Lately, it feels like I’ve been busier than normal and haven’t been able to give my immune system the attention it deserves.

To help this, I’ve been researching immunity-supporting tips like a crazy person. Here’s the list I’ve been working on that actually lives in my iPhone notes:

♡ Lymphatic massage, dry brushing, & movement:

I’m a HUGE fan of dry brushing– a technique that helps secrete trapped toxins from your skin. I love how it stimulates the lymph system and gets things moving. It’s odd how much energy dry brushing gives you.

It’s one of those things that you can’t understand until you’ve tried it. I HAVE to dry brush every single day. My body kind of craves it.

♡ Pre and probiotics:

Zicam Total Immune Crystals have pre & probiotics in one little pouch. They help promote a healthy gut – your body needs/wants healthy bacteria so this is very much a good thing! I mix these crystal packets in with my sparkling water for extra support.

It helps prevent burnout & immediately revives my immune system. These tiny pouches travel easily in my handbag and help to support a healthy gut on the go.

♡ All-natural cleaning products:

Switching to natural cleaning products has helped my allergies & in turn, strengthened my immune system. I decided I don’t want to breathe in all those chemicals. I now breathe easy. I’ve been cleaning the kitchen with apple cider vinegar instead of typical counter cleaner ( I’m obsessed ) & using lemons ( I mix with heavy duty salt to create a scrub ) to remove dirt and rust stains on my oven.

My chihuahuas had eye allergies forever but with the all-natural cleaning products, their allergies have basically disappeared.

♡ TSC Detox Drink:

I love my signature detox drink. The main ingredient is raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar and it’s super cleansing. Apple cider vinegar is also known to kill bacteria. Clearly I’m obsessed with the TSC Detox Drink— I feel like it’s a great player in keeping the immune system healthy.

Find the recipe here.

Sooo, those are my four tips for building the immune system. What’s your number one immunity tip?

TSC Healthy, Skinny Syrup…For Pancakes, Waffles, French Toast, You Name It

The Skinny Confidential talks favorite syrup recipe. The Skinny Confidential talks favorite syrup recipe.

I have this weird thing for syrup.

It’s just so good.

I remember when I was a “I’m too cool for school” Sophomore in high school. Like clockwork I’d wake up, pop a Buttermilk Eggo in the toaster, & heat up Knott’s Berry Farm Boysenberry syrup with a cube of butter.

Times have changed.

Now I actually look at the ingredients I’m putting in my mouth. Eggos are out, three ingredient pancakes are in. Knott’s Berry Farm GMO filled fake-ass syrup is out, TSC syrup is in.

I hope this recipe changes your waffle/pancake/French toast game, as much as it’s changed mine.

The Skinny Confidential talks favorite syrup recipe.

This recipe is very similar to TSC jam. If I’m being honest, I like my routine & I like clean foods so there’s no need to go f-ing crazy when I make up recipes. Keep it simple, stupid.

The difference is this has coconut nectar & lemon in it. You can also use maple syrup but PLEASEEEE check the bottle to make sure it’s 100% organic dark maple syrup.

Aunt Jemima’s just isn’t cuttin’ it, ya know.

The reason I do this is because regular syrup has a lot of CARB & SUGAR. This cuts it all, you know? Make it skinny style. The berries add a sweet taste & you get some nutrients. The chia seeds add bulk so you’re not eating syrup with a side of pancake. You’re enjoying a bit of syrup in a smart way.

Easy, right?

Raw coconut nectar is a fun twist though because it resembles syrup & tastes similar. There’s some benefits too. Like what? Firstly, it’s high in enzymes, amino acids, it’s not chemically treated, & the nectar is filled with potassium, magnesium, zinc & iron. Oddly, it’s especially rich in inositol which fights inflammation & depression. You can read all about coconut nectar here too.

Here’s a quick video tutorial:

♡♡♡ TSC Healthy, Skinny Syrup

Handful of berries of choice
1 tablespoon of chia seeds & flaxseed ( or my magic seeds )
1 tablespoon of raw coconut nectar or 100% maple syrup
1 squeeze of lemon

Directions: add berries to a plate, add seeds, add nectar or syrup, & lemon. Mash with a fork. I like to heat it up a bit & add some grass fed butter! YUM.

Last week I made my favorite French toast with this syrup & Michael nearly had a heart attack. He LOVED IT. Didn’t even notice it wasn’t real syrup.

Swear guys, this shit is like CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S NOT SYRUP! You won’t believe it.

By the way, share your TSC recipe on Instagram by tagging @theskinnyconfidential & I’ll feature them on The Bombshell Body Guide’s social media ; ).

Surgery update: hanging in there, will do a post next week when I have more energy. I had a horrible day yesterday but today was better. Clearly I need pancakes with this syrup tomorrow for a better day. Thank you for all the well wishes, you guys are so sweet that it overwhelms me. MWAH.

Talk soon, lauryn xx

Mini DeLites: Recovery ♡

What a week.

If you follow me on Snapchat you know I’ve been super MIA. Actually to be honest, my head has been in a completely different space for the past two months— just being real!

And well…that’s because I had MAJOR, major surgery last Tuesday. I will go into more detail when I’m feeling better, but right now I have limited energy.

When the body goes through surgery you have only a little bit of energy making it very difficult to run a business…so thank God for my amazing team. A couple of them sent me the prettiest flowers, see:

You guys know I’m not one of those planner-aheader, organized bloggers that plans posts in advance. I write my blog through real life. I find it more authentic that way. So on that note, I did not have like 20 posts planned before the procedure. Now, I’m just going with the flow to see how I feel each day.

Anyway, enough of that downer shit.

Let’s talk about recovery!!

This post applies if you’re sick or if you ever have to undergo surgery.

I wanted to share a quick recap of how I’m keeping my body nourished.

The Skinny Confidential talks smoothies and recovery drinks.

So! Where shall we start?

Let’s start in pictorial order, maybe?

Watermelon juice!!!

Obviously everyone around me has been juicing up a storm. Watermelon juice was my main request because it’s non acidic. I like to add a TON of lime too. Lime is acidic but turns alkaline in the body. So watermelon x lime is just fucking gold. I’ve been chugging it like a sorority sister chugs Jungle Juice at a frat mixer. Watermelon juice is just perfect in every way. Go for the juicy red flesh at the center of a watermelon because it’s the only nutrient-rich area, forget the white part. The white part sucks, kinda. Some other benefits: watermelon is great for blood flow, it’s anti-inflammatory ( perfect for surgery ), & has TONS of vitamins and minerals. Bottoms up!

Next up, Mr. raw coconut juice.

I like this baby for its electrolytes. Raw coconut water is filled with electrolytes which REALLY boost hydration. Hydration is key in sickness recovery. I always search for the pink coconut waters because supposedly they contain more antioxidants. This one is my favorite brand.

Heyyyy Kefir, you weirdo!

Since I’m on a lot of pills right now I need something to coat my stomach. This kefir smoothie makes all the difference. Kefir is a whole different blog post but basically it’s “a sour-tasting drink made from cow’s milk fermented with certain bacteria. Also, a great source of probiotic bacteria and yeast, and requires daily maintenance, if using milk kefir grains. It is generally more sour in flavor and of a pourable consistency. Milk kefir may also be used in many, many recipes.” When I take antibiotics I ALWAYS balance it out with a probiotic. This is why kefir is amaze; it balances the antibiotic out by promoting good bacteria. This smoothie is simple, nothing crazy because I definitely don’t want to shock my system. My friends, Mike & Jen make me this smoothie daily & I LOVE it:

♡♡♡ TSC Kefir Probiotic Smoothie

1 banana
1 cup kefir
1 scoop Sun Warrior planted base raw protein powder
1 splash almond milk
Handful of ice
Top with cinnamon ( << an anti-inflammatory )

Directions: blend. Garnish with cinnamon & cheers!

The Skinny Confidential talks smoothies and recovery drinks.

Now let’s talk about liquid gold!

A full blown Vitamin C juice!! My favorite…orange/carrot/ginger/turmeric. SO healing for the system when you’re in recovery ( or on any day ). The orange relieves constipation, is full of potassium, & again, turns alkaline in the system ( so it’s essentially NON acidic ). The crunchy powerfood carrot does wonders: they’re full of fiber & literally flush nasty-ass toxins from the body. SO cleansing. Ginger, one of my favorites, is a real life saver because it takes away nausea. And typically surgery brings on nausea, yuck. Ginger also reduces gas, has a warming effect, & stimulates circulation. Lastly turmeric root!!! My home girl. Turmeric ( like real turmeric. Ever seen it at the grocery store? It looks like a sick bug. You can actually buy it online too ) is the shit in juices. Turmeric root is INSANE for inflammation. I’ve been like shooting it in shot glasses #rebel.

Lastly: TEA.

This one isn’t really too healthy but it’s keeping me refreshed. I get a large Starbucks iced green tea with two splashes of passion fruit & no sweetener. Obviously this isn’t like organic, homegrown, gold star tea BUT it’s cold on my throat & feels good plus it forces me to drink more water. And well, I just like it. Also, I’ve definitely been sneaking some mint chocolate chip ice cream because ‘help me, I’m sick.’ If you’re so healthy, lucky you, drink organic Numi green tea & skip the iced Starbucks.

Oh, & another one not pictured:

I HAVE BEEN CHUGGING BONE BROTH IN DISGUSTING AMOUNTS. I’ve been told it’s the best thing you can put in your system BEFORE & AFTER surgery. I add lemon & seriously GULP, GULP, GULP. A post on the broth can be found here.

Currently I’m in bed watching The Godfather with Michael & my two chihuahua nurses babies. I am fine. I am healing. I just need rest, nutrients, arnica, & time. Bear with me, guys.

Life is not perfect & there are bumps. And as a blogger, I’m taking you guys along for the bumpy, sometimes fun ride. It’s sort of my job right? To share the ride? Let’s just say it’s not always macaroons, champagne, & #OOTD’s.

And I promiseeeeee I will post more of an explanation this week when I have some energy.

Do you guys have any post-surgery tips? Any experiences to share?

Hope you all had a MUCH BETTER week than I did. Sending good vibes, lauryn x

Well hello.

How ya guys doing?

All’s well over here…just unpacking after a full work day & a Pilates/spin class ( << don’t you love it when studios mix it up like that? Keeps it fun/fresh! ).

Soooo, this past week has been FULL.

On Thursday, the day before we were leaving to LA, Boone, our boisterous chihuahua decided that he would use his long, black claw to carefully move a bar of white chocolate from the pantry’s bottom shelf.

And while Michael & I were out of the house, he mischievously ate the ENTIRE KING SIZE CHOCOLATE BAR, plus the wrapper…as innocent, angel Pixy watched.

Needless to say, I came home to an effing SHIT SHOW.

Let’s just say he threw up. A lot.

Boone was fine ( apparently white chocolate isn’t nearly as bad as dark/regular according to his vet )— THANK GOD.

I spent my day on my hands & knees cleaning, scrubbing, washing, etc. I even begged a carpet cleaner/tile cleaner to come out to our house at 8 pm at night.

Poor T.Boone Pickens.

I felt so bad for the little guy. He’s so much better now but GEESH.

Ok so, we drove up to LA this weekend to work & to finish moving our stuff in to our new casa. Can’t wait to share when it’s done!

{ LA recap }

Also, Sunday we went to a vegan restaurant called Gracias Madre ( if you follow TSC on Insta, you know this )— it’s such a MUST-TRY if you’re in LA. Think: delicious guacamole, amazing plant-based tacos, & boozy snow cones.

Since the food/decor is so to-die for, basically every girl in the restaurant is actively Instagramming/filtering/etc.

Surprise, surprise.

How was your weekend?

& lately, for some reason…I’VE BEEN A REAL TEA DRINKER.

My champagne consumption has decreased lately ( needed a little break! ) so I’ve been loading up on the TEA ( basically the holidays have ended & alcohol hasn’t really been around too much ).

Anyway, I’m very, VERY specific about which teas I drink. So when I discovered Celestial Seasonings Strawberry Champagne tea, I nearly fainted.

Well the reasons are endless: Valentine’s Day is next week…so UH DUH, the perfect tea for V-Day, right?! And it’s champagne (!!!) tea without the guilt. LOVE.

Lauryn Evarts of The Skinny Confidential talks tea.

Oh, & it’s delicious iced OR hot. YUMMM.

Seriously though, this Strawberry Champagne black tea is kinda like a full dessert without the cals.

But let’s get real here: you can’t give me Strawberry Champagne tea & expect me to never actually add the champagne. Since I needed to ‘test’ recipes for Valentine’s Day, I made this quick, easy sweet tea recipe.

♡ The Skinny Confidential’s Pink Sweet Tea ♡

1 strawberry/champagne tea bag
1 cup champagne
1/2 cup strawberries, muddled
Lemon, squeezed

Directions: grab a glass & add ice and champagne. Add 1-2 tea bags to champagne. Let sit for five minutes. Muddle strawberries with lemon juice. Add to champagne ‘tea’. Remove tea bag. Garnish with lemon. Cheers!

Lauryn Evarts of The Skinny Confidential talks tea.

By the way, if you’re looking for a Valentine’s tea, these teas also come in Red Velvet Rooibos ( YUMMM!! ) & Chocolate Carmel Herbal Tea ( << way to a man’s heart right here ) so add a little Bailey’s to either & thank me later. Plus, they come in super cute, festive containers that are adorable to use all year round ( or for birthdays/holidays/parties, not just V-Day ).

You can find these teas at your local Target ( I LOVVVVE Target, like really it’s the best store EVER ) but hurry – because they’re only available for a limited time!

What’s your favorite, flirty way to spice up V-Day?! Tell, tell.

Cheers! – Lauryn, xx
