So naturally they’re the foundation & biggest part of my pyramid.
2.} ‘Me time’: if I don’t have alone time, I F-ing freak the F out. When I’m alone I’m able to collect my thoughts. ‘Me time’ also means I can read. I loveeee to read— it’s therapeutic. Point: without alone time I’m a mega bitch 24/7.
3.} Romance <3: obviously my babe is in the friend category above but romance is super important too. There’s nothing better than taking quality time off & spending time with the person you love. Cracking open a bottle of red wine + lettuce wrap tacos has become a Sunday night ritual for us. Romance= a break from work/stress.
4.} Work: I can be a bit OCD/obsessive when it comes to work. But hey, I’m working on it. Even making this pyramid was a reminder to chill out on working every second. Any volunteer work/helping people ( or dogs ) would also fall under this category.
5.} Fitness/Taking Care of Myself: I try to break a sweat once a day ( sex counts, right? ). Sweating isn’t just about body image, it also helps me quell any anxiety. Eating as clean/healthy as possible is def in this category too. And hey, I definitely also love a good lipstick & a few spritz of perfume. Shocker! When I look good, I feel good.
6.} Miscellaneous: this is an open-ended piece of the puzzle. This piece represents: a clean house, meditating, learning, traveling, cooking, wine ( so sue me ), baking, reading, gardening, teaching, & just trying to keep up with Suzy F-ing Homemaker.
I’d love to know: what’s on your balance pyramid?

I love that you put in time for yourself. I am guilty of always forgetting to do that! and I bet if I was making that pyramid I would’ve forgotten ! lol
I love this idea! Mine would be about the same. The visual really helps!
Love this post, so smart and helpful in order to get the right balance – thanks for sharing xxxxx

I LOVE this pyramid idea, I’m such a visual person… Ours are similar, family and my daughter on the bottom. Probably fitness next (since that is my “me time”) and food/cooking or nourishing my family is also a big part of my pyramid. Yoga is up there too, I just wish it could be a bigger part!
Family and friends are definitely at the base of my pyramid as well. This is such a creative idea! I’ll have to remember to make my own one day. Healthy food and fitness are huge for me, and so is taking care of myself. Reading time is also a must. You’ve already stolen most of my pyramid levels! 🙂
By the way, I use exercise to calm my anxiety too. Spin classes are like therapy sessions for me!
I def have to include me time in my balance pyramid too. Its hard to handle all my other responsibilities when I feel less than 100%
I love this! It’s so important to remember what comes first, especially when it comes to family! My balance pyramid probably looks a lot like yours, with tons of time for family! I combine the misc with the me time though, I’d love to find the minutes in the day for both!
xx

Guilty! I don’t know what to do with my time. I suck at managing time really! I know a lot about it but I suck at it! 🙁 Need to make one of these!
Can you do a reading list?
HA HA! My pyramid looks not so much like yours. I have to say the BOTTOM is probably FITNESS & HEALTH (as I get up every morning, no excuses, to do that & my blog & brand is all about FOOD and NUTRITION). Then the second layer is probably WORK (constantly working!). The third layer is a combo of Family/Friends & Me Time. Then comes romance (yep, sad day for me… lol) and then Misc.
