Have you ever done a water fast? If so would you recommend it?

No and no! A water fast has no nutrients or electrolytes. Read more here. Personally, I think I would faint x 10 if I did a water fast.

I would recommend a juice cleanse ( info found here). Also, Suja Juice does an amazing 3-day cleanse that is seriously life-changing. Good luck babe!

Do you wear extensions? If so, what kind??

I don’t wear extensions but I’m for it! I think if you buy the right ones ( I like these clip in ones )- they’re great. Weslie ( TSConf’s beauty expert ) uses clip in extensions & loves them!

As far as the more permanent ones: I’m not the biggest fan because I feel like they make your real hair fall out. Plus no guy wants to run his fingers through a glue-y hair extension.

But. Do what works for you! If you look good, you feel good. More hair info will be found in the book.

+ First question:

I do color my hair. I normally get a few highlights with toner. I probably get my hair colored every six to seven weeks.

Keep in mind: it’s tough to find an amazing hair colorist. My hair babe makes sure I use great product & doesn’t add too much color. Also, the longer you wait between treatments, the better.

Less is more! I used to over bleach my hair circa 2001 & it looked like dog shit. Now I like a more natural, hippie look.

+ Second question:

Food: avocado ( love this recipe ) or LEMON. LEMON EVERYTHING! I’m a lemon monster.

Exercise: traditional Pilates.

Way to relax: a book, red wine, Pixy, candles, & my fluffy bed.

Vacation spot: Cabo. Hands down. Also, Venice, Italy was pretty spectacular.

Could you share your experience with fillers (if you have used them). How long the results last, how much product used, and how often? Your lips are so perfect! Thank you so much!

Nothing’s perfect ( besides Pixy )! I don’t have lip fillers & I’ve never filled my lips. I don’t know much about how long lip fillers last ( or the best brand to use ). As far as plastic surgery ( or filler ) goes I’m a big believer in do what well works for you. If you’ve done the research on the procedure & want to do it- do it.

Other people’s opinion of you is none of YOUR business. So. Who cares what anyone says?

My overall view on plastic surgery: to each its own. Do what works for YOU.

Something I know absolutely nothing about? Eyelash extensions. Naturally I went to Weslie ( check out her cute bloggie here ) for all the deets. When it comes to any type of extension, I’m totally lost. Hair extensions, eyelash extensions, extension cords…HA!

Andddd here’s Weslie’s take on whole eyelash craze:

Want to look like an über babe version of yourself in like 2 hours flat?

Then try eyelash extensions.

Truthfully, nothing else makes me feel instantly prettier.

Not only do they make it look like I’m awake and refreshed 24/7, but they shave a full ten minutes off my morning beauty routine, too. Whenever I have lashes on I forget to wear foundation… & eye makeup doesn’t even cross my mind. It’s awesome!

How do they work?

Professional grade eyelash extensions are placed one by one on every natural eyelash you have.

You are most likely laying down while a licensed technician applies each lash with a strong, black colored bonding agent (its a surgical grade liquid glue), that secures the extension onto your natural lash.

This gives your lashes a glossy black glow, while plumping them up, and extending their length.

Sounds good, right? It is.

There is no need for mascara while you have extensions on. In fact, I’m claiming that the best mascara in the world can’t even touch the effects lash extensions have on some one’s eyes.

Simply put:

Best. Beauty. Invention. Ever.

Yup, they’re that good.

But, with every great thing in life, comes a not-so-great thing about it, too… And there are a few not-so-great parts of lashextensions.

So, before you call your nearest spa, think about these few things:

1.} Do you have enough time and money to devote to lashes?

Lash extensions need maintaining..like A LOT of maintenance. I’d say they only way they look good all of the time is if you get them filled every two & a half weeks.

Your lashes grow and fall out just like all the rest of the hair on your body, so it should be no surprise when your extensions start falling out. Not all at once, of course, but a few here and there-and before you know it, you have gaps in your lashes and loose extensions.

Not cute, nor comfortable.

A fill takes anywhere from forty-five minutes to two hours, at around $80 – $150 per time you go in for a fill.

Can you commit?

2.} Another note to consider is that you cannot rub your eyes as usual with extensions on.

You have to be very delicate with your new set of lashes. Being hard on them will damage your natural lash.

So, if you’re a chronic eye rubber, or have a case of allergies, maybe lash extensions aren’t for you.

3.} If you’re one of those who like to pick, prod, and poke around your face…the thrill of pulling off each individual synthetic lash might be too overwhelming during a late night movie…and before you know it-your lash line is as bald as a babies bottom. TRUTH.

I speak from experience, & the memory is making me cringe. I lost all will power one summery night- “theneed to pull each little faux lash off” was overpowering. Any rational thinking I had left in my brain…I couldn’t help myself!

One by one, I plucked them off, and only when I looked down and saw what looked like a million tiny spider legs all over my bed comforter did I realize the magnitude of the situation…I had no eyelashes. EEK!

So, learn from my mistakes…Do not pick your lashes. If you’re ready for them to be off, go to your technician who will remove them with a gel remover.

4.} My last, and final, piece of advice to you is to shop around for a great lash technician.

Really dive in & do your research, because there are pros–& then, there are why-are-you-even-doing-this-as-your-profession “pros”. Make sure to choose a professionally trained technician who uses top notch products, & check out all their before and after photos. Be in love with every picture you see.

Then, when you’ve found your perfect technician, communicate what you want with them very well. If you’re into a more subtle look, let them know. If you want to look like a Vegas showgirl with lashes up to your eyebrows, let them know that too.

My personal preference is to always go with the less is more motto. I like people to look at me and think, ‘hmmm, she looks good.’ instead of, ‘whoa- she has eyelash extensions on.’

I was not feelin’ so hot yesterday so I skipped yesterday’s post & gave myself some TLC : / !

Anyway since I can only respond to so many e-mails [ before I go nutso ] I figured I would answer some frequently asked quesies.

+ What’s your health & fitness background?

Here’s my story. Ta da.

+ Tell me about a day of eating.

It changes on the reg. I love shocking my system- ya know, changing it up. Breakfast is usually a piece of sprouted raisin toast with berries [ I put the berries on the bread + a bit of butter ] & some tea. Snack is a banana. Then I have a cup of coffee with a splash of soy milk, cinnamon, & nutmeg. “Lunch” [ I say "lunch" because I don't really eat three actual meals, I snack ] is cottage cheese with more berries & a salad or scrambled eggs with avocado, onions, & tomato slices. I usually have another snack like a protein shake or a fresh squeezed vegetable juice. I nibble on nuts, pineapple, a hard boiled egg, some light cheese, ’0 calorie’ pasta + Rao’s sauce, &/or hummus w/ baby carrots. Dinner is a protein patty or Boca burger sans bun, maybe some wine, & a salad with protein. I usually stay away from meat though. Lots of water, water, & more water. But I also pick throughout the day. I’m a real picker ; ). Sometimes I pick at a some french fries/pasta/pizza, steal a few bites of dessert, or even eat a cranberry oatmeal cookie…GASP! Teeny, tiny portions work well for me throughout the day. I also modify everything.

+ What can I reach for when I’m having a sweet craving?

I’m obsessed with stuffing organic raspberries with dark chocolate chips ; ).

+ What makeup do you use?

I promise {!!!} a post on this is comin’ soonnnnnn.

+ How do I get rid of belly fat?

PILATES! It’s changed my life. Also fuel your bod with the healthiest foods possible & drink TONS of water [ I swear it works! ].

+ Do you count calories?

If I’ve had a particularly bad week, I use MyFitnessPal. But usually, no. For more info, click here.

+ Do you have extensions?

No. I don’t know where they would go- my hair is normally one big dreadlock!! LMAO.

+ Where do you shop?

+ Favorite nail polish color?

It varies; but I love Essie’s Ballet Slippers, Wicked, & Chanel’s April. My color of the moment is: MAC’s Salad Dressing.

+ Did you design the layout for your blog?

I designed the colors, layout, etc. on paper & then had someone do all of the HTML work.

+ Can you send me the 3-Day Juice Cleanse, can I workout on the cleanse, & # of veggies for each day of the 64 ounce juice?

+ My blood sugar is low on the juice cleanse, what should I do?

Drink a glass [ not a gallon ] of OJ in the AM before you start & drink green tea with a splash of passion tea [ I like Starbuck's Trenta best ] all day long. Also, if you’re entirely fatigued, eat some nuts.

+ Daily snack ideas?

I love: hummus with lemon, hard boiled eggs, light string cheese, apple chips, bananas with almond butter, nuts, strawberries, veggies with red wine vinaigrette, Oasis toast + avocado, frozen grapes, wasabi peas, sliced tomato with Provolone cheese, & turkey slices with extra spicy mustard.

+ Where did you get the fruit infusion pitcher found in this post?

+ How do you recover from a week of eating poorly?

If I eat like crap one week, the next week I’ll make myself pay! I intensify my workouts, drink tons of water, get a B-12 shot, and/or eat tons of arugula salads [ my favorite! ] & brussels sprouts. Oh, & I’ll limit my alcohol intake ; ).

+ Will you be taking sponsors?

+ Hair: extensions or real?

Real.

+ Typical day of eating?

Breakfast is normally rolled oatmeal with rice milk & bee pollen, Ezekiel cereal, or a banana & OJ. Then coffee with a splash of soy & cinnamon around 11 am. I snack throughout the day; I’m not one for a huge lunch. See snack ideas above or click here. Every now & then, I’ll have an open faced unsweetened PB & J sandwich. Dinner is usually an arugula salad with this dressing, a veggie roll with ginger, brussels sprouts with lemon, and/or quinoa. Lots of water throughout the day & maybe a glass of wine too!

+ I am in high school & workout a lot, but the cafeteria food sucks…any advice?

I would make a weekly trip to Trader Joe’s & stock up on dry snacks to carry in your purse. Or modify the cafeteria food. For instances, if you’re having a salad, use lemon as dressing. If you’re having a turkey sandwich, nix the bread & make a roll-up. If you’re eating pasta, add veggies to it.

+ I live in Europe; how can I eat healthy without TJ’s or Whole Foods?

Amazon has all the products [ breads, cereals, apple chips, etc. that I talk about ]. Other ideas: stick to mainly vegetables, fruits, low-carb bread, & make your own veggie juices or smoothies.

+ Business advice on blogging?

Be yourself, provide colorful, pretty visuals, & be consistent. Also, make sure you’re incredibly passionate about your topic of choice.

+ Advice for slimming thighs?

Pilates & good old-fashioned strength training has shrunk my thighs. I like jump lunges, jump squats, & leg lifts for sculpting too.  Side note: eating a lot of dairy adds cellulite to the butt & thighs.

+ What are other juicing ideas?

I absolutely love it. Future posts to come on juicing recipes! [ P.S. if you had a recipe post/general post request, I'll make sure to complete them all! ].
