Crazy BLENDER Ginger Lemonade

frozen blender lemonade | by the skinny confidentialfrozen blender lemonade | by the skinny confidential

Hello hello! Happy Thursday.

Absolutely so excited to share this odd ball recipe that I randomly found.

BLENDER GINGER LEMONADE.

None of that Minute Maid bullshit, fake lemonade guys, this is real deal LEMONade. Why LEMONade? Because it’s technically like a whole lemon. No really, like a lemon GOES IN THE BLENDER. Not peeled.

Like the entire lemon.

But not 5 lemons, ONE LEMON. UNO. JUST ONE.

That’s right one measly lemon makes tons of goodness ( you won’t believe how far it goes actually ).

Are you with me still?

LISTEN- when I find something that A.) tastes good B.) is all natural and C.) is weird & different, I have to share it on The Skinny Confidential.

This is weird & different because who the hell thinks of casually throwing an entire lemon, peel & all, into a blender?

Really though, I’d be overly excited to meet this person.

Props on the creativity & curiosity, well played.

Ok, presenting…CRAZY BLENDER LEMONADE:

I just can’t contain myself with this one. It’s so good.

K, recipe time:

As I said, we’re dealing with ONE lemon.

So simply use 2 cups of water, a handful of ice cubes, & a few tablespoons of coconut sugar for sweetness. Add a sprig of mint for garnish & color. Because how fun are yellow & green together?

The Big Bird yellow-ness from the lemon’s peel is DYNAMIC once it’s blended. Prettiest yellow ever.

BY THE WAY, use a legit blender for this. I live & die for this one ( you know this already if you follow along on Snapchat ).

This recipe says to remember to “wash & scrub the lemon thoroughly. It’s going in the blender, peel and all, so you’ll want to be sure it’s squeaky clean. Next, use a paring knife to cut it into quarters and remove the seeds and the pith ( that thick white stuff in the middle ). When you’re done, toss the lemon quarters in the blender along with the water, ice cubes and sugar. Now the fun part: Blend. Make sure you blend for a full minute ’til it’s ultra-smooth. Anything less and you’ll taste the pulp.” { recipe via }

Ginger was in my fridge too, so I literally cut a thumb size amount off & added it to the mix for a twist. Just throw the root in right with the lemon! LOLZZZZ.

Gotta add a little TSC flair.

Since I filmed this with some friends, we got crazy behind the scenes & added Tito’s gluten-free vodka. Obviously you don’t have to add a splash of vodka but if you’re with friends, why the hell not? Oh, & this was filmed 2 weeks ago; I can assure you I’m still fully committed to No Way Rose January. No alcohol all month!

Ok, soooo tired. Off to read more of Elizabeth Taylor’s biography…it’s SO juicy. You have to read it.

Witchy, Creepy Martinis…BUT TOTALLY GUILT-FREE.

witchy martinis 2 | by the skinny confidential

witchy martinis 8 | by the skinny confidential

BOO!

How witchy are these black martinis?!

First off, whenever I see black plastic spiders at the grocery store, I get literal goosebumps because they represent the best time of year: pumpkin season!

Secondly, I love, love, love hosting Halloween parties. I’m seriously Tori Spelling on crack when it comes to anything festive so it’s no surprise that during Halloween season “The Monster Mash” is playing, I have a full on cauldron ( you know one of those black plastic finds ) with dry ice witch’s brew brewing, AND I even have carved white pumpkins sitting in the windows. Full-blown holiday psycho.

BASICALLY I GO ALL OUT.

Especially on Halloween cocktails.

witchy martinis 5 | by the skinny confidential

This recipe is specifically my favorite BECAUSE it’s sooooo low cal. In all honesty, October is one of those months where summer is a memory & pumpkin bread is in full force, so I’m not exactly feeling my June-bikini best. That’s why October calls for skinny, clean, & fresh cocktails, you know? No need for extra calories with all the extra FESTIVE CARBS.

Because of this, any cocktail I make has to be skinny style, so I use Skinnygirl® Vodka ( but guys, for this recipe I used the TANGERINE with natural flavors, aka going along with that orange-ish theme for fall ). Yum!

This recipe is one that I made up last Halloween & it really does just have all components:

The Skinny Confidential BLACK WIDOW MARTINI

2 ounces of Skinnygirl® Tangerine Vodka
1/3 pomegranate juice
1/2 lemon, juiced
1-2 drops of black food coloring
Frozen cranberries
Red sugar

Directions: add everything but frozen cranberries and red sugar to a martini shaker. Shake & pour over chilled glass with red sugar rim (use lemon to line rim before you dip in sugar). Add frozen cranberries ( perfect to use as ice too! ) & throw a couple of black plastic spiders in the martini for a fun, spooky touch.

While drinking this I like to wear black lipstick so I feel extra Elvira. Also, any leftover plastic spiders end up in Michael’s beard/hair while he’s sleeping. Duh.

Cheers to fall!

CANDY MARGARITAS…I KNOW, RIGHT! CANDY.MARGARITAS.

candy margaritas | by the skinny confidential

candy margaritas | by the skinny confidential

candy margaritas | by the skinny confidential

I AM VERY (!!!), VERY, VERY EXCITED to share this recipe with you guys.

Why??

Because CANDY MARGARITAS!!!

That’s right, a Skinnygirl® Sweet ‘N Tart Margarita, specifically.

I imagine myself poolside with a huge brimmed hat, casually sipping a colorful margarita that matches perfectly with my watermelon & flamingo pool floaties while ‘The Girl From Ipanema’ softly plays in the background.

Ahhhh, #instagramgoals.

Oh! You want to end summer the same way?…Perfect. Just watch how easy this candied Skinnygirl® Margarita is to whip up:

HOW GIRLY RIGHT?!?!

(insert Emoji pink nails here).

Not only is this a super princess-y cocktail, it’s also EASY. And you know how I love EASY.

All ya do is:

Skinnygirl® SWEET ‘N TART Margarita

2 parts Skinnygirl® SWEET ‘N TART GRAPEFRUIT MARGARITA
1/2 cup of sparkling water
1/2 grapefruit, juiced or squeezed
5 blackberries, muddled
A sprig of basil
Sweet and tart flavored candies, crushed

Directions: crush up sweet and tart flavored candies in a bowl with a mallet. Make sure they’re different colors to add some flair. Muddle about 5 to 8 blackberries, boysenberries, or blueberries (your choice). Grab a small cocktail glass, add ice, Skinnygirl® SWEET ‘N TART GRAPEFRUIT MARGARITA, & top with sparkling water. Leave a little space in the glass to squeeze half an organic grapefruit on top of mix. Add muddle berries & mix with a stirrer. Garnish with a fresh leaf of basil. YUM!

This cocktail is 1.) super light. 2.) only slightly sweetened from the crushed candies and 3.) low in calories/sugar ( thanks Skinnygirl®! ).

I’LL TAKE 5, THX.

Little backstory on Skinnygirl® Cocktails: I flew to NYC a few months ago to meet with Bethenny Frankel & her team to learn about the product. Firstly, they don’t add chemicals & secondly, their products are ideal for women who live a balanced lifestyle. Think: the woman who works her ass off but likes a glass of wine at night.

THEY GET IT, LOL!

Anyway, meeting with Skinnygirl® Cocktails was so amazing because not only did I learn about the products, but I was also able to taste test & pick out my favorite flavors to share with you guys! They have so many different cocktails/snacks, so it was obviously tough but it’s certainly no surprise that the Sweet N’ Tart flavor was one of my favorites.

candy margaritas | the skinny confidential

candy margaritas | by the skinny confidential

( And of course, hearing Bethenny speak about her career was pretty damn cool too. She really is a dynamic, inspiring, amazing woman…no wonder I’m so obsessed with her products! )

Oh, & by the way, this margarita might be the cutest thing on earth for: baby showers ( can you drink at baby showers? Sure hope so! ), bridal parties, bachelorette soirees, &/or a Tuesday night viewing of The Real Housewives of New York City (super fitting because Ms. Skinnygirl® Cocktails herself is the star ).

Cheers kittens!

Summer Porch Drink

The Skinny Confidential talks sangria.

The Skinny Confidential talks sangria.

I feel like homemade sangria sounds intimidating.

Like it sounds like a bunch of work muddling fruit, mixing juices, & finding the right wine…ugh.

So in true Skinny Confidential-style, I’m going to make the whole thing painless & dare I say…EASY/QUICK.

I’ve been playing with sangria for the past couple weeks & I can promise you this recipe literally takes 2 minutes.

And trust me: YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS OVER THE WEEKEND. You’ll be the belle of the ball. Everyone will want to be your best friend. And you’ll look super summer-esque in a crop top & boater hat, sipping iced red wine on the porch.

The Skinny Confidential talks sangria.
The Skinny Confidential talks sangria.

Ok so here’s what you do: I used Eppa Sangria because it’s TWIST OFF ( I LOVE TWIST OFF, because no one wants to ruin their manicure ). There are two kinds, obviously: red & white.

( note: I’ve really been feeling red sangria lately. I like it because it’s unexpected. Red wine in summer? YES. WITH ICE, DUH. It’s very summer in Spain-chic ).

Anyway, I used Eppa’s red sangria which is like ready to go sangria in a bottle. It’s light & fresh, and not overwhelmingly sweet like some other brands. Eppa is also made from organic grapes & superfruits. Plus it has 2x the antioxidants as a regular glass of wine. YES.

Then instead of ice ( don’t want to water it down guys! ), I froze pineapples & mangos. So they’re kind of fruit ice cubes. Fun, right?

The next step was adding a few splashes of Suja’s spicy Lemon Love because I love sour & I love spicy. This gave it an extra ZINGGGG.

Lastly, I threw in mint because who doesn’t love antioxidants in their booze?

If you want it super cold, add regular ice so your red cocktail is glistening.

Oh, & you can make this in a pitcher so everyone can get in on the fun. Or pour it for yourself in a cute, litte mason jar.

The Skinny Confidential talks sangria.
The Skinny Confidential talks sangria.

If you’re doing a pitcher size, here are some lazy girl measurements:

TSC’s Summer Porch Drink

1 bottle of white or red Eppa Sangria
A couple splashes of Suja’s spicy Lemon Love
Frozen pineapple chunks
Frozen mango chunks
A handful of mint

Directions: mix everything together with a big spoon in a pitcher. Option to add ice. Garnish with a mint leaf ( remember to clap the mint before you garnish for added flavor ). Serve with a cute straw. Cheers!

This is a total porch drink that would work well at anytime of day because technically it’s juice right?

Happy sangria summer!

Mint Kombucha Vodkas…Because Hey, It’s A Holiday

The Skinny Confidential talks mint kombucha vodkas.

The Skinny Confidential talks mint kombucha vodkas.

I am overwhelmed.

Overwhelmed because of YOU.

Your support & comments made me cry on my post about jaw surgery. I’m not a habitual crier but you guys are all so AMAZING that I kind of broke down. I have a LONG road to recovery but with all my ‘friends’ online & family, I know I’ll be just fine. So thank you all. Seriously, really, thank, thank, thank you!

Ok, enough about that, let’s talk about probiotic cocktails.

YES. You read that correctly.

Cocktails with probiotics.

If that’s not cool, I don’t know what is?

Fourth of July is on Saturday obviously ( & if you don’t live in the US, you should still try these & celebrate…because it’s the weekend, mkay ). Bring these cocktails to a pool party & everyone will want to be your best friend.

Plus you’ll be drinking…healthy-ishly. Kombucha is full of good bacteria AKA probiotics AKA those weird slippery things at the bottom.

The Skinny Confidential talks mint kombucha vodkas.

Some benefits of Kombucha according to this source:

♥ liver detoxification
♥ improved pancreas function
♥ increased energy
♥ better digestion
♥ improved mood ( helps with anxiety/depression )
♥ kills Candida ( yeast )
♥ helps nutrient assimilation
♥ weight loss

O M GEE, RIGHT.

Here’s what you do:

Need more of a breakdown? No problem:

♡ TSC Mint Kombucha Vodkas:

1-2 ounces of vodka ( I like gluten-free Tito’s )
A couple splashes of sparkling water
A couple of splashes of Kombucha ( guava is amazing )
Fresh mint ( I like A LOT )
Shaved ginger
Grapefruit bitters ( if you don’t have this, use a squeeze of lemon )
Handful of ice

Directions: add ice to a chilled glass. Add vodka & top with a little sparkling water. Add 1/2 cup of your favorite Kombucha on top. Grab mint & clap it between your hands ( << this brings out the flavor ). Use mint as a garnish & mix it into the cocktail. Top with a couple dashes of grapefruit bitters ( or lemon ) & shave some ginger on top ( use a cheese grater to shave ginger! ). Option: add raspberries for a festive flair. CHEERS!

The Skinny Confidential talks mint kombucha vodkas.

Mixing Kombucha with alcohol kind of cancels the bad stuff out, right?

No but really, at least I’m getting my probiotics when I have a little cocktail-poo.

If you want to get crazy, go buy a huge pitcher & make this in bulk. I feel like you might as well for a holiday like 4th of July because you’re most likely distracted by the pool, boys, cute flamingo floats, &/or the BBQ. Just make sure you store it in the fridge so it’s super cold…YUM.

I can already picture you guys in your cute bikinis, mingling around the pool/beach sipping mint kombucha vodka in a sexy wide brimmed hat.

JEALOUS AS I’LL BE BED RIDDEN WATCHING GREY’S ANATOMY.

Have a sip for me, k?

Anyway, one last question before I go: what’s a cocktail that you want to see skinny style? LMK below & I’ll make it happen.

Ok, have fun this weekend & happy summer!!

love you all, xx lauryn
