Wheatgrass Benefits

Appetite Suppressant information from Lauryn Evarts, fitness and weight loss blogger

Every now & then it’s fun to mix up life’s daily routine, but normally I enjoy the structure. One small, essential part of that routine is a shot [ or two ] of wheatgrass at Juicer’s in Solana Beach. The benefits compensate for the odd/gross taste of juice. Beauty is pain!

P.S. Many places will provide an orange slice to counteract the after taste. Don’t eat the orange! It ruins many of the advantages of the wheatgrass. Also, drink it on an empty stomach.

[ Wheatgrass Juice ]

+ Antibiotic: rids unfriendly bacteria.

+ Appetite Suppressant: naturally shuts off the appestat in the brain.

+ Body Cleanser: reduces toxins stored away in cells or fatty tissues in the bloodstream.

+ Body Builder: it’s high in enzymes and chlorophyll.

+ Deodorizer: reduces or eliminates offensive body and breath odors.

+ Diuretic: reduces bloat by frequent urination.

+ Energizer: builds energy levels because it’s assimilated in twenty minutes.

+ Sinuses: clears up congestion and give immediate relief. Also works for colds.

See? Now go have few shots of something other than alcohol!

Juice Cleanse Results

Lauryn Evarts, fitness and weight loss blogger with skinny tips and tricks

[ Post-cleanse ]

There’s certainly excitement when a detox/cleanse ends. Although I anticipated aftermath cravings of bread, cheese & chips, there were virtually none at all. This AM I had a banana & drank a glass of half orange, half grapefruit juice. Truthfully I was not terribly hungry. This is probably because my stomach shrank over the three day cleanse & my normal food cravings subsided on day two. Mid-afternoon I ended up eating egg whites, low-sodium, organic turkey bacon and a medium-sized veggie juice. Besides looking forward to my bottle glass of wine, surprisingly I do not have a strong desire to eat junk food.

An update on my friends: some of them are not finished with the cleanse, however Pilar ended up losing seven pounds [ I lost five ]. Ian only lost three pounds because he cheated [ ha, kidding! ]. They both said they would highly recommend it.

Juice Detox: Day 3

Lauryn Evarts, fitness blogger on easy, yummy juice detox

[ Day 3- Fresh 9 Super Colon Detox ]

Wa-hoo! I made it to day three. Last night I was feeling slightly grumpy but after a protein-packed meal the unpleasant feeling disappeared. For dinner I gobbled down an egg white omelette with a few pieces of turkey, cauliflower, garlic & zucchini. Tonight’s meal will be lentil soup with chicken & broccoli.

For those of you who asked about working out during the cleanse, I have been active throughout the entire duration [ this AM: one hour of Pure Barre ]. Not going to lie though, over the past few days I have come to genuinely appreciate my red wine, daily bananas & cinnamon sprinkled coffee.

Some my friends participated in the cleanse & I asked for their assessments. They rated: tastiness [ 1 delicious - 10 disgusting ] & difficulty [ 1 easy - 10 difficult ].

+ Alana: 3 & 3

+ Ashley: 7 & 7

+ Ian: 3 & 4

+ Lauryn: 2 & 4

+ Pilar: 3 & 3

+ Shaina: 2 & 3

We were all in agreement that day two the most delicious & the day three tasted the worst.

Juice Detox: Day 1

Juice Cleanse in Solana Beach with all fresh veggies and fruits by blogger Lauryn Evarts

[ Day 1- Fresh 7 Liver & Kidney Detox ]

Back in September I wrote about the juice cleanse I completed through Juicer’s in Solana Beach. With all the bustling excitement in regards to the New Year I feel it’s entirely appropriate to go through the process again. I rallied some friends [ Ian, Pilar & Alana ] to participate too.

The cleanse entails three days [ today is Liver & Kidney juice: apples, beets, carrots, celery, cucumber, lemon & tomatoes ] of hourly juice consumption. Massive amounts of water and tea are encouraged too. A big plus? One meal a night is allowed [ 6 ounces of lean protein & veggies ]. Tonight’s meal will be chopped veggie salad with grilled chicken.

Food Diary

Weight loss and fitness blogger from San Diego

Perhaps it’s just me, but I have discovered that reading from an actual list of healthy snacks & meals is a simple way to incorporate them into my diet. When reading labels I primary only check the sugar content- if it’s more than six grams per serving, I’ll pass or only have a few bites [ I never count calories ]. Refined white sugar is a big factor in weight gain & has no nutritional value. Here’s a peak [ P.S. I change up what I eat all the time! ].

Last Friday’s food intake:

8:30 am- A small glass of Simply Orange Juice [ half OJ, half sparkling water ], a serving of Ezekiel 100% flour-less, sprouted grain cereal with a serving of Rice Dream milk & a handful of blueberries.

9:30 am- Beach workout with the girls [ I drank a 33 ounce water bottle ].

10:30 am- 1 medium sized banana & a medium coffee with a splash of soy milk [ I like to add pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon and/or nutmeg as sweetener ].

12:00 pm- Taught a Pure Barre class and drank a Juicer’s veggie juice [ kale, bell peppers, ginger, lemon, apples, beets, tomatoes & spinach ].

1:30 pm- A huge handful of pistachios & another 33 ounce water bottle [ I prefer Evian or Smart Water ].

2:15 pm- A protein burger sans the bun with Dijon mustard & a small mixed greens salad.

4:30 pm- Brown rice chips [ about 15- I love Lundberg Family Farms Sea Salt brand ] with hummus & a couple squeezes of lemon.

6:00 pm- Another 33 ounce water bottle.

6:30 pm- One glass of cabernet [ it was a Friday! ]

7:30 pm- An omelette with 3 egg whites, spinach & reduced fat cheese  [ I'm weird...I always eat breakfast for dinner ] & a side spaghetti squash [ I eat this almost every night- so many benefits to squash ].

9:00 pm- A glass of water, a half glass of cab & a big bowl of raspberries with Truvia.

11:30 pm- Sleep [ my biggest beauty secret ]!
