The other day on Instagram I posted a pic of coconut/cacao hot chocolate…( SO freaking yummy ) and you guys asked me for a recipe.
Annnnnd today I’m sharing it…BUT I added Bailey’s ( so sue me ).
First off, I had a full on love affair with this little recipe because it’s that good. I fully just sat alone in my house with Spotify’s Christmas Jazz station on repeat pretending like I was in the depths of winter in Alaska with a blazing fire.
When in reality it’s like, 70 to 75 degrees in San Diego.
You should see people here though; they’re in full blown UGG’s with wool scarves, leg warmers, jackets, & North Face vests, acting as if they’re experiencing unlivable conditions like ‘Beyond The Wall’ in “Game of Thrones” exclaiming “can’t you believe this weather? It’s bone-chilling!” All while checking out at the grocery store buying logs & heated blankets.
This is real life in SD right now.
Before we get all dramatic, A.) it’s not cold at all ( I just got back from NYC so I’m feeling pretttttty savvy to what’s cold ) & B.) I’m jealous of places that are cold in winter because I want to drink warm drinks by the fire.
…but I mightttttt be wearing a vest & scarf right now too? So I guess I’m just as guilty?
Ok let’s get to the hot chocolate…with a spin though: cacao nibs & coconut flakes!! Here’s a quick video tutorial of how to DIY.
Soooo good it hurts. The recipe is seriously the easiest thing in the world:
+ Sprinkle coconut flakes or add a few drops of coconut sugar ( it’s a liquid )
+ Sprinkle cacao chips ( sometimes I melt them before I add them )
+ Add a couple of marshmallows because DUH!
( Option: dash of pumpkin pie spice to get super festive-y )
Directions: on a stove heat up coffee and almond milk. Add to a holiday mug. Add Bailey’s. Sprinkle coconut flakes or add coconut sugar. Sprinkle cacao nibs or heat them up for an added touch. Dash on pumpkin pie spice or marshmallows. Cheers! x
Also, I HAVE TO KNOW! WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE HOLIDAY COCKTAIL?
Basically we like to call this purple-ish, delicious heaven: Blackberry Bubbles. MMMM hmmm. Enjoy:
Julie found some super cute purple, cocktail sugar & we lined our glasses ( using a lime to wet the rim of the glass ) with the pretty sugar. Then Julie invented ( ok, maybe not invented but basically ) THE BEST THING EVER: putting a scoop of blackberry sorbet in the bottom of the champs glass.
UMMMMMMMMmmm. Is there anything better?
Caution: when pouring the bubbly, go slow. Slow & steady definitely wins this race. You don’t want the bubbles overflowing.
Lastly add a blackberry for garnish & add a DIY wine charm for a fun added touch.
So ya, don’t worry if you’re crazed right now— we always got ya covered if you’re big hurry. Here’s a quick video to sum it up FAST:
Also, I should mention: if you guys want a last minute recipe, YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS BRUSSELS SPROUTS RECIPE. It’s my favorite Thanksgiving recipe ever ( besides homemade cranberry sauce, corn bread, & fresh turkey— LOL ). I guess I just love Thanksgiving in general though so I’m bias.
Are you guys liking the extra video on the blog? Let me know! I hope so because it’s a fun way to connect with you guys & keep it really real. Thoughts?
Ok, happy Thanksgiving cuties— enjoy some blackberry bubbly ( w/ an extra scoop of sorbet )! Hashtag your pics on Insta as #theskinnyconfidential so I can check your Thxgivs out too.

A couple of weeks ago I posted an Instagram of mint Kombucha x champagne & you guys asked a bunch of questions so I figured I’d do a full post.
These are kind of a no-brainer, duh, need this in my life-kinda cocktail. Because who doesn’t want to have their cake & eat it too?
Probiotics x champagne?? I mean?? Does anyone even have to ask?
Here’s a little, quick video on how to whip this up for the weekend:
If you’re afraid of the cultures in Kombucha…DON’T BE!!!
THEY’RE FULL OF PROBIOTICS ( << potential post? I think so. ). Probiotics are good bacterias…basically they’re “probiotics are microorganisms that offer some form of health benefit to the host – they can be found in various different foods. Probiotics are believed to play very important roles in regulating proper intestinal function and digestion— by balancing intestinal microflora ( source ).”
You can read more about one of my favorite drinks here.
Other options: add a spoonful of chia seeds ( I know, I’m obsessed, sorry ), a lemon wedge, a couple raspberries, &/or mint leaves.
I’m so into it right now because who doesn’t like to get their buzz on while drinking a serving of fruit?
Super simple: one shot vodka ( or three? ) ( << I like Tito’s because IT’S THE BEST EVER! ), a splash of real ( like, real, real…not ‘Simply Apple’ or any of that fake bullshit ), a splash of ginger beer or ginger ale, & top with sparkling water. I also added a little pinch of pumpkin pie spice because I wanted to get realllll festive over here.
CAN WE TALK ABOUT THIS MARTINI SHAKER? I bought it at Target AKA Tarjay & just love it.
( Wolf or chihuahua? You decide. I feel like I have no idea ).
But cute, right?…so powerful & proud:
So this lil fizz is fun to make for Halloween parties…plus if you have kids you can tell them “it’s Mommy’s apple juice.”
& boy oh boy, is Mommy’s apple juice tasty.
But beware: don’t shake the ginger beer & sparkling water in the martini shaker…it will explode. This has happened to me about six million times. Just shake the vodka & apple juice together, pour over ice, & then splash the ginger beer or ale, and sparkling water. Garnish with an apple slice & some bomb-ass pumpkin pie spice AND BAM!!!
It’s just like a fall, apple picking, pumpkin hay ride your in mouth. Everything the season’s supposed to be & more…
Ok, do I need to convince you any more to try this deliciousness?
